The hotel

There’s more than a ‘nod to nature’ at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge – it’s eco-friendly to its very core, from your room’s organic bedding to the nature-inspired children’s activities, daily Lobby Farmstand, use of reclaimed barn wood, and local artisanal products at the picnic-style restaurant. Style doesn’t suffer for sustainability, with features like corrugated leather headboards, gritty blackened steel, crate-style slatted closets, and a pop-up beer garden all giving the hotel a cool and contemporary edge. And they haven’t sacrificed those urban hotel essentials either, so you get complimentary WiFi, the Bamford Haybarn Spa, and a free shuttle into Manhattan (in a Tesla electric vehicle naturally) – although you could just stroll over nearby Brooklyn Bridge instead. But it’s the social buzz and views that make this place special, with the best enjoyed while sipping handcrafted cocktails on the rooftop pool terrace.

The design of the hotel and view from the rooftop was great. Strange that a 5 star hotel would not give me phone charger or contact solution. Food was ok but not worthy of a 5 star rating. A coffee mug in my room had residue

An insta hotel in which more time and attention is given to staff mutual appreciation and posing than service. When service is received, it’s typically begrudging and guests find themselves competing with non guests for all limited amenities - space at the rooftop bar, tables for dinner, cafeteria lines, pool access. Rooms are OK but designed for hipster appreciation rather than functionality. Low water pressure in the shower. Green/upcycled vibe is a thin veneer for cheap plastic reproductions in the rooms and common areas. Don’t bother giving them your money or time as you will waste a lot of both. Read less

From the 4th floor views were okay but paying extra for the bridge view is a joke on the lower floors, given there’s a public bathroom right outside with park visitors steaming in and out making the view a bit unpleasant, and the fact they can see you in your room also unpleasant. Shower is very difficult to use, low ceilings and low water pressure make it feel like a 3 star hotel. The shower head is small and stream barely covers your body so takes twice as long to shower. I’m also not a huge guy at 180 and 5’11, and the shower tub is very tight , like feet hitting the edges and uncomfortable - not luxurious whatsoever - paying $800 a night for this experience it’s not worth it. Bit moldy in the shower corners as well. Have to make reservations to go to the pool, all slots sold out it’s ridiculous. Spend your money elsewhere to stay , this hotel is great to visit for a drink but stay in a 5 star hotel elsewhere is my advice. If I read a similar review on TripAdvisor I would have happily stayed elsewhere for the money. Slow service - Had to call multiple times to remind the front desk to send up a toothpaste kit. If you can get the nightly rate at 300-400 maybe worthwhile for the area and roofdeck views , but don’t pay $800 a night like I did. Read less
