The Marker Hotel - Union Square

Union Square, San Francisco

The hotel

With an address that puts it among some of San Francisco’s most fashionable theatres, restaurants, and sights (including Union Square, the Financial District and Moscone Convention Center), The Marker Hotel is a boutique base with a dynamism that suits its setting. Built in 1910, it’s held on to its ‘Beaux Art’ beauty, with its lobby showcasing features like a floor-to-ceiling fireplace and grand marble staircase. The hotel’s anything but olde-worlde though, with your Urban Fee (paid on arrival) covering modern touches like WiFi throughout, a fitness centre, use of the hotel bikes, and a Hydration Station providing fruit and herb infused water on tap. It also guarantees you an invite to the Living Room each morning for complimentary tea and coffee, and each evening for a social wine hour.

Poor location you will need a sturdy set of legs for the hills as this is situated half way up the main rise. Lots of beggers and rough sleepers in the area so be prepared. Eating out there are quite a few places nearby that serve good quality food. Parking at this hotel, there is none so you will need lots of cash to park min $30 dollars a day… Read more

When we arrived back the girl on reception recognised us and had our keys ready for us. The wine hour in the evening is a lovely touch. Its nice to have a pre drink before dinner. We did not eat in the restaurant although it looked like a busy spot. The hotel is in a good location very close to Union Square and the shopping in Powell Street. Our room was small as expected in a city centre hotel but very clean and nicely decorated. Room had everything in it one should want including a well stocked mini and snack bar. Read less
