The hotel

Inspired by the palaces of the Arabian Peninsula, you’ll feel like royalty at the Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah! In a prime beachside location, 1 hour from Dubai International Airport, there’s an 18-hole championship golf course at your disposal and a world-class spa for banishing any lingering cares. All of this, combined with the legendary True Waldorf Service ensures a memorable stay. When you can tear yourself away from the grandeur of your spacious room or suite, not one but two enormous swimming pools await you – grab a cocktail, a good book and stake your claim on the sundeck. For more active moments, there are water sports in abundance down at the beach. If you prefer dry land, a few rounds of golf are a must, if only to admire the stunning fairways! Whilst parents are at play, the kids can escape to their very own children’s club, offering a variety of activities. There are also plenty of family excursions to enjoy – desert safari anyone? When it comes to dining, the Waldorf boasts an eclectic selection. Feast on food from around the world, including Europe, Middle East and Japan. There are also more casual options with pizza, pasta and salads served by the poolside or on the beach. After dinner, head to 17Squared on the 17th floor, a sophisticated bar and lounge that boasts stunning 360 degree views of Ras Al Khaimah.

We stayed in the Sea View and Balcony KIng Size room at the iconic Waldorf Astoria. The room was spacious and spotless with a lovely bed and marble bathroom and dressing room. As I did some work I was pleased to have a comfortable desk with wifi in the room and access to the business centre. The ambiance of the hotel is opulent and luxurious without being oppressive. We found the staff professional, courteous and friendly who could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. A Special mention to Precious in the breakfast room and all the hard-working staff at the beach and poolside. We went to the Lexington Grill to celebrate my birthday and the Azure which were both excellent. The hotel is an hour from Dubai airport but our transport was comfortable and efficient. We loved the sea and beach area which is safe and beautiful. Water sports were available and appeared well managed. There were a high number of young children as there is now a children's pool, and the children are well catered for in the main restaurant which if you are looking for a romantic dinner might detract from the experience. The main restaurant can get very busy. We were a little disappointed that there was no iced water at the table and leftovers are left at the side of the tables waiting to be collected rather than being disposed of immediately The nearby Mall was small and has obviously been hit by the pandemic with many shops closed currently. On the terrace and on the balcony there are a lot of birds which can verge on being a nuisance as they are very bold and can be noisy. However, the hotel does bring a Peregrin falcon in to make them more respectful but this didn't seem to make much difference. Whilst we were staying the UAE were mourning the President which provided an impromptu 3 days holiday and at that time the pool areas were very busy with residents visiting the hotel although the hotel did its best to make sure all customers were catered for. Overall we had a great holiday and I would definitely go back without question. Read less

We came to Azure restaurant twice and both times we were served by Gulshan. We had spectacular service - despite our specific dietary requirements and they accommodated it all. The salads were amazing and we loved the mango sorbet. Definitely worth a visit
