ANdAZ West Hollywood

West Hollywood, Los Angeles

The hotel

As sleek and understated as it appears from its spot on LA’s legendary Sunset Boulevard, the Andaz West Hollywood is actually a prime slab of Rock ‘n’ Roll history that dates back to 1963. Over the years the likes of The Who’s Keith Moon and The Stones’ Keith Richards have sent TVs flying off the (now enclosed) balconies, while Led Zep drummer John Bonham reportedly rode a motorbike up and down the corridors. Thoroughly renovated for the 21st century the Andaz relishes its history, but these days the musical motifs complement the minimally chic décor in boutique-style rooms rather than run rampant. Indeed, there’s a friendly, unpretentious welcome here that extends from the hotel’s enticing eateries to its breathtaking rooftop pool (where, incidentally, Spinal Tap’s end of tour party was filmed). Rock. And. Roll.

There is a new building being erected directly in front of the hotel. The price does not warmer the “views” and being woken up early on a Saturday morning. The website makes no mention of this, had I known I would have booked a different property. Don’t spend the money unless you want obstructed views and want to be woken up early in the… Read more

My wife and I just spent 5 days at what has become our Southern California base. I cannot count the number of times we've stayed here over the last 22 years, but this ranks as one of the best. There is nothing quite like being welcomed home, from the valets, to the wait staff in the restaurant, to the best bartender at the best rooftop pool in LA, to the executive staff. We hosted a party for our nephew's graduation from Law School, and the team there was with us every step of the way, helping us deal with uncertain weather but making sure we provided a memorable experience. Thanks to Nate, Katje, Jason, and the entire team who make us feel loved! Read less

After reading the reviews below, it is clear that the complimentary snacks that Andaz offer gives the hotel a point of difference. 'Cool' hotel. Not massively keen on the check-in style with the laptop locations meaning that one check in desk is in the way of everyone checking in and looks slightly unprofessional. We stayed at Andaz for 3 nights as part of a California road trip, I must say, out of 6 hotels it was my least favourite for bedding. The bedding really retains heat meaning it can feel damp and heavy. If you try to put the air-con on it blows really loud and hard to sleep with. Was surprised not to see a coffee machine in the room also. One night we ate in the restaurant, wow! Although there were not many people down there so lacked a bit of atmosphere, the food was some of the favourite food we had in our whole 2 week trip. The restaurant and complimentary snacks and non alcoholic drinks brings my review from a 4 to a 5. Would return if staying in West Hollywood. Read less

We have just returned home after a 3 night stay at the Andaz. We arrived very tired after a 11 hour flight and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and accommodating. We were visiting for a 70th Birthday and my boyfriends father received a room upgrade for the special occasion which was a lovely touch. The rooms were very large and spacious and offered a free mini bar with everything included except alcohol. The breakfast in the morning was delicious with a wide selection of fresh fruit and buffet choices. The free coffee and cake throughout the day and also wine hour was very nice too. One of our favourite things about the hotel was the roof-top pool, we spent every afternoon here relaxing after a busy day in the city and the views to the Hollywood hills were very special. Next time we are in LA we will most definitely be returning to the Andaz and will recommend to our friends and family, thanks again for a great stay! Read less
