The hotel

The Harbour Grand Hong Kong is already one of the most prestigious hotels in Hong Kong with views of Victoria Harbour, the Kowloon skyline and the city landscape views. A state-of-the-art fitness centre may well tempt you to burn a few calories or just enjoy splashing about in the outdoor swimming pool. Children are also well catered for with their very own pool providing a welcome way to cool down at the end of a busy day sightseeing. Although you’re only minutes from restaurants and bars, the hotel’s own eateries are amongst the best you’ll find in Hong Kong. Le 188º Restaurant & Lounge features an oyster bar and modern European cuisine, accompanied by impressive 188-degree panoramic harbour views from the top floor of the hotel. We selected the Harbour Grand Hong Kong as we wanted a hotel with a view of the harbour (clue in the name ....) with a spacious room ( it served the 3 of us comfortably) and with good transport links which it has as there is a MTR stop and 2 tram stops 5 minute walks away. You are welcomed by an enormous reception area that is a good indicator of the quality we were to experience. As we checked in there was a lady harpist playing at the top of the ornate marble staircase which was beautiful. We stayed for 11 nights so over that time we obviously met a number of the staff and we found from the front of house team, the facilities team and all of the hospitality team everybody as the happiness and comfort of their guests at heart. The facilities really are second to none, the pool and spa is great my only gripe is i wish the pool was on a higher fllor so the view was better from it. They have a great range of restaurants from buffet to al a carte as well as a Teppanyaki one too but the jewel in the crown is the Le 188° Restaurant & Lounge which offers some fabulous views of the harbour and city from its elevated height on the 42nd floor. It's can be a bit of a lottery booking hotels in a place you havent visited before but all i can say is we dont think we could have found anywhere more suitable for our stay as it ticked all the boxes and then some, i would recommend the hotel to anyone in a heartbeat. All was well except they completely failed in one area which was absolutely crucial to us, the area that actually prompted us to book THIS hotel in the first place. We stayed in a Premier Harbour View room on the Club floors for 12 nights from 22 Feb to 5 March and booked directly with the hotel (76632SE242457). One of the privileges for booking a 'club' room, as published on their website, was "late check-out till 18:00 hrs at no extra charge (subject to availability)". Since our flight was around midnight, we booked on this enticement, beliving that the gamble on "availability" was small. Our booking remarks read, "..... late check-out by 18:00 hrs at no extra charge per Club Floor amenities...." E-mails were exchanged on this point, which was well noted, though we understood the small "availability" risk. The same request was repeated face to face at check-in on 22nd February. We understood that they were still selling rooms and "availability" remained fluid. We were asked to confirm a couple of days before departure. However, "availability" was plentiful at that moment. 2 evenings prior to departure, we asked Reception again and was told that our request was already approved in their system. The receptionist changed our room cards to ensure they worked until 6pm. We knew that availability was good at all times - not a chance of all sold out! It would be so very nice if the hotel could act a little bit more willing, more amenable to our request. Agreeing to late check-out as per their PUBLISHED club floor "amenities" upon our arrival would be so graceful. Informing us of their approval ASAP proactively would be nicer than us finding out when we had to ask once again. On the morning of departure, "availability" was still alright, our room type and others. All that was said, when we actually checked out at 6pm on 5th March, a half day's rate was demanded! "Policy" was first quoted, "but only subject to availability" was the next argument, who did we speak to 2 nights ago came after and who approved..... When we demanded to see the duty manager, that receptionist immediately gave up! But the bad taste, after 12 good nights' stay, lingers on and on forever! Why published this privilege when Harbour Grand had to try so hard not to honour it? Will we stay again?? Read less

Very handy for whizzing about the city! The hotel staff couldn’t do more for us, from the doorman to the reception staff/concierge, housekeeping team and staff on the Harbour Club floor. A special mention has to go to the wonderful Elma who was so welcoming and remembered our tea preferences every morning and Andy for helping us plan a route for a day out over breakfast. Highly recommend! Read less

The Harbour Grand (Oil St) is very close to the MTR in Fortess Hill so very good for touring around. We have stayed at this hotel before so thought we would go back again with our family and Im pleased to say we enjoyed our 9 night stay. We stayed in the Harbour Club area of the hotel, which currently includes afternoon tea 3-5pm and evening drinks 6-8pm which were all of good quality. The lounge is on the 41st floor has great views over the harbour and is a nice place to relax in the evening. In the Club area we were looked after by wonderful Elma who is fantastic and really looks after her guests. The breakfast restaurant also has stunning views across the harbour and the food is very good with a wide choice on offer every day. There is a choice of Asian and Western food and the staff go over and above to make sure your food is cooked to your desire. Our room was very clean and tended to regularly throughout the day. I think a slightly larger room would have been better for a long stay but all in all we were very happy and look forward to our next stay at the Harbour Grand Oil Street. Read less
