I stayed here one night while in San Francisco and I thought the hotel was in a great location, they had a parking garage which was easy to get in and out of. They also had some good coffee and food options during covid which I appreciated. Staff was very helpful, room was clean and had a nice view. I would stay here again.

It's an older hotel that probably received some cosmetic surgery to prolong its half life. There are more pros than con in general and we wouldn't mind staying here again using the IHG reward points. It's an older hotel that probably received some cosmetic surgery to prolong its half life. There are more pros than con in general and we wouldn't mind staying here again using the IHG reward points. Pro: relatively big gym and swimming pool, has safety box and Keurig, hotel parking was safe, comfy medium firm mattress with large plush pillows, hot water with strong pressure, docking station for Iphone/Ipad/Ipods Con: city view only even at higher floors, $34 nightly parking fee, frequent encounters with the homeless nearby esp on Polk St. There was a nice looking bar/breakfast area next to the lobby with tempting pastries but we didn't try. Pool and gym were both on the 6th floor and right next to each other, you can watch people in the pool while working out, kind of unique. The gym had plenty of treadmills and dumb bells up to 50 lbs, 2 adjustable flat benches to boot. Pool was relatively "large" for a hotel with depth reaching 8 Ft at 1 end, plenty of inviting lounge chairs lying about. Room was adequate and bathroom was nicer than I expected for an older hotel. The blackout pull down shades worked well, the AC can be a nuisance so bring your ear plugs. There were stains on the carpet and on the fabric lounge chair. Overall it was a comfortable stay, just don't venture too far out at night. We even saw a homeless slept inside the Wells Fargo ATM lobby next door. In the area you will find some food/drink options such as Moka cafe, Bob's donuts and Nara Japanese sushi. Read less

Oh boy. Let's chalk up some of this to COVID challenges. Check in:. Hot slow mess. After an uneventful flight, a BART experience that keep me on the road edge of my seat, and a decent slog up to the hotel through SF's more colorful parts like Civic center. I was greeted by a kind gentlemen who didn't seem to be in any rush as the line grew from 2 to 7 and an airline crew. They needed help and it was just one guy who was in no rush and another who was looking overrun. After what seemed like an eternity I gpt my key cards. Hotel:. It's a holiday inn. So no one should expect the 4 seasons. Seeing the active cleaning and sterilizing was very comforting. However this poor place is beatup and needs attention. From the desk in the room, to the elevators, and the A/C it all needed work. It feels more comfort inn or mom and pop motel than a mid tier IHG brand hotel. Area: it's in an interesting intersection of neighborhoods. Pac Heights to the W/NW. Japantown to the SW. Polk Gulch / Tenderloin to the E/SE. And Russian hill/Lower polk to the North. Keep your guard up especially at night and for godsakes don't try to park your car on the street to save $40/night the broken glass and lost , whatever the crackhead took, won't be worth it. And trust me even if it's only 5 min don't take the risk. The crackheads lurk in the shadows. Bonus the California cable car starts right one the corner of this building (California and Van Ness) and there is a whole foods a block away for the health concious but frugal. IMHO California Cable car gives some of the best views, isn't as crowded and is a decent way to get from the hotel to the embarcadero. Room: as stated the furniture is a little worse for wear but if you get an east facing room on a high floor you will be treated to a view and sun. Lots on skin burning, melanoma enduring sun. So keep that in mind on day trips best close your blinds. And on hit days check your AC does make the cursed noise mine is making. Read less

In general, this is a very good hotel. It was spotless, the staff is most helpful (except for one lady over the phone). Wi-Fi worked excellently; the room was clean, and it was easy to book. Check-in is 3:00 p.m. However, the front desk lady checked-us-in upon arrival at noon without even having to ask for special accommodations. I booked two rooms, and the front desk lady took the initiative to assign the rooms next to each other for convenience. The rooms we got (10th floor) were quiet, the beds very comfortable. The rooms were not made during our 3-day stay, so if you need fresh towels or sheets, you have to ask for them. The rooms also featured a safe for your valuables, and closet with hangers, and a coffee/tea maker with disposable cups. The bathrooms were cleaned and offered your basic toiletries, and they are good quality too. Breakfast is not available at this time. However, there is a small snack store in the lobby. Prices are higher here. you can find pastries, coffee, yogurt, juices, soda, fruit, chips, chocolate bars). Two bottles of Evian water cost $14 USD. Rooms do not have bottled water like some other hotels, so plan accordingly. There is one CVS Pharmacy vending machine in the lobby area (next to the elevators) for your convenience. The machine featured your essential over-the-counter items, including condoms. The hotel is situated in a convenient location with a variety of restaurants within walking distance. Read less

Made a reservation to get the full package deal they offer with breakfast lunch and dinner included. Called to check on the reservation to find out that they no longer offer that deal. Yet it was on their website and I paid for it. Hotel room was very worn down. Called to make a pool reservation told me to come by front desk when I go suddenly there’s no room. Talk to Manager allows us to go in and there was literally no one in the pool. Pool area was dirty and had no pool towels. Took 30 minutes to have them brought up. One of our beds had dirty sheets. Good thing we had some blankets with us. Through out the night someone kept trying to come in our room. Called the front they said they would send security. No one ever checked in on the problem. Definitely regret staying at this hotel. Over priced and not worth it. Super unsatisfied! Read less
