The Marker Hotel - Union Square

Union Square, San Francisco

The hotel

Put yourself slap-bang in the middle of some of San Francisco’s most fashionable theatres, restaurants, and sights. The boutique Marker Hotel is a great base — and its energy matches its setting. It was built in 1910 but you can still see its ‘Beaux Arts’ beauty in the lobby’s floor-to-ceiling fireplace and grand marble staircase. The hotel’s anything but olde-worlde though, with little touches like WiFi, a Hydration Station providing fruit and herb infused water on tap, and a social wine hour each evening.

The restaurant somewhat pedestrian diner was very clean and served all three meals, nice bar life in the evening. Be sure to ask about the Amenity fee, if you're not going to use it - tell them to lose it. Take Uber - don't walk around the neighborhood. Leave your car overnight. Feels like they just remodeled, feels new but someone mentioned they are starting another - doesn't seem necessary. It's a little jewel in a very broken City. Still worth visiting - so many businesses and places good to go, just streets and cars aren't necessarily safe. Taking Uber was easy and had no issue or reason for alarm - recommended. Read less

The staff are warm and friendly and can't do enough for guests. The rooms are very clean and tidy, Can highly recommend this hotel. On the downside, there's no hot drink making facilities in the room.

We stayed here for 2 nights before our Hawaiian cruise. The staff were very friendly and our room was very comfortable. The room had a safe, iron and ironing board,TV, phone and bath/Shower. Every night the hotel had a happy hour between 5-6pm where we were given free glasses of wine. In the morning there was free coffee and croissants.
