The Grafton on Sunset

West Hollywood, Los Angeles

The hotel

With more rock ‘n’ roll energy than Steven Tyler’s microphone stand — you've got to be at the Grafton on Sunset. Discover chic rooms, a gem of a courtyard pool and a funky urban vibe, with a B-side of sass. And, all this within swaggering distance of legendary night spots like The Viper Room. You can escape the paps outside with a hand-crafted cocktail at the hotel bar. Then enjoy the edgy elegance of your guest room — think mirrored walls, leather, metal and the occasional rock-themed nod, of course.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Lots of party people at this hotel

Agreed with other reviewers: horrible weed and cigarette smell everywhere (one night it was so bad I could barely sleep; it was filtering in from the other rooms). Lots of party people who scream in the corridors all night long. There is a super rude woman at the front desk. (The two guys were lovely though.) Location is superb however and the… Read more

The most important thing to know is that this hotel is great if you are with your friends and you are in your 20s. If you are on the first floor, you can hear all the people above you. The a/c is super loud and everything feels real dated. An upgrade is certainly in order The pool is fine but often no towels available and the area is not cleaned regularly. Also, same issue, not for families. Guests were out there smoking weed, partying. Like I said, this is the perfect place if you are young and into having a blast. I’d even say fine for couples. It just isn’t a family spot. Read less

Our stay was simply horrible. Rooms are dated, carpet is filthy and old. Cigarettes and weed smell in the hallways and room. We had to switch first room bc smell was unbearable, but wasn’t better in second room. The AC was so loud we ended up turning it off all night making the room super hot. Bathroom is tiny and it was dirty. All towels without exception were stained with a yellow substance, maybe a cleaning product, not sure. I requested my room to be cleaned each day, front office person said it needed to be scheduled. I requested it for EACH day. When we got back to the hotel after being out all day (it was around 7 pm) our room wasn’t cleaned and we didn’t have any clean towel. I called front desk and the front desk lady said she was by herself until 9 pm and that it was as one man show and she couldn’t leave the front desk. She invited me to get the towels from a closet in the hallway, but was locked. We had dinner reservations and I wasn’t able to shower before leaving the hotel. When I got back, towels were not there. Same happened day before I requested extra towels and received none. Lastly, second day we went down for “breakfast” at 10:10 and were told that we were lucky they left things out because they stop serving breakfast at 10:00, he made that comment 3 times, it made me uncomfortable. The best was the strong breakfast, the pastries were extremely sweet, but ok. Location is good, but do not recommend this place, especially if traveling with young kids. Read less

When leaving in the morning I asked the front desk to change the sheets and towels. Returning at 7 pm I came back to see a neat pile of sheets and towels on the couch, while the bed remained untouched. I guess this 4 star hotel charges the guests a resort fee for the privilege of self-servicing the room. No other amenities to brag about.

This was my 7-8th visit at the Grafton Hotel on Sunset Boulevard. It was renovated 7-8 years ago and is close to being a gem. The parking is great, but way too expensive...at $50+ a night. The rooms and bathrooms are great, but you can hear the people in the next door rooms. If you stay here, get the pool access rooms. The A/C works great. I wish the hotel would remodel and open the attached restaurant that has been closed for 5+ years. If they do this and hire someone fabulous to work the bar, this place would be a bona-fide GEM. I love staying here because its close to everything and you can walk to the Beverly Center Mall. Rooms are a bit pricey, even on Travelocity. The rates aren't much cheaper booking them direct. At $300+ a night including fees & taxes, the hotel is becoming out of my price range. It definitely wasn't full last weekend. One last comment...the pool area is fabulous. Need a few more chairs, but its fab. Read less
