Quick backstory: This is the first time I've every created an account specifically to leave a bad review. I think it might be the first time I've had an experience so bad that I even wanted to leave a negative review. Service was terrible, unresponsive, unaccommodating. I sent an email to two different managers after I'd cooled down, and tried to remain cordial. The response back I received from the manager was worthless. They restated my grievance in such a way that I wondered if they even read the email. They cited my car with a parking fine despite having the parking placard. They removed it after I pointed it out. But then in the email they sent, they again said they would take care of the parking fine as if I hadn't already had it worked out by pointing out the placard was there. They said a receipt would be sent by email, which was never sent. I then called to have a new one sent and the person tersely told me that I'd have to call a different number, and that number was never answered, and was instructed to leave a voicemail. I could have ignored all of that if the people I'd dealt with weren't so unapologetic. Read less

She was so friendly to my daughter yet managed to checked us in swiftly. Thank you so much for making it so memorable for our 2nd birthday for our daughter! We had a lovely room - ocean view with balcony, the sunset was divine! Everyone is super friendly at this resort, professionally. We didn’t eat out at restaurants but had coffee and snacks from coffee shop which was fantastic! The resort is being renovated & looks like will be complete in a few weeks, just in time for spectacular summer vacation time. Read less

I booked this trip as a 4 day getaway from winter weather and much needed respite from hellacious work schedule for past 4 months. The photos, pool setting and boasted renovations were a huge draw where I was considering Palm Springs and other SD resorts. I just wanted to lay by the pool, have drinks, spa treatments, etc. When I found out where our room placement was at check in I paid extra for bayview upgrade. I wanted quiet and serene. We were never made aware even upon arrival that pool was closed the entire time and renovations were far from over. We only found out about the pool when we went over to the restaurant for lunch and found out it was closed and under construction. Service at the restaurant was slow and our food served to 2 different tables before being dropped off to us. Second day there we found out by sheer happenstance that there was another resort allowing us to use their pool. Overheard it when front desk staff told someone else checking in. Couldn't believe we were never told about any of this. Upon further inquiry, also found out they'd pay uber over and back. Perhaps that's why they weren't volunteering this information. Now, upon reading further reviews from the same time period, come to find out others were comped room upgrades and spa services!!! We were not offered anything and paid out of pocket for both. I did like the room, but it was in a building next to another building under renovations. Some parking was blocked, workers took other spots and large semi trucks blocked in/out access during the day. I considered booking at the resort that was allowing us to use the pools....should have done it. Completely different experience there. I feel bad complaining, but this stay was not worth the money paid. Read less

Hi everyone. I just finished my second stay in the last month at SDMBR and need to compliment the amazing staff. Yes the resort is under renovation but I went into my trip knowing that. The renovated rooms are awesome and once pool and lobby is completed it will be unbelievable. But lets also give credit for what it is today, it is a great resort in a great bay front location w/ activities right out your front door, awesome rooms in the tower and a staff that goes ABOVE and BEYOND to make you always feel welcomed. I want to also give special call outs to Daniel and Waneda at the front desk, Jeffery the bellman & inventor, georgi the coneriage, the entire Amor coffee shop staff and Chris on the engineering team. Thanks to everyone, cant wait to come back in April. Cheers Read less

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in late February. The first three days were for a conference, the last three we stayed there as a vacation getaway. We had originally planned to move to another cheaper hotel that fit our budget but we just couldn't leave this property, mainly because of the people and the service. The staff was phenomenal and I can't possibly name all of them but I do want to mention the concierge Gordon Berry. He was so very insightful and helpful in making the most of our stay. He was really invested in time in San Diego and Southern California. I don't know if we will ever make it back to San Diego but if we do, we wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Mission Bay Resort again.
