Our room had a balcony just at the end of a three way intersection on the 5th floor. We enjoyed spending time sitting outside, sipping cold Champagne, watching the city. The ability to control the temperature in the room was impressive. We walked to and from a Giants baseball game at Oracle Park. It was a great time. The staff was so kind and accommodating. Our stay at the Handlery was what we needed after a long day of travel. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and very accommodating. The room was more than was expected, spacious, comfortable and quiet. The heated pool is wonderful!

The location is fantastic - just opposite to Macy's and the Union Square. We booked a queen room but were upgraded to a king room at the 7th floor, that was large, clean and bright, even though we had no view. We found in the room a coffee machine, coffee and tea. The bed was very comfortable, not the pillows. The bathroom was large and clean as well, with a vanity area. All the staff was great - polite, kind and friendly. At check-in we have been informed that the hotel will charge us a USD 100 deposit and release it at check-out (if not spent). At check-out we have been told that the deposit was released, but we haven't received the money back. We called the hotel and were told that if we paid by credit card money will be back in our account in 5 business days, if we paid by debit card money will be back in our account in 14 business days! There are already 5 business days since we left the hotel but the deposit is not yet back in our bank account. This hotel policy was not mentioned on the website when we booked, therefore despite all pluses and quality of this hotel I give it a lower rate. When we arrived we have been asked if we need cleaning every day. As we were staying only two nights, we agreed not to have the room cleaned during our stay. However this was meaning that the coffee, tea and soap were not refilled and the garbage was still with us. When we entered the room it was a bad smelling from the ventilation system. It was good weather outside and we did not need the AC nor the heating; we closed the ventilation system and the bed smell disappeared. Read less

My kids and I stayed here for a last minute decision trip to San Francisco. I’m so glad I chose this hotel! Clean, beautiful, friendly staff, and about a 2 minute walk to Macy’s and Cheesecake Factory. Will definitely stay here again next time.

I stayed here for business and was amazed with the phenomenal service. Kudos to the team and management for empowering the team to be successful. BRAVO to housekeeping and the front office for making my stay flawless.
