ANdAZ West Hollywood

West Hollywood, Los Angeles

The hotel

As sleek and understated as it appears from its spot on LA’s legendary Sunset Boulevard, the Andaz West Hollywood is actually a prime slab of Rock ‘n’ Roll history that dates back to 1963. Over the years the likes of The Who’s Keith Moon and The Stones’ Keith Richards have sent TVs flying off the (now enclosed) balconies, while Led Zep drummer John Bonham reportedly rode a motorbike up and down the corridors. Thoroughly renovated for the 21st century the Andaz relishes its history, but these days the musical motifs complement the minimally chic décor in boutique-style rooms rather than run rampant. Indeed, there’s a friendly, unpretentious welcome here that extends from the hotel’s enticing eateries to its breathtaking rooftop pool (where, incidentally, Spinal Tap’s end of tour party was filmed). Rock. And. Roll.

The hotel is in a great location. The hotel has great amenities, the food market has a good healthily choice of meals with great service. There is casual and relaxed atmosphere in the hotel and the service at breakfast was second to none. As a family of four staying in one room we recommend it.

As I was checking into the Andaz, I realized that it was 24 years to the day since our first visit. 50+ stays later, we are welcomed as family, from the valets, to the hosts, to the staff at the pool, to the servers in the restaurant. We were fortunate enough to check in at 9:30am and the front desk Walter was so accomodating! There were complimentary aquafina water, bottles of orange juice, granola bars, and bags of nuts. We stayed at Penthouse floor(PH) 2 queen beds. The Riot house had a limited menu, I missed Hyatt’s variety of high end menu. My favorite is the roof top pool with a bartender! Who could ask for more?!? There’s a lot of foot traffic with various artist, young crowds engaging with friends! Too bad I married with 4 boys. A place to chill in Hollywood with tons of restaurants, bars, and Comedy venues you can walk to! Read less

The hotel is nice and conveniently located, but this was the fifth hotel on our two-week journey and their front desk staff stood out like sore thumbs in terms of their hospitality, their friendliness, the ability to communicate to guests and their ability to communicate with each other. Every time we had to deal with the desk, there was a hiccup of some sort. When you call down to the desk, you get someone in a back room or maybe not even at the hotel. For a chain this reputable, we were shocked and quite surprised that they were the worst of our five hotels that we visited. Read less

Great place and location. 2nd visit to Andaz and will continue to visit. Center of West Hollywood and all the action on the Strip. Walking to distance to many popular sites. Love the happy hour and free water and snacks.
