Hilton San Francisco Union Square

Union Square, San Francisco

The hotel

At one of the best addresses in San Francisco you’ll have Union Square’s boutiques, big-brand shops, and dining and nightlife almost on the doorstep. The Hilton is a big hotel with great service and a sociable buzz in the lobby, bar and coffee shop. The views are pretty spectacular here too — head up to the 16th floor for some chill out time at the pool deck or go even higher up, all the way to the 46th floor Cityscape lounge.

The hotel is aging. This is not five or even four-star hotel. The rooms are decent I have to admit, they are relatively clean, the carpet is not very old, the bathroom is small but decent, The mattress is comfortable. This is where the positives end. Otherwise just like the previous reviewer said, the hotel has no luxury at all. The main lobby is cold and loud and not nice. The staff is not helpful or pleasant. To walk to my tower you go through the hallway that seems abandoned and so uninviting. They are very wide and long corridors with ugly wall painting and falling apart carpet, I will include a picture. The gym is tiny for such a hotel, at seven in the morning literally every single machine was occupied And on top they share it with the neighboring hotel. Again like the previous person noted, the restaurant is very small, we had to queue for 25 minutes each morning to get our breakfast. the hotel is surrounded by parking garages But is a walking distance from Union Square. The Internet connection is flaky, several mornings we completely lost it. Could not work and had to rely on my 4G. For a business hotel this is unacceptable. There is a couple of working stations With printers that are always out of paper. In summary it’s an entry level 3–4 star hotel, in a nice location, no luxury whatsoever and purely for business. I personally will not stay here again specially for the price. Needs multi million dollars, refurbishing and renovation on as soon as possible basis to become decent. Read less

Thank you for a great service. Loved the great views from our room. Laryssa was very helpful when we wanted to switch rooms due to noise near our room since it was close to the elevator. Great experience overall
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Is it really a 5 stars hotel?

The services provided are not at the level of 5 stars hotel! They do not have a proper restaurant, the food provided is always the same, not enough staff to run the breakfast operation smooth, unfortunately I wasn’t unable to get my breakfast twice. Internet service was really bad I wasn’t unable to work. Laundry service always late.

Great location in the city centre, with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Quick and efficient check in and as Diamond member upgraded to a bay view room, which gave a great panorama of the city with Golden Gate bridge in the distance. My room on the 33rd floor of the North Tower was a decent size and comfortably appointed. Spotlessly clean and with a huge TV, coffee maker, fridge etc. As an older hotel, bathrooms are quite small with shower over bath and standard Hilton amenities. Housekeeping was excellent. All the staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful, especially the team in Urban Tavern, although this was operating more like a café / takeaway facility. The concierge team were good for restaurant recommendations and had a helpful local map. While not the most beautiful or luxurious hotel in the city, the Hilton Union Square makes a perfect and very comfortable base for exploring. The area around felt safe by day and night. It was also great value at the rate I paid. Recommended. Read less
