The hotel

After a makeover by London designer Kelly Hoppen, this hotel is the epitome of cool, occupying a dream location overlooking a pristine stretch of beach washed by sparkling azure waters. It’s also home to one of the island’s largest swimming pools, take a dip or treat yourself to a fresh, low-fat ice cream packed with island fruits from the 'ici' vendors. You'll also find some quirky LUX* touches, such as their own blend of coffee roasted on site, a pop-up restaurant and the beach cinema. LUX* Belle Mare offers a range of suites & private villas to tempt you, all beautifully designed. Upgrade to a Pool View Junior Suite overlooking the swimming pool or to a Romantic Junior Suite for a quieter location. For a really special occasion, the Honeymoon Suite is nothing short of sublime or if you’re travelling with the children the Family Suites are very spacious. It’s the little touches here that make all the difference, a British red phone box, for example, a novel way to call home! Exciting amenities include an impressive list of water sports with probably something new to try every day of your holiday. As for restaurants, you’ve several to choose from. MONDO specialises in worldwide cuisine, whilst at Amari by Vineet, you can enjoy Indian delights fit for a maharajah.

Room: as soon as you walk in your first welcomed by the most incredibly fresh scent - it was intoxicating. We stayed in a superior room and for the 2 of us it was the perfect size. The design of the room was very relaxing, it had a coastal vibe with pops of colour but nothing too distracting. When we had issues maintenance were quick to fix it. Our housekeepers did a great job! The amenities were fab, they thought of everything. Food and drink: We stayed here for 5 nights with an all inclusive package (AIP). Highly recommend doing so as food and drinks can be quite expensive but very much worth it! The quality of food was incredible and each restaurant had different menus and very different from the other. Mondo: We loved the buffet at Mondo which overlooked the main pool. They changed the menu daily so you can’t get bored. Their cold section was great and we especially enjoyed the Indian and Chinese corner for delicious, authentic dishes. Pork dishes were highlighted so easy to avoid, however need to be aware that dishes with alcohol aren’t always labelled (not suitable for halal diet). Beach rouge: gorgeous restaraunt on the beach, specialising in European cuisine. This place was great as it was included in the AIP. We really enjoyed the truffle pizza, burrata and steak frites that we ordered it a second day! Royce restaurant: For smaller bites, they have a street food area where you can eat with your feet in the sand - we really loved the beef, chicken and prawn skewers. Drinks: as we do not drink alcohol, often you find that mocktails can be uninspiring and too sweet. At this resort each restaurant had signature mocktails you could try alongside the regular soft drinks and classic mocktails. I had the best pina colada I’ve ever tasted and my favourite drink at the mixologist bar was ‘The healing touch’ which was a drink with lychee, pear, mint and jasmine tea. Facilities: attached to the resort there is a boat house where there’s plenty of activities (most included in AIP and other weren’t). We really enjoyed the spa which had great jacuzzi, sauna steam room and we really enjoyed the couples massage. Staff: The team went above and beyond to make our stay memorable from the time we arrived to the time we left. Huge shoutout to Jennifer, the celebration manager who as soon as she found out we were here for our wedding anniversary gave us the celebration package which included classes, spa voucher and dinner at the restaurant not included in the AIP. Not only that, she knew I wanted to go dolphin sightseeing and arranged it for our us at our next hotel (lux le morne). While the location of the resort is a bit further out from most excursions. Booking excursions and sightseeing you don’t have to worry about a thing, Gopee helped us with arranging taxis at reasonable prices and getting us fast track entry and vip service at La Vallee National Park. The reception staff were also amazing during our stay, we told them that we loved the scent in our room and on the last day gifted us with a room spray in that scent! By the end of the stay, we felt very emotional having to leave. Looking forward to coming back! Read less

Simply Amazing - the food, the service, the ambience, everything was 10/10. Special mention to Kisan and Rikesh who attended us and made our last meal in Mauritius memorable. The peeking duck is a must!!

I’ve recently returned home from LUX BM. This resort has very serious hygiene issues with the food as well as a rodent infestation in and around the resort. Both myself and my wife contracted Salmonella from the food at the resort and we are both still receiving medical intervention two weeks later, with multiple tests at the hospital confirming Salmonella infection. The Management deny any issues with food poisoning, however we are in contact with several families who are in the same position. The resort also has an infestation of rats, that would be been scrambling around the bar area in the evening and also the Beach Rouge restaurant. We also had rat droppings in our room. For anyone reading this do yourself a favour, save the £££ and avoid Lux BM at all costs. In addition to the issues with food poisoning, the All Inclusive package was misrepresented to me as it isn’t fully inclusive. The al-la carte restaurants are chargeable and not part of the package. Finally, there appears to be common theme with Management only responding to positive reviews on TripAdvisor and ignore the negative reviews, which I do not understand. Read less
