Hotel Triton

San Francisco, USA

The hotel

As chic as it is bohemian, Hotel Triton is one of the trendiest places to stay in San Francisco. With a style all of its own, mixing references to ‘On The Road’ by Jack Kerouac on the wallpaper with art exhibits often hosted by the artists themselves, it’s one of those hotels you’re proud to ‘drop into conversation’ when you get back home. The Triton team say it’s like staying with a fashionable friend who lives right by Union Square and Chinatown – but, with a Bag Butler to pick up your shopping from Union Square’s boutiques, an organic snack bar in your guest room, unique suites designed by celebrities, in-room spa treatments, and the Social Hour with complimentary wine each evening, we think it’s probably better.

Transfer time from San Francisco International airport: 25 minutes.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in September. The location is brilliant, just a few minutes walk from Union Square and right outside China Town. The lobby was lovely and staff were very friendly upon check in, answering any questions we had. The room, albeit small (to be expected in a major city) was nice, bathroom was great, with a great shower (no bath - FYI). However, the musty smell in the corridor and room, does let this place down. Mothballs/nursing home springs to mind sadly... If you can get past the smell, then this is a great place to stay, but the hotel really needs to address this issue, as it’s not what you expect considering the room rate. Would be 5/5 otherwise Would stay again, if I could have a sniff test first.. Read less

It's a nice hotel but bring your ear plugs if you want a good night's sleep. A/C seemed to have it own mind on whether to run or even stay on if you tried to set it manually hoping to drown out street noise. The bathroom is also a bit tight for getting in and out of w/o running into the door.

We stayed here for 4 nights whilst in San Francisco, great hotel, central location 5 minutes walk to union square. There is no tea or coffee in the rooms but they have a station set up in reception in the morning. We also enjoyed complementary wine in reception one evening. Would stay here again if we were in San Francisco. Read less

Location is fantastic and the hotel staff are very helpful. Ask for a room further away from the lift. We received a room directly opposite and it was very noisy hearing all the guests coming in and out as well as people chatting while they waited. Woke me up during the night and in the morning. Friendly staff, quiet, small room, and near many interesting places. Start your morning with a still-warm croissant and a cafe au lait from the French restaurant next door, and be sure to check out the San Francisco Playhouse, some 5 blocks away
