The hotel

With a stunning sunset location, flanked by UNESCO World Heritage Site Le Morne Peak, this LUX* resort also overlooks an endless stretch of golden beach. Sheltered from trade winds and on the quiet side of the island, it’s an ideal place to catch up on some R&R. Landscaped gardens surround you, dotted with five swimming pools — select your favourite and pull up a lounger. Romantic in feel, the hotel is also ideal for families, with a superb kids' club offering activities such as treasure hunts, art classes and tennis lessons. Water sports abound, try your hand at snorkelling, water-skiing or kite-surfing perhaps. If you prefer dry land, no worries — team up with friends for a game of volleyball or hire a bike to explore the lush interior. Come sundown, the pace picks up slightly. Head to The Bar for cocktails and live music, or while away the hours in East, feasting on delicious Thai cuisine. Set right beside the ocean, The Beach is also highly recommended, serving up Italian fare in a relaxed setting.

Our apologies for not having written this review earlier, however we cannot put into words for the incredible stay we had, to celibate our 30th anniversary at the Lux Le Morne, Mauritius. The resort is stunning with a great range of amenities, restaurants and bars etc. From the time we arrived to the time of departure the entire staff had been so friendly and attentive. Our special thanks to those that went above and beyond each day to warmly ensure we had the very best stay at this special resort. We know we can’t mention everybody, but here goes to those who personally stood out. Isabel Lochun, (Resident Manager), who always ensured that we were always looked after by herself or her excellent staff. Manisha and Manie, Celebrations Coordinators, who both kindly arranged special events and treats to celebrate our special anniversary. Jason and Vyshee (Guest relations) for always being on hand to ensure that our stay was perfect. Alain, (Restaurant Supervisor) and his staff (among others, Jessen and Shree) who ensured that our experience in the ‘Kitchen’ restaurant was always a memorable one. Abiraj, (East restaurant manager) who ensured that our dinner at East was one to remember. Plus Head chef at the East restaurant, for an amazing plant based cooking class. Nitrishk (bar manager) special thanks for his excellent cocktail lesson, and generally looking after us after dinner. Hans (beach supervisor) who always ensured that we wanted for nothing during our relaxing times lazing on the beautiful beach. Justina (Reception team) A special thank you for arranging an emergency visit to a dental facility for my tooth issue, which would have certainly ruined my holiday Nandini (room maid) and the rest of the team - thank you so much for ensuring our room was kept immaculate. And finally Ashok Bhugoo (General Manager) for ensuring and managing all the above. We are planning our next visit in 2025 to celebrate another significant event. Thank you all Read less

A beautiful setting by the fascinating La Morne mountain, a beautiful sea and a perfect hotel, I really appreciate the cleanliness and always helpful staff. Comfortable accommodation with a sense of privacy, large bathroom, excellent service. The cuisine was exclusive, all the flavors lived up to the name. We tasted excellent Mauritian specialties, seafood, fruit and desserts, delicious homemade ice cream and yogurts. I also appreciate excellent Chinese, Indian and Italian cuisine. The service during the meal is again perfect. Everything is expressed by the sentence of one waitress who has been working at the hotel for 15 years: "When you are happy, we are happy too". I like to change vacation spots to see the whole world, but I definitely want to come back here! Read less

I have given this hotel a 5 star rating for the hotel itself, the location, food, pools, the attention to detail for the comfort those staying there and a majority of staff. Loved having a call button on the sunshades to order a light lunch rather than leaving the beautiful beach to change for lunch. The white sand seemed to go on for ever. We enjoyed swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, swimming with dolphins and turtles, two of our group went diving and four even made it to the top of Le Morne. We also used the spa and gym. The local flora and fauna took our breath away and the youngest member of the group (7 years old) had a fantastic time watching the wildlife. I want to give a special mention to Isabel and Hans (think I’ve got the names right), and to the young waitress who worked from ‘ice cream’ bar - she was a credit to your hotel and was never phased by the requests from our group, she always had a smile, a delight to chat to. This hotel is wonderful with sunsets to live long in your memory. Here comes the BUT: I feel it is much more suited to couples, or groups of four as some staff struggled in dealing with larger groups, this gave us the impression we were ignored at times. It was much easier for staff to serve a coffee pot for 2 rather than 3/4 pots plus still and sparking water at breakfast; the same went for lunchtime at The Beach as taking an order for 2 people was far simpler than for 10. It can be annoying when couples come into the restaurant after you to watch them being served with drink and food before your orders are taken. The same complaint goes for the main bar. We have been to hotels who have much better systems of serving drinks to those who are waiting at the bar as opposed to those having waiter service from tables. We went for one last drink before leaving and 20 minutes later, still waiting - then our taxis arrived as a waiter arrived with the tray. Don’t be put off if you are reading this - we had a magical experience, the hotel just needs a few tweaks to make is 100% perfect as at the moment it’s 99%. Read less
