This was our last stop on a long trip in celebration of a major anniversary On check in we were greeted with news of a room upgrade. The reality was that it was a standard room, but with a partial ocean view! Breakfast was a la carte - we felt the choices were somewhat limited. The real disappointment came with our lunch on the last day. I ordered "summer berries", described as a mix of in season fruit. What I got was some sliced apple and a few strawberries. To be fair, on complaint the dish was replaced. The Fairmont Miramar is expensive and we felt did not give value for money. We will not be returning Read less

While selecting between which one to take my wife for her early birthday weekend getaway, I chose Miramar over Grand Del Mar in San Diego. Having been to Grand Del Mar twice and other Fairmonts in California, I had high hope for Miramar. Suffice to say that I was wrong, more like disappointed. While check-in process on a busy Saturday afternoon in was excellent, house keeping was on point, Exhale Spa was great, and the check out lady (who transferred from Kea Lani) was very friendly, Arthur at the lobby bar was very personal with clients, BUT Richard (morning shift of checkout on Sunday -10/13/2019) needs a lesson in customer service. I went down at 8am to make sure that our request for late checkout will be honored. Richard, without looking into or asking which room we were in, just blatantly said no; "No Late Checkout on Sunday" was his specific word. I totally understand that request can't be honored but at the very least be nice to your paying client. It was the last thing I expected from front desk after you were paying more than $700 per night. I kindly said thank you and walked away. Though, I went back to my room and checked to see if the hotel was fully booked or sold out; it was not. I have been a Platinum member for over 3 years and Miramar was the 8th Fairmont we have visited to this year. I hate to say it, but one incident has ruined the experience for my wife. If I have to choose again, I will choose Grand Del Mar over Miramar anyday. Though, it is not bad for being close to the center of Santa Monica but I still won't go back there. Read less

Relaxing hotel in steps away from all downtown Santa Monica has to offer. Bungalows are large and very unique, the tower has unobstructed ocean views. Relaxing water features next to the lounge. Iconic entryway.

My experience was delightfully positive and I was very impressed with the staff and overall feeling of the hotel. A beautiful gem in beautiful Santa Monica. Special thanks to Richard, Gareck, and Jermaine at the desk for all the assistance they provided me. Also, thank you to Jermaine for the pizza recommendation in Chicago, you were so right. I can not wait to return to the Fairmont. Read less
