Riu Plaza Fishermans Wharf

Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco

The hotel

Just a pleasant stroll from the shops and entertainment at Pier 39, and the ferry to Alcatraz, the Riu Plaza Fisherman’s Wharf makes a stellar base to explore from. Recently modernised, the hotel’s relaxed and friendly vibe is ideal after a day’s dim sum dining, cable car riding and selfie snapping. Your room is suitably airy and comfortable, you can kick back on the sun terrace by the outdoor heated pool, and, perhaps our favourite part, you can hangout by a crackling fire pit in the outdoor living area.

From the outside, this hotel looks like a standard motel. Walk inside and you will find a modern interior, nice rooms and a great breakfast. In addition, this hotel is at a great location - walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf and others.

I had an issue with my reservation made with a third party. Bash, the manager eagerly helped me with a smile! After a long day of car travel this was much appreciated. To be in FW area with a pool, ample parking snd a nice looking hotel is very rare! I highly recommend this hotel!!!

Despite reading other bad reviews, we took a chance on this hotel bc of its location. Wrong choice. Despite reading other bad reviews, we took a chance on this hotel bc of its location. Wrong choice. Check in took over 40 mins, at which time I asked to have a ride arranged for our 7am flight on Sunday. I was told, “no need. There’s taxis here 24/7.” Our room had hair in the tub, the tub did not drain properly resulting in standing water, toilet took 3-4xs to flush properly. We also found other guests’ trash wrappers under the bed. When we called the front desk to switch rooms, no one answered after 45 mins of attempting various numbers so between this and check in almost 2.5 hours of our trip was wasted. . This was also the noisiest hotel I’ve ever stayed at and the most uninformed. We were told there were no ice machines on our floor only to find a working one 30 secs away right before our departure from our dirty, unkept room. Lastly, I inquired the second day to confirm there’d be a taxi for our early Sunday departure and again we told yes. I’m sure this comes as no surprise when I say there was No Taxi that morning, as well not ONE person working: no one at any of the 4 check in desks, no one at bell services, nothing. The biggest scam is how impossible it is to get in touch with ANYONE from Riu hotels so I can only guess all of the hotels in their franchise are just as terrible Read less

This is for the manager Nima at the Riu Plaza Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco California. We had a very stressful situation at check in. We made our reservation and paid for our rooms in full months ago. My wife's debit card was cancelled for fraudulent activity a week ago. Because my wife didn't have her card we had to cancel the reservation and rebook paying in full all over again. This is after driving 7 hours from LA. This situation was resolved however in the midst of the event I was heated. I spoke to a woman named Maggie at the front desk who was awesome and went and got her manager Nima immediately. Nima came out and refused to be helpful. I told Nima I did not care about an apology I wanted help with this situation. Again I was heated so this was said loudly. Nima told me word for word "Good because I'm not apologetic. I'm not sorry." At this point I was livid. I asked for a piece of paper and a pen to write down her information and she refused. When Maggie handed me a pad of paper and a pen Nima said I'll get you a card. Nima came back handed me the card and walked away. I don't know if this is customer service at Riu but it's unacceptable. I didn't care about an apology before but I do now. I have never been treated so poorly at a hotel. A Motel 6 has better customer service. I grew up outside of the city and have stayed at hotels around here my whole life. Never have I ever been treated so poorly. I took a chance on Riu because I had never heard of it. And I was let down. I am truly appalled at my experience here. I do want to say Maggie was absolutely amazing. Maggie apologized for the entire situation and was actually trying to be helpful. Maggie was courteous, kind, and respectful. I still can't believe Nima is a manager. I can't be her first complaint. I really hope to hear back from someone promptly and I am hoping to hear an apology from Nima before we check out one Sunday. Read less
