The Marker Hotel - Union Square

Union Square, San Francisco

The hotel

With an address that puts it among some of San Francisco’s most fashionable theatres, restaurants, and sights (including Union Square, the Financial District and Moscone Convention Center), The Marker Hotel is a boutique base with a dynamism that suits its setting. Built in 1910, it’s held on to its ‘Beaux Art’ beauty, with its lobby showcasing features like a floor-to-ceiling fireplace and grand marble staircase. The hotel’s anything but olde-worlde though, with your Urban Fee (paid on arrival) covering modern touches like WiFi throughout, a fitness centre, use of the hotel bikes, and a Hydration Station providing fruit and herb infused water on tap. It also guarantees you an invite to the Living Room each morning for complimentary tea and coffee, and each evening for a social wine hour.

My partner and I stayed here recently for a week and found the hotel first class, from staff to rooms. The hotel is perfectly situated near Union Square and all public transport. The staff were friendly and helpful and easily arranged a great trip for us to Yosemite, we wanted to pay cash not with a credit card and they bent over backwards to accommodate our needs. The room was large for a San Francisco city hotel, clean and very well decorated. The bed was very comfortable. The ‘Living room’ was a lovely environment to enjoy your morning coffee and relax in before another busy day We both love San Francisco and The Marker certainly didn’t let us down. We will make sure we stay here again on our next visit. Great hotel and I would highly recommend it. Read less

I loved the location just up from union square. Gives you a landmark so you dont get lost. Rooms were lovely. No tea or coffee making facilities and no cutlery. Remember San Francisco is hilly if you decide to walk to Fisherman's wharf.

Very disappointing and not acceptable, we were starving and ended up not eating! San Francisco of all places should keep restaurants open in hotels till at least 12 midnight, ridiculous!! Read less

I would stay here any time I come to SF. Loved their can do and friendly attitude. It is conveniently located to down town. The staff are friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The facilities were nice, but it was the friendliness of the staff that made the biggest difference.

We stayed for two nights at this hotel. The room was clean, we got upgraded to a suite. Friendly staff. Our stay was pleasant, but I don't think it was worth the $500/night. The room was pretty noisy, we could hear guests outside our room as well the noise from the street (we stayed on 5th floor). Parking was extra $60/night. They offer free tea… Read more
