Grand Canyon Western Ranch

Grand Canyon, USA

The hotel

The great ranches of the Old West are considered time capsules of the American frontier and certainly you’ll get an incredible sense of history at the Grand Canyon Western Ranch, once home to Tap Duncan, a notorious gunfighter turned reputable member of society. Today, genuine pine cabin accommodation comes complete with antique cowboy bathtub, where you can literally immerse yourself in the past! The Historic Ranch House serves up authentic western home-style cooking with live cowboy entertainment to accompany your meal. There’s also an overnight campout on offer, riding first through the Joshua Tree-lined Mormon Trail. Alternatively, join a guided horseback or wagon ride and see the buffalo, the icon of the West. There's also the option to take a 20-minute Helicopter Tour from the Ranch to and inside the Grand Canyon and back. Come sundown, join your fellow cowboys and cowgirls round the campfire, toast marshmallows and listen to the songs that helped make the West famous.

This concerns the restaurant only. We had two burgers directly out of the fridge into the microwave and almost cold on our plates. Cold chips out of the big bag, no hot french fries. Prices overdone. Two points only due to the friendly musicians. Dont eat there, drink.

Our tour was booked through Viatour and it couldn’t have gone any better. We were picked up outside our hotel (the Flamingo), with the bus ready and waiting. We visited Lake Mead and had 30 mins at the Hoover Dam before heading to the GC Western Ranch. Upon arrival at said ranch, we were treated like old friends with great hospitality and organisation. We didn’t have to wait long before we were on the wagon ride to the helicopter for our ride over the Canyon. The view was fabulous and the pilot was excellent. Next up it was our horseback ride to see the buffalo. Wow! What a magnificent experience. It was just the two of us and cowboy Joe on the trail. Such a thrill and the views were incredible. Food at the ranch was good as well as the entertainment by Casey & Cowboy Dave (a right character). Our bus driver and tour guide, Lynn, really made the trip so enjoyable. She was knowledgable, informative, super friendly and a great driver. We couldn’t recommend this day trip enough and if you get the chance to stay overnight at the ranch, it’s surely a must. Thanks to all involved, it has been the highlight of our trip to Las Vegas. Read less

It was an amazing place with some of the nicest people that we have ever met (and we travel 4 or more times a year). Cowboys Dave, Casey, and Bob were all awesome but Cowboy Dave really made our stay extra special. On multiple nights we found ourselves late night at the fire with Cowboy Dave. He provided world class entertainment with classic songs, requests, and melodies about people’s origins/occupations/etc. Cowboy Dave was really keen on getting to know us and it was very hard to leave such an authentic person at the end of our stay. We would highly recommend the Grand Canyon Western Ranch and all of its activities (horseback riding, helicopter ride, and sunset wagon ride) that they offer. We look very forward to going back sometime in the near future. With love, “The teachers” Steve and Taylor Read less
