First let me say that this is a truly majestic hotel... I mean, WOW. It is seeped in history, and the details of the lobby, rooms and restaurant are incredible. It is situated within walking distance to pretty much everything you want to see in Jerusalem! The room and bathroom were large and had many amenities (including a phone in the bathroom!) I know some people love toiletries, and the King David had their own collection of shampoos and soaps that smelled incredible! Our room overlooked the pool and the Old City and had unparalleled views. The sunrises were like none I've ever seen. The breakfast buffet was astounding. I've never seen a banquet like the one that was set out day after day. The waiters were incredibly attentive and worked quickly to meet any need. Our waiter Kareem had been there since the early seventies, and was even there when Anwar Sadat visited...so it would behoove any guest to take the opportunity to chat when given the chance. You'll be rewarded! The housekeeping staff was extremely attentive and made sure the room was in tip top shape. It is clear they take great pride in making sure the standards are excellent. There is only one reason this is not a five star review, and that is the widely variable attitudes of the front desk personnel. For example, we wrote a few letters to family. When my husband went down for some stationary, they gave him beautiful King David stationary to use. When we needed more, I went down (explaining we were writing letters). The gentleman did not even acknowledge me, and yanked some plain paper from the copier and dropped it in front of me. It was pretty weird. Another time, one gentleman was very helpful explaining Covid procedures, but then another was dismissive about exchanging money and didn't even tell us there was a fee before we finished the transaction. It was the same with the doormen- some were very polite, while others were really dismissive. It is just something to point out, because at a real five star hotel, there is usually more consistent professionalism. I did look at other reviews and saw that I am not the first person who has noted this. Two quick points: There was a family with sick children that were coughing and hacking and yelling every morning at breakfast and at the buffet. It would have been better if they were sat on the corner or outer edge of the restaurant to minimize the noise and pretty unsanitary issues happening. Also, it's a five star hotel with pretty bad TV selection...like, amusingly awful. It's time to upgrade to satellite services or on demand :) But overall, it was an incredible opportunity to stay at a hotel that has such beauty and historical significance! Also: Very friendly window birds... Read less

I stayed at the king David because of the history of the hotel. At the moment they have a historical tour of the hotel in English on Friday afternoon at 14:30, unfortunately we missed it but the night manager after dinner gave us a small tour of some of some of the rooms which was fantastic. The service of the hotel was amazing, the day and night time managers were fantastic. Friday night dinner was delicious, you ordered your food from a menu. The issues I found was that the waiter had no patience for us whilst we placed our order. It also took us to ask 3 times for salads to come on the table before they were brought out. The rooms were very nice and we were upgraded to an old city room view from a new city view, though we discovered that one room was a lot bigger than the other one. The rooms had towels that were warmed, shaving kits, toothbrush kit. Water was provided as well. Saturday morning breakfast was amazing, with fish, salads, different warm foods, the cheese cake was amazing and creamy. After breakfast is was recommended to do the guided tour of the old city, it was done in Hebrew and there were some English explanations. I wouldn't recommend doing this tour if you only understand English, as I felt that there were definitely pieces of information missing, the tour guide said that I wasn't missing information but I definitely was. Breakfast on Sunday morning was nice and it was in a room that overlooked the garden. Once again you ordered from the menu, but you could also request for food not on the menu. They served salads, fish and cheese on the table. Checkout was at 12 and I would say that it put a damper on my entire visit which I had really enjoyed until then. The person at reception was unfriendly and didn't have patience to explain the bill to us, it took a while to understand what had happened and that the vat is at the bottom of the page and not included on anything. I also mentioned about the room to him and he told me not to complain because I got an upgrade which I thought was unprofessional. This whole experience with him would make me question if I would stay again, even though everything else at the hotel was amazing. Read less
