You can go to the Wharf, Market Street or Little Italy in a matter of minutes. Service was excellent and we had breakfast every morning in the room at decent prices to be SF. They have a roof top bar again with amazing views. Every time something was needed it was procured immediately. I have no complaints whatsoever but keep in mind this building has history and it shows here and there although it is very well taken care. A beautiful stay. Read less

The valet service and check in staff pamper you with efficient and welcoming service. The level of professionalism is the highest. And the hotel itself is beautiful with a stately elegance. Our room had the most comfortable hotel bed we’ve ever slept in with soft linens and down pillows. The Nob Hill Club Restaurant had great food and service, and The Top of the Mark with live band and perfectly blended drinks was first class. Staying here almost makes you never want to leave in order to see The City. This isn’t just a hotel stay, it’s a lovely experience. Read less

Everything needs to be upgraded: the front desk staff, the reservation systems, the breakfast 'club' offering, the rooms, the windows, the gym... This is such a letdown compared to its website, and the past reputation. A bit of a conference hotel rather than upscale attentive tier.

The Mark Hopkins sits proudly on top of Nob Hill, a classic old hotel in a beautiful location. We chose it for its central location and also hoped to enjoy all that comes from staying in a well-known hotel. We were not disappointed. The building is in excellent condition, showing its age in decor and style but never feeling old fashioned or neglected. The staff are excellent - plentiful, helpful, and friendly when approached. Our room was elegantly and comfortably appointed with high quality linens and amenities. When we found a shortage of towels requested additions were delivered promptly. The housekeeping staff were excellent - not only cleaning the room but going above what anyone would expect in leaving us daily thank you notes for our tips. It is a lovely touch to have the stranger who tidies up after you wish you a good day. They even straitened the mess my teenager leaves behind - shaming him into previously unseen levels of neatness. We could not have been happier with our stay. Read less

From the top of the mark this hotel has an amazing view of the city but if you don’t pay extra your room won’t. The hallways are dark and the carpets in the rooms are dingy.
