We stayed in the newly renovated area of the hotel. It was beautiful. The bed was super comfortable. The bathroom was huge with great lighting and excellent shower pressure. The staff was incredibly accomodating and friendly. The location couldn't be better- so close to the beach and the pier, as well as close to restaurants and cafes on state… Read more

The location of Harbor View Inn is excellent, one block from Stearns Wharf, waterfront, State Street, give your car to valet and walk every day. We were in the new North Wing which is lovely, very spacious room bright and modern. Did not see rooms in older wings but if you do not need an ocean view definitely ask for North Wing.

My husband and I were in Santa Barbara for a family event in April and chose to stay at the Harbor View Inn based on its oceanfront location and its good reviews. In sum, we loved everything about this hotel from the moment we arrived! Valet parking (no self-parking on the premises) was convenient and quick, and the attendants were professional and personable. We were greeted warmly at check-in, which was also efficient. The overall ambiance of the property is elegant, yet warm and unpretentious. Our Ocean View Balcony Room was sumptuously furnished with a very comfortable King bed, a cozy sofa and coffee table in the sitting area, a desk, large flat-screen tv, coffee maker, and a minibar generously stocked with gourmet items (sweets, savories, and drinks) for a fee. The decor was lovely - colorful (although not garish), elegant and warm. Outlets for charging our devices were plentiful throughout the room. Although we overlooked Cabrillo Boulevard, the thick sliding doors blocked out noise well and the shutters and curtains blacked-out the light so we could sleep in.The bathroom was modern and spacious with fine quality toiletries, a hair dryer, and thick, fluffy towels. My favorite feature was the luxuriously deep bathtub, separate from the shower. The large closet contained bathrobes, a safe, an ironing board, laundry bag, and ample hangers. Consistent with the overall quality, everything was impeccably clean. The room was also very quiet which made for a good night's sleep. We are glad we chose a balcony room! We enjoyed afternoon and evening drinks and morning coffee as we overlooked lively Cabrillo Boulevard and savored the beautiful ocean views. We had a sweeping view of the harbor and beach and the mountains to the south. Room service breakfast (generous portions of high quality food and great coffee) was set up right inside the balcony door so we could continue to enjoy the gorgeous view. The hotel's location is super convenient to State St., the pier, and there are also restaurants near the hotel. We particularly liked an Italian restaurant (Due Lune Cucina) nearby on Cabrillo Blvd. The hotel grounds are lovely and well-maintained. Although we didn't spend time at the pool, it looked appealing. State Street Cafe, serving coffee, cold drinks, pastries, snacks, etc., is easily accessed by crossing a little foot bridge at the back of the hotel grounds. The wide promenade across the street is perfect for beachfront walks. Artists display their works for sale near the pier, bikes and surreys can be rented nearby, and the people watching is fun. I highly recommend this hotel and we can't wait to return! Read less

I booked a weekend getaway from 105 degrees Palm Springs temperatures. Beautiful room in the new building, lovely Saturday evening strolling out on the Santa Barbara pier, seeing Bud Bottoms' dolphins' statue - the Friendship Fountain - dinner on the Pier, and an early to bed. During the night, my husband was suddenly very ill. We survived the night - had to get him home and to doctors. The front desk staff, bellman, valet parking people helped in a variety of ways. I drove non-stop all the way. I got two phone calls from a front desk person, checking on us and suggesting I contact booking.com to ask them to get in touch with the hotel so they could cancel our second night's reservation. It truly was the last thing on my mind, but after we were at home and the front desk called a second time I did call. The hotel and booking.com did choose to cancel the second night. They didn't have to. They just did it. I am so impressed with both the hotel personnel, what must be hotel policy, and the booking agency. Read less

We stayed in an ocean view room on the ground floor in the main building. It had a lovely patio looking right out at the ocean. The pool area was fabulous and the location was perfect for the main State Street area. The hotel gave great recommendations for local restaurants - we tried a few on the list and all lived up to expectations. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend to others. Read less
