This place has always been a dream of ours which was never a possibility so it stayed a dream.... Until covid Covid made my dream a reality. We arrived at Lion Sands as strangers and left feeling like family. Our flight was delayed and LS didn't charge us for that. Instead they just booked another day. The rooms as huge and spectacular. The interior is calm and beautiful but not your normal dark feel. Rather modern and clean with oversized furniture and windows. We stayed in room 19 and room 1. Room 19 is an absolute to die for room with big trees surrounding it. A pretty big outdoor shower and an heated pool. The bathroom also have big sliding doors, a bath with a view and an xlarge 2headed shower. The bed is king-size delux with the best quality linen. The game drives was 5* every time. We stayed for an extra 3 nights and I can honestly say that every gamedrive was spectacular. Our ranger was Luke and the tracker was Loyd. What a dream combination. On our 1st drive we were welcomed at the rangers parking lot by a big herd of elephants. We saw the big 5 more than once on the drives. Luke was calm, relaxed with a whitty personality. This is definitely the area to see the big cats. We were lucky to see a leopard dragging his kill, passing our vehicle and pulling it up to a tree. Do a bushwalk with Luke and hear the bush explode with all the birdsounds. He knows everyone of them. Luke is definitely a walking genius with a personality. Our friendly butler was Phili and all our wishes were granted with a smile. She goes the extra mile to make you happy We did the Kingston tree house which is a must if you can. Just make sure to dress warm and be there at least an hour before sunset. The guest relations staff was extremely friendly but not artificial, rather real, warm, caring friendly. Our last night we asked to have dinner on our deck and they layed the table with lanterns with the full course menu. Very romantic in the bush. Stand still in your deck, be very quiet and see the black Rhino passing by or be quiet in your heated pool and watch a huge leopard on the other side of the river. This is just 2 of the moments i explored in my blissful week. Warning, make very sure to visit this place of heaven on earth before lockdown is over, otherwise you'll just keep on dreaming. Read less

The location, the service, the attention to detail, the luxurious accommodations, and the safari guides made this trip well worth any cost. Our Abercrombie & Kent tour guide, Cameron Pearce, was knowledgeable, captivating, and full of energy. The safari guides knew exactly where to locate the most exciting animals and the animal activities. The “Big 5” and more made multiple appearances, sometimes virtually within reaching distance of our safari vehicle. The food was well prepared, presented, abundant, and delicious. I do not hesitate to recommend the tour company, the safari lodge, and most assuredly Cameron Pearce our A&K tour director. Read less
