The hotel

A luxurious, landmark waterfront hotel, Westin ensures your every comfort is met at the Harbour Castle. Beautifully appointed guest rooms with Westin’s signature Heavenly Bed and Bath offer a welcome retreat at the end of a busy day spent sightseeing. There’s also a heated indoor swimming pool in which to wallow and the WESTIN Workout Gym, overlooking the picturesque Toronto Islands — enough to inspire anyone to take to the treadmill! Afterwards, recline in the whirlpool or, if you’ve still energy to spare, perhaps a game of tennis or squash may tempt you. There are plenty of restaurants close by but highly recommended are both the hotel’s eateries. The Mizzen serves exquisite à la carte dishes alongside a very tempting buffet. The SuperFoods menu features revitalizing dishes made from healthy ingredients rich in nutrients, antioxidants and delicious taste so you can feel energized and at your best all day. If you're looking for something a bit more chilled, retire to the Chartroom Bar and Lounge where you can grab a local brew and a range of dishes, throughout the day.

For the amount you pay to stay here, it's no better than a Comfort Inn. Very small rooms even for a standard king room. They need to fix their thermostats because the room never cooled down. even set at its lowest temp it was still muggy. Maybe the penthouse suite might be worth it, but for the rates I would guess not.

Do not let the pictures deceive you, this hotel is by far one of the worst Marriott properties I have stayed in. I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel as I encountered numerous hygienic, cleaning and staff issues. This was our first visit to Toronto as part of an early birthday trip and we are now completely exhausted at our poor experience at this property. Starting from night 1, the hotel room had numerous blood and other stains on the bedding particularly the comforter. The desk, cabinet and furniture tops were not adequately cleaned as there were many fingerprints and dust all over them. When I first requested the comforter to be replaced, the staff only brought bed sheets which were also stained. After I asked for the comforter to be replaced, the staff unapologetically brought a duvet cover and asked us to remove the cover on the existing comforter to replace it ourselves. We did not want to touch the comforter or the filling so we slept with the few bed sheets that were clean and had a restless night. After we brought up the concerns from night 1 to the staff, the management team was able to move us into the Chairman Suite. We waited a few hours for the previous guest there to check out and for "thorough cleaning" to be done. When we entered the suite, it was in terrible condition. There were leftover noodle scraps on the carpet floor, more blood stains on the bedding, hair and various other dust particles in the bathroom sinks and on the floors. It took almost 2 hours for the housekeeping manager to come clean the room herself and our plans for that day were interrupted by the room change and me running around trying to get staff to clean our new room. That evening in the "chairman suite", we also noticed a strong cigarette stench coming from the A/C vents towards the entrance of the room. We are sensitive to second hand smoke so we woke up with sore throats. We brought this up with management numerous times but nothing was done. Most of my stay was spent back and forth trying to correct basic issues that the hotel failed to meet in the first place. When asked for a full refund, I was only given 35,000 Bonvoy points for my time which they believed was sufficient enough to cover days of no good sleep, time wasted and unsanitary conditions. Marriott customer service keeps telling me the cliche statement of "this does not reflect our standards" but this hotel is a reflection of how the quality of customer service is going downhill. Please rethink your choice before you stay at this property. Read less

Stayed here a few nights for work and undoubtedly a great location easily accessible to the train station and major conference centres. I stayed here several years ago with my girlfriend for leisure and recall it having a more premium feel then. For the price you pay, you’re effectively paying for a great location and probably great lounge area for drinks (which I didn’t try but it seemed buzzing every night and looks nice). The breakfast was good and service excellent, and I was happy to be able to use the pool one evening which had all the great amenities. Where I focus my critique is largely on the room itself - while it was clean and maintained (essential), it showed its age with worn out baseboards and bathroom with somewhat grimy caulking. This is personal only, but I didn’t find the bed too comfortable and the pillows fell flat. Not the most restful sleeps to be honest. Overall, you will get a positive experience but the value proposition has diminished for me compared to several years ago. That said, they can probably charge the rates they do because of the location. I reluctantly rate this 3 instead of 4 because I find it harder to see how this compares more favourable to other places I’ve stayed at in Toronto over the years. Read less

this hotel does not care about their guests. if you need any better indication, please look at how every poor review is replied to with the same copy and paste response. Not a premium hotel. We were there for 2 days at the end of June. The rooms are very dated with that old fashioned chair that's likely been there for 30 years. The HVAC system is ancient, doesn't work properly. Painfully slow check in, never seen such a slow front desk. Hotel is in a nice location, but it's very old. $55 a night for valet parking. 2 elevators were down. 2 people working at the front desk for hundreds of rooms. When we booked the room we saw that other people travelling with pets received a pet pack with a bed, dog bowls, etc. We got none of that. In fact, one night we locked ourselves out of the room by accident and unfortunately had to deal with the worst customer service I've ever experienced at a hotel. After waiting in line at the front desk for 45 minutes, there was no movement. The two agents at the desk kept going into the back and disappearing for 5-10 minutes at a time, while also having zero sense of urgency. We also met a poor woman who had had her flight at Pearson cancelled at the last minute, hadn't slept for 48 hours, and was just looking for some shut eye before her rescheduled flight which was now leaving in 8 hours. The front desk staff, again, had no sense of urgency and were moving at an absolute snails pace. When I asked what was taking so long, I was told that somebody booked a room at the hotel and a room wasn't available so they had to sort it out. But why did every staff member at the Westin have to help one person? Are we all just so unimportant that we can wait around for everyone to finish their one task? It was so bizarre. Horrible customer service. After 45 mins we were finally allowed back into our room. Oh and the poor woman who just wanted some sleep, no apology or any sympathy for her from the staff. Again, not a luxury hotel. Oh to make it better. Check out the attached picture to see the state of the comforter they leave on your bed. It smelled a bit funny, we held it up to the light and saw how disgusting it looked. Like it hadn't been cleaned in years. We have stayed in cleaner motels with better service. Read less
