Kimpton Hotel Palomar Los Angeles

Beverly Hills, Los Angeles

The hotel

With an A-list address in Westwood, bordering Beverly Hills, the Palomar’s a microcosm of all that’s great in LA: the laid-back poolside living; the celeb-worthy design details; the new trend of sustainable cooking. Bookending each day, the complimentary morning refreshments and evening wine hour remind you this is the land of indulgence; while the free 24-hour gym’s wall of windows looks out onto Wilshire Boulevard, so you don’t miss any sightseeing.

Very well located, easy in, easy out. Breakfast was so-so. Comfortable furnishings, friendly helpful check in staff. Restaurant staff was sadly lacking in service orientation. Nice views from upper floors.

Besides that, great place, would return! Read less

Hotel was nice, clean, and the staff was friendly (typical 4 star hotel) but it’s frustrating being nickel and dimed for parking and amenity fees. Parking is valet only for $45+tax and tip (despite being attached to a huge empty parking garage) and there is a mandatory amenity fee of $25+tax for the fitness center, pool, and Wifi. They also give you one $10 voucher to their restaurant when you check in but everything except domestic beer is $10 or more after tax and tip so if you weren’t planning on going there already, it may not be worth it to you. Charge whatever you want for your hotel but be upfront about it and include these additional fees in your rate. Read less

If you've read my past reviews, you know that I typically LOVE Kimpton's but this one I just cannot rave about. I will also disclose that I stayed there on the weekend of Pride and for only one night. The staff you could tell were tired and annoyed. I can only imagine how busy they had been all weekend, so that I cannot blame them for. They were still polite, just not the typical over the top I have come to expect from Kimpton Staff. They hotel has a very dark ominous (for lack of a better term) vibe. It is well decorated for the steampunk theme it has going on. You can tell that the hotel rooms were renovated from another brand but still pretty clean and as you would expect, interesting decor, lighting and painting/photos. The bath had not been redone and I think that is what gave me a weird vibe, I know it is expensive to replace all bath items having gone through an unwanted renovation but it took away from the overall cohesiveness of the hotel. The bar and restaurant follow suite with the darkly clad steampunk theme. I did not have a chance to eat there so I cannot rate the food but it looked good! All in all... I might try this again on a less busy weekend, but I will probably try one of the other 3 Kimpton's LA has to offer and just check this one off the list as "been there done that". Read less

Great hotel. Nice rooms and great location. Check in was a breeze and the service was great. Only had breakfast there and it was your standard fare but very good. Would highly recommend for any visit to LA.
