Stayed 2 nights (Sat to Mon), called front desk around 10pm on Sunday night asking if we can do a late check-out the next day. The man on the phone said it would be half-day rate if we are to stay past 6pm, but he can give us 2:30pm late check out, free of charge. The man on the phone said it would be half-day rate if we are to stay past 6pm, but he can give us 2:30pm late check out, free of charge. The next morning at 9am I went to the front desk in person explaining that we are currently set for a 2:30pm check out, but it would be very helpful if we are allowed to stay until 3pm because we were attending a wedding that ends at 2:30pm. The man checked with the manager and declined. I then attended the wedding and rushed back at 2:15pm to find the key not working. I then spoke with a lady at the front desk explaining the whole scenario, and she said it's impossible, as they will not do late checkouts for free. After insisting that all my belongings are still in the room, she gave me a new key and asked me to vacate the room as soon as possible. I rushed and vacated the room in 10 minutes. A word of advise would be to ALWAYS ask for a name when speaking with the front desk, and also get a WRITTEN/PRINTED confirmation that you are getting complimentary late check out. It was certainly not a pleasant feeling to be stared at like a liar looking for freebies. The room was very nice. Read less

Best location and walking distance to most central venues and restaurants. Great service at door and a good bar with food. We went to see the Doobie brothers at Nob Hill. Took a cab and walked back to Hyatt, no problem.

I live in the Bay Area and love staying at this hotel for quick weekend getaways. The hotel itself is very nice with great views of the city and union square. The location is great because you can easily walk to so many different parts of the city!

Tons of construction in area. Allow for this when going to appointments, as the construction vehicles tend to block the streets and going even a few blocks may take a HUGE amount of time. But great stores in the area!!

Stayed here two nights with my husband on a work trip. He worked and I explored. This means the company paid for the hotel. If we were paying, this would not be our choice. Stayed here two nights with my husband on a work trip. He worked and I explored. This means the company paid for the hotel. If we were paying, this would not be our choice. Originally given a room on the 4th floor but then, oh wait! How about an upgrade for $20 more a night to the 20th floor in a room with a view of the Bay? Um, ok? It wasn't near the elevator, but was near the ice maker which was LOUD and high pitched and annoying. I agree with other reviews that there is a huge gap between the door and floor and it didn't shut out any noise whatsoever. Not even the whining ice maker around the corner. Certainly not the people across the hall who kept opening and closing and opening and closing (but letting the door close on it's own so it was slamming shut every single time) and yelling at each other when we were trying to sleep. And stuffing a towel down there did little to muffle the noise. There were ear plugs in the room which I used. That was thoughtful. Add in some motion sensor lights that were under the bed stand shelf. You swing your legs off the bed to the floor and the light comes on. Nice! Only directly across from my light was a mirror, so the LED light was reflected and bounced around the entire room. Then, we got into bed, all lights off, settled in and WHAT THE? Those lights kept coming on! Made us wonder what was making them go off? We found some books in the room and placed them in front of the lights thinking that would solve the problem. Um, no. It was worse than Chinese water torture. Bright LED lights going off for no apparent reason literally every 30 seconds and then dimming back to off. It was insanity. It was 10:30ish when I dragged myself out of bed and went to the front desk and asked if there was a way to turn those lights off. She said she would send an engineer up. He came up and don't know what he did but in a matter of seconds the lights were off, never to turn back on again. Glory be. Then, that night I had showered before my husband and when he was showering I heard some exclamations so I asked what was up and he was totally grossed out and using anti bac wipes wiping a ton of hair clippings from off the shower wall and said "It's like someone trimmed their beard in here!" and it was not from either of us. I'd noticed some other things in the shower when showering and was grossed out by that but this was the icing on the cake so to speak. In a bad way. Bleck. There is a CVS directly across the street which is a great place to get a banana for breakfast. Costs half as much as what the hotel charges you. There is also a Starbucks directly across the street if you're into that sort of thing. The room was always stuffy unless we left the sliding door open a crack. We dropped the temp control to 65 and still it was stuffy and not 65 degrees in the room. Oh well. In short, I feel sorry that my husband has to stay here every time he is in town for work. I wouldn't pay to stay here again. I will say that the front desk person that checked us in and sent the helpful engineer up was nice. Read less
