Grand Canyon Western Ranch

Grand Canyon, USA

The hotel

The great ranches of the Old West are considered time capsules of the American frontier and certainly you’ll get an incredible sense of history at the Grand Canyon Western Ranch, once home to Tap Duncan, a notorious gunfighter turned reputable member of society. Today, genuine pine cabin accommodation comes complete with antique cowboy bathtub, where you can literally immerse yourself in the past! The Historic Ranch House serves up authentic western home-style cooking with live cowboy entertainment to accompany your meal. There’s also an overnight campout on offer, riding first through the Joshua Tree-lined Mormon Trail. Alternatively, join a guided horseback or wagon ride and see the buffalo, the icon of the West. There's also the option to take a 20-minute Helicopter Tour from the Ranch to and inside the Grand Canyon and back. Come sundown, join your fellow cowboys and cowgirls round the campfire, toast marshmallows and listen to the songs that helped make the West famous.

such an authentic little place. They have a small collection of cabins on a working cattle and bison ranch. the cabin we stayed in was so cozy, the nightime horse rides where beautiful. The food at the restaurant was super good and reasonably priced. My daughter was hysterical with all the horses that she could pet and feed.

Last year I realized although I've traveled the world, I've never seen the Grand Canyon, and I really wanted to experience the glass bridge on the West rim. While looking for close accomodations I stumbled upon a deal for the ranch, and am so glad I did. The ranch is about a 20 minute drive from Grand Canyon West, and provides all you would need, with small private cabins and an on site restaurant. We were greeted by Linda and Cowboy Casey, who got us settled, then set us up for our sunset ride to see the bison. We were greeted at the end of the trail by Casey and champagne, and returned to an excellent meal, with even more entertainment and s'mores by the campfire. Although its proximity to the West rim was an obvious draw, we found the many activities and amenities offered at the ranch were the highlight of the trip. Read less

I really enjoyed my trail ride on my Quarter horse named Milly. I would go back here just to go-not just as a place to stay. Really a destination in and of itself. Read less

Had a fabulous time here. The food was great and the entertainment was awesome. This is the second time I’ve been here and I definitely will be back! It is so close to the west rim of the Grand Canyon/sky walk. We stayed the night here, had breakfast in the morning and headed to the canyon before the tourists on buses got there!
