The hotel

There’s more than a ‘nod to nature’ at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge – it’s eco-friendly to its very core, from your room’s organic bedding to the nature-inspired children’s activities, daily Lobby Farmstand, use of reclaimed barn wood, and local artisanal products at the picnic-style restaurant. Style doesn’t suffer for sustainability, with features like corrugated leather headboards, gritty blackened steel, crate-style slatted closets, and a pop-up beer garden all giving the hotel a cool and contemporary edge. And they haven’t sacrificed those urban hotel essentials either, so you get complimentary WiFi, the Bamford Haybarn Spa, and a free shuttle into Manhattan (in a Tesla electric vehicle naturally) – although you could just stroll over nearby Brooklyn Bridge instead. But it’s the social buzz and views that make this place special, with the best enjoyed while sipping handcrafted cocktails on the rooftop pool terrace.

Greeted by a very friendly guy on the door, after checking in, we sat in the bar and looked over the water, amazing view of the skyscrapers and ordered a drink and smores. There was a cute little pot of pebbles that you light, make your choc and mallow biscuit and toast it until it melts. Just incredible, it was so much fun. Stayed here four nights, incredible service, fabulous room and a great place to use as camp, to get out and about in New York. Recommend it. Read less

Really cool spot in Brooklyn. Love the design and location. Didn't try any of the food and beverage but it seemed like it was good. The area around the hotel is really cool. We went to a wedding nearby and there were plenty of ubers available. Highly recommend.

Especially DK, Omar, and Diego. They are my favorite because they genuinely get to know you and make you feel so very welcome every time you arrive. Their way of relating to you (then remembering you on your return) just makes you feel good to be there, each stay. The hotel rooms are always very clean and are the most spacious that I've experienced in NYC. Request a bridge view! Lastly, there's a specific fragrance that is remarkably consistent and makes the stay that much more memorable. All in all, it's pricey, but worth it if only for the kindness of the people who work there. Read less

We seldom stay in hotels at the average price point for this property. When we do, we expect an exceptional experience. For our March 2024 visit, 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge disappointed. Staff was awesome, views are great, food was good, prime location for exploring Brooklyn/DUMBO. Room was a disappointment in a number of ways. Overpriced for what it is. TL;DR There were of course a number of bright spots. We interacted with doormen/bellmen, front desk staff, restaurant staff, lounge staff and housekeeping staff. To a person they were polite, helpful and accommodating. The view of lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges from the 10th floor lounge, rooftop bar and some rooms is impressive. We had dinner one evening in The Osprey restaurant. Service was impeccable and the meal, while pricey, was not out of bounds for a signature chef place. The hotel is ideally located for exploring DUMBO and relatively easy access to the Brooklyn Queens Expressway/Brooklyn Bridge as well as the ferries makes getting to/from Manhattan quite easy. The disappointments were largely driven by the accommodations. Unless you are truly paying a king's ransom you'll find most NYC hotel rooms on the small side. Nevertheless, our room was smaller than you should expect at this price point. We were not surprised, as we'd done our research ahead of time. The hotel was under booked the weekend we stayed and the room price was discounted substantially. I'm OK paying what we paid for that size room. I would NOT pay the hotel's average rate for that size room as we've stayed in larger for less in Manhattan proper in comparable hotels. Room decor is trendy enough but you'd better like "rustic wood". This natural wood decor is showing signs of wear and you can see where some patchwork fixes have been applied and where others need to be. Specific things that were annoying or completely unacceptable: Annoying - the ironing board is one of those 1/3 size table top gizmos. Ours had obviously come apart at some point and whoever put it back together did it wrong and its legs would not lock. I managed to fix that. C'mon man - put an ironing board in there. Annoying - the light over the between beds nightstand (we had two double beds) flickered. That light cannot be individually turned off. Annoying - something about the construction of the hotel makes walls and ceilings make a popping sound. It sounds a lot like water dripping at several places in the room all the time though no water (except as noted below) was evident. If we didn't have a white noise generator we'd have not slept at all. Unacceptable - the cords to the nightstand table top lamp were frayed, exposing the insulated but ultimately to be exposed inner cabling. A shock/fire hazard in the making. Unacceptable - the bathroom sink drain was literally draining onto the bathroom floor. The hotel did address this the moment I told them, but faulty plumbing is not something you expect in 4+ star hotels. The one exception to the accommodation disappointment was one of a helpful, but misinformed staff member. I was waiting for a concierge or front desk staffer to become available so I could inquire about travel time to LaGuardia airport on Monday morning. A bellman asked if he could help me and I posed the question to him. His response was the travel time, due to rush hour when we were leaving, would be 2 to 2 1/4 hours. Fortunately I back checked this, as the actual travel time is less than 30 minutes. We had a nice enough time, but would never stay here for the typical rate. Read less
