ANdAZ West Hollywood

West Hollywood, Los Angeles

The hotel

As sleek and understated as it appears from its spot on LA’s legendary Sunset Boulevard, the Andaz West Hollywood is actually a prime slab of Rock ‘n’ Roll history that dates back to 1963. Over the years the likes of The Who’s Keith Moon and The Stones’ Keith Richards have sent TVs flying off the (now enclosed) balconies, while Led Zep drummer John Bonham reportedly rode a motorbike up and down the corridors. Thoroughly renovated for the 21st century the Andaz relishes its history, but these days the musical motifs complement the minimally chic décor in boutique-style rooms rather than run rampant. Indeed, there’s a friendly, unpretentious welcome here that extends from the hotel’s enticing eateries to its breathtaking rooftop pool (where, incidentally, Spinal Tap’s end of tour party was filmed). Rock. And. Roll.

Valet parking - The staff at the valet parking is very helpful and nice. My fiance and I visited during the Forth July weekend, although the parking area is busy, the staff never forget to put a smile on their face. Lobby - The lobby is decorated with modern art and has a very stylish design. As mentioned above, we expected the hotel will be busy during the holiday weekend. However, we didn't expect that the staff in the lobby area would be unprofessional. My fiance and I are globalist, the second we walked in the lobby, there were a couple of staffs standing there and chatting with each other. We had to wait till they finish their conversation so they can check us in (WTH). We thought the price we paid and the service we receive would be equivalent. Room - We got upgraded to a suite because of our globalist status. The room is huge including a living room, a huge dining table, giant bathroom, and a very private and cozy bedroom. The Chromcast in the room is broken as well as the bathroom door. We didn't bother to ask the staff to come up and fix it, due to the service we received downstairs. Besides those two, we are very happy with the room! Breakfast - N/A Overall review - Even though this Andaz experience wasn't ideal, we will want to come back to this location when we're in town. We've stayed in a few Andaz locations around the world and would want to give the West Hollywood location another shot if possible. Read less

Spent a long weekend at the Andaz as we had tickets to the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday night. From driving up and being welcomed to the hotel by the valet staff, to our check in and our experiences at the rooftop pool - we couldn't have had a better time. We'll be back again for sure!

We had a standard room at the back of the hotel which overlooked the parking lot. The deluxe rooms overlook Sunset Blvd. What we enjoyed: Well equipped gym open 24 hours, Complimentary non alcoholic drinks and snacks in room, complimentary water bottles and coffee in lobby, friendly staff and nice decor. What we didn't like: Valet parking charge of $47 per night, restaurant in hotel expensive and not very good, low water pressure in shower. Overall we enjoyed our stay here. Read less
