Emerald Maldives Resort and Spa

Myself and my husband visited in April 2024 for our honeymoon and it was the best experience ever. It was our first time in the Maldives and we looked at a lot of resorts and are so glad we decided on Emerald. Don’t know where to start but I’ll try! - From the moment we landed at Male airport we were made to feel like royalty and the sea plane was such a fun experience I’d recommend doing this - We were greeted by our lovely host Aidana who made our stay seamless and checking in and out was so easy so we didn’t waste any time we had there. We’d booked most of our restaurants before hand but she booked all the tours and extras we did - The water villa was stunning it was a lot bigger than many other resorts. Was kept immaculate by an amazing housekeeping team and a fully stocked mini bar. The bed was insanely comfortable and the view was spectacular. - We were given a lot of extra treats as it was our honeymoon which was so kind - our favourites were the massage and photoshoot which gave us the perfect momento to take back with us. I don’t remember the photographers name but he was exceptional so thank you. As were the masseuses - best massages we’d ever had! - The honeymoon dinner on the beach organised by Loki and his team was amazing - the sea life we saw was incredible- the reef outside aqua restaurant was so lovely especially first thing in the morning and we saw so much coral and fish. Even from our room we saw sharks, a turtle and sting rays (we were told we were lucky to see these!) Even saw dolphins at breakfast one morning from aqua! We went on a manta snorkelling trip which we paid for but was worth every penny and the marine biologist who came with us was lovely and great at spotting mantas (again sorry forgot to note her name!). The dolphin trip which was included was also so much fun and we got to see loads of dolphins pretty closeup. - The food and wine were exceptional!! I can’t stress this enough. We were initially unsure about going for somewhere all inclusive as we don’t love buffets. Emerald was miles apart from any other all inclusive we’d been to, the restaurants were amazing and mainly a La carte and the sommeliers were great- especially Shivam - thank you! Our favourite was beach grill for the view and perfectly cooked fish dishes. The cocktails and mocktails were all lovely as well. Shoutout to some members of staff whose names we remembered that made our stay extra special - Aidana, Loki, KD, Prakash, Ravi, Shivam, Alok, Vikas. But really all the staff were incredible they provided exceptional service and you could tell they were all committed to making sure we had a lovely time. The whole vibe was just lovely and I felt the staff were professional but also let their personalities shine and seemed as though they enjoyed working there which just made the whole experience better for us. The only one thing I think needed improving was when we went to the dive centre to pick up our snorkels the man there didn’t seem to interested in giving much advice on where’s best to snorkel and what kind of sea life there was and when we returned a faulty snorkel to get another one as his other male colleague weren’t very helpful. I found the ladies in the dive shop a lot more helpful and friendly. We’d just been travelling for 6 months which included lots of Indonesia and Thailand with lots of snorkelling and diving - because of this we had a lot to compare it to. The bartender at sunrise bar ended up being really knowledgeable and gave us advice on when and where to snorkel and what sealife they often see there. The reef is really lovely so just a shame that other guests maybe less confident with snorkelling might miss out as they hadn’t been advised enough. The Maldives was my wife's dream vacation spot. Though a bit pricey and quite a distance away, we decided to make it a reality and it was 100% worth it. The atmosphere, ambiance, overall spirit of this island is something that yields no comparison anywhere else in the world. The food, prepared by the talented Chef Aldo, (who of which went out of his way to serve us the best lobster we ever had because we were going to miss an event for it as we had to leave) was consistently tasty. The fruits were top notch, as expected for a tropical island but yet, it's good to know that the produce is well cared for. Surprisingly, there's 120 villas, and when we stayed, the resort was at 90% capacity. It's surprising due to the fact that we barely saw the other guests staying there. Besides the restaurants, which weren't very crowded to begin with, the island feels very secluded. The villas are up-kept so well, ours in particular was kept tidy and decorated nicely by Naeem. He went above and beyond for our honeymoon. Speaking of honeymoon, we were given a fantastic honeymoon dinner at the beach. Loki, Rahul, and Vikas made sure we had everything we could ever want for the dinner, keeping us entertained, taking pictures, and making sure we enjoyed our meals. The staff were accommodating and friendly. Most notably, Naresh, Nitin, and Peria catered to our wants over food and drinks. They were always so welcoming and fun to talk to. The island is good size, with enough activities to do throughout the day, simple to navigate yet vast and a beautiful walk around. With all the included amenities, attention to detail, etc., it truly exceeded our expectations. Our hotel manager Faya made sure we were very comfortable and worry free. For example, we had a late flight departure back home and he was able to place us in a villa to relax in until closer to our flight time. My husband and I stayed at Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa for two weeks in the summer for the most amazing honeymoon we could have wished for, we didn’t want to come home! From start to finish the experience was 5*! The food was incredible. The staff in every restaurant were so helpful and friendly. The quality of food was amazing and the dishes that were created for us in Asiatique in particular were some of the best dishes we have ever eaten! We also really loved the Amazonico restaurant and the jungle setting, it was so beautiful and really felt like we were back in Brazil! Our room was stunning and I particularly loved the outdoor shower in the very hot evenings! Waking up to a beautiful beach right outside the room felt like a dream. The lovely man that cleaned our room couldn’t have been more helpful! We were surprised with a rose petal bath and a beautifully decorated bed to celebrate our honeymoon. We loved cycling around the stunning island and snorkelling to enjoy the amazing sea life. The colour of the sea and the sand were so beautiful it didn’t feel real! We also experienced an incredible honeymoon dinner on the beach which really made was the best experience. We would like to give a special mention to all of the lovely staff at the resort. Every single person was so welcoming and friendly and made our stay unforgettable. Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa is a place we will never forget. Everything great that you’ve read about this resort is true. As I was reading all the reviews while trying to choose a resort as a first time visitor to the Maldives, I was sceptical that it could possibly live up to the accolades. It did! It is pure bliss due to the location, accomodation, the food at the restaurants, tasting wines from around the world recommended by the sommelier ( thanks Jeewana), drinks from the bar and the underwater entertainment thanks to the myriad of stunning tropical fish doing their thing on the reef. We chose a beach villa with pool which was private and within steps to the aqua sea. ALL staff are professional and friendly. We enjoyed chatting with every staff member we came across. One in particular I would like to mention is Nitin who looked after us at Aqua. A young man full of enthusiasm, intelligence and professionalism who I believe will be very successful in life. There are plenty of activities available but we chose to snorkel at the reef in front of Aqua, enjoy the delicious food from the restaurants, read books have a cocktail now and then and purely enjoy the art of doing nothing. Omg we're do I start this resort is the best I've ever been to , everything is outstanding we could not of wished for a better place to stay , anyone thinking of coming to the Maldives please stay here I can not recommend it enough the staff are exceptional and everything is excellent a special me too Mina are hostess who was the best she looked after are whole needs for a full week , Kd the manager also looked after us all week , Tran the chef who made are dishes speciality dishes to suit are needed . Richi waiter was outstanding , Jeeves excellent, shivam wine guy was outstanding, and everyone who works here is just brilliant, we didn't want to leave and can't wait to come back , just absolutely brilliant we loved every second of it Read less
