Holiday Inn Express - Fisherman's Wharf

Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco

The hotel

In the middle of Fisherman's Wharf, you'll find yourself in a great spot, close to PIER 39 and Ghirardelli Square. The famous cable car turnaround is just outside too, so you can easily get to other neighbourhoods. There's a smart, maritime theme throughout the hotel making it a warm, relaxing respite from the city. And an American breakfast will fire you up for the day. I did my research and glad we landed on this hotel. As many have said, the staff is super friendly (actually all of NorCal is!) - upon arrival Joseph was very welcoming, the cleaning staff was too. Not sure if there is any ownership involved but these are long time employees who actually appear to enjoy their jobs. Makes a huge difference in the day to day. Much appreciated and not too common these days. Breakfast was good, saves you from needing to find a separate place before starting your day. Masks are enforced and signs asking non vaccinated guests to take food back to room. If you're looking for a hotel close to MANY of the tourist attractions, willing to walk, and the weather is nice, you can survive without a car here for a day or two. TIP - Park using the Spothero website or app. We paid about $45 for 36 hours at a covered garage about 0.3 miles away Read less

This hotel is in a perfect location and was very clean. The staff was amazing, especially Brandy at the front desk! Brandy was very courteous and helpful to everyone, and was very knowledgeable about the city. I was waiting in the lobby for my Uber and watched Brandy handle difficult customers with such grace and courtesy. If you are looking for a… Read more

We were very pleased with this hotel! We requested a quiet room and got one in the center of the hotel away from the outer portions. There is no view, certainly, but for that you get a nice room where you can rest when you want. The housekeeping staff were very polite and gave us our peace when we wanted it. We were very pleased with this hotel! We requested a quiet room and got one in the center of the hotel away from the outer portions. There is no view, certainly, but for that you get a nice room where you can rest when you want. The housekeeping staff were very polite and gave us our peace when we wanted it. They offered to clean if we wanted it. But for the three days that we were there, we had enough towels and just asked for anything we needed like toilet paper and lotion. The breakfast is okay, but that is it. Holiday Inn Express used to be famous for its cinnamon rolls, then just stopped offering them. What you do get is the usual reconstituted scrambled eggs and link sausage. The cereals were limited to the sugary kind. No fiber-rich cereals that might have the slightest bit of nutrition to them were offered. The food-service muffins were good and ended up being the main attraction. The coffee, which the caffeinated version is available all day, is also of the food service kind. It is serviceable and that is it. The decaffeinated coffee is only available in the morning during breakfast, but is a bit acidic. You are close to Fisherman's Wharf, which means being close to its tourist attractions. You are also close to the turnaround for one of the Cable Car lines, which worked out great for me as I enjoyed riding it while I was there. Read less

We went to SF for our thanksgiving weekend with family thinking that it would be nice for us to drive out of LA to relax and just have a good time. But we had some concerns: 1st, Prior to traveling, we had called the hotel to inquire about their rules regarding Service Dogs- Emotional support dogs and the agent happily told us that for us that for as long as we have paperwork(Which I don’t think they’re supposed to- correct me if I’m wrong) we wouldn’t need to pay additional fees but come checkout time, we were charged additional fees and the front desk surprisingly claimed that the housekeeping told them that we have a dog in the room which first we informed them about and 2nd we had put our DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door which makes me think that they’re opening guest doors even we already request not to do so. FYI, My ADA dog is with us all the time and would not bark at all. 2nd, the hotel is valet only parking which is totally fine but, in order for us to get out from the hotel we always had to wait for at least 30 mins for valet to bring take our car in and bring our car out because I think they only had 1 person working in valet(which is not a good excuse) and they’re actually letting cars park in the no parking area which one car almost hit my dog and valet wasn’t even apologetic. We tried to address our concerns at the front desk but the agent didn’t seem to care at all that’s why I’m writing this review to let the management know and for future guest to be aware as well. I hope this helps. Read less
