The hotel was well-run given the covid situation, with staff taking the appropriate precautions. The room was very clean and comfortable. The location was very convenient to our activities and to good breakfast restaurants in the area.

Went there during Labor Day weekend. Pandemic shut a lot of things down - pool/fitness/... as was expected. As a globalist take out brft was very good. Checkin was sketchy as my room was not available. After some insisting, they found the room. Tried to upgrade the room to a suite using awards and while the suite was available I couldn’t get in because they told me that the sf city rule prohibited use of a room within 24 hours of checkout. Scratching my head because that’s a terrible city rule. Turns out it’s not true. Escalated to gm and instead of correcting the matter flip flopped and told me that it was a city rule but when pressed told me it was at the discretion of hotel but they try to abide by the 24 hour rule which is a Hyatt policy. Asked to show me the policy and he pointed me to the Hyatt covid cleanliness portal that outlines their covid policy. No 24 hour rule. Being a gm in the hospitality industry, one would assume that he would be more clued in. Wasn’t. Hotel’s not bad, in a good spot - within walking distance. It’s always that one service impact that changes 5 to 1 start. Read less

My actual rating is a 4.5. Overall, I was very pleased. Huge rooms, especially for San Fran, comfortable beds, quiet hotel, excellent handling of the pandemic, kind staff, and ideal location. We did almost everything on the "tourist" list and all of it was only minutes from the hotel. My docking of 0.5 points merely comes from the cleanliness of the bathroom. The shower, toilet, and sink were simply not well-cleaned. Even in normal circumstances, that's not ok. But during a pandemic, and being such a high-touch room, I thought that was pretty unacceptable. We dealt with it and cleaned the best we could, but I would like to hear a commitment to improving the quality of their deep cleaning between stays. Even still, we would absolutely stay here again and I do recommend it! Read less

We only spent one evening at this hotel but it was satisfactory and a good location to Pier 39 and the Wharf. Room was clean , front desk friendly/helpful, and since there is no valet service guests get to park in their garage for $45 which isn't bad for SFO.

The hotel is old, outdated and it shows. It appears they don't even try to control the controllables and maintain simple things like keeping doors painted and looking good (pic attached). The surrounding neighborhood is no bueno. Boarded up buildings and when walking you may have to step over the homeless who are everywhere. Very dark streets.… Read more

The surrounding neighborhood is no bueno. Boarded up buildings and when walking you may have to step over the homeless who are everywhere. Very dark streets. We did not feel safe walking at night. However, the proximity to Fishermans Wharf and Pier 39 was excellent. 4 minute walk. Overall very disappointed with the hotel. Read less
