The hotel

Using minimalism to maximum effect, the sculptural ice-white architecture and matching monochrome interiors of Óleo Cancún Playa give it a calm chicness that’s a far cry from the buzz and colour of your setting — right at the start of the famously vibrant Cancún Hotel Zone. The dedication to ‘white’ is only really interrupted by flashes of blue — homage to the sea and surf just steps from the hotel. Overlooking the beach, the infinity pool adds a touch more turquoise, with the pool bar’s tropical-inspired cocktails adding their own shots of colour. The styling may be minimalist, but the features aren’t. Where is it

Located in the Cancun Hotel Zone, on a ribbon of shoreline tucked between the Caribbean and Nichupte Lagoon. A short distance from major shopping centres, restaurants and entertainment. Transfer time from airport: 15 minutes.

180 deluxe rooms and suites. All with air-conditioning, TV with HD channels, direct dial telephone, mini-bar refreshed daily with soft drinks, water and juices, WiFi access, 24-hour room service, spacious bathrooms with premium amenities and hairdryer. Some rooms feature a private balcony. Standard Rooms with either 1 king-size bed or 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Superior Sunset Rooms overlook the Caribbean Sea and the Nichupté lagoon with 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Superior Ocean Front Rooms with either 1 king-size bed or 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

The Junior Suite Sunset offers a wide space with minimalist decoration. The sofa bed fits 1 kid up to 8 years old.

Please note: a travel tax of $11 per adult (over 15 years old) applies when visiting the Mexican state Quintana Roo. Waiter Enrique was so helpful in ordering. Drinks are easy flowing with the sun shining especially at the sit in pool bar. This resort is a small boutique style with amazing warm friendly people. Oleo is such a nice resort! Marcinelo, Enrique, Gerry, and Antonio were so nice and took great care of us. Location wise was a bit far from the strip but food and service on site was top notch and 24/7. They called everyday asking how our stay was going and I’ve never experienced that. Highly recommend and would definitely come back

Only to find the beach closed 3 days out of our 5 day stay due to high winds. The coffee shop was excellent! Fantastic service provided by Barista Dianna who took fantastic care of all our needs! However, very disappointed with the staff at the Spa. Very rude, not accommodating what so ever, we felt very discriminated against being heavier white women, aside from Clemente who was always kind and friendly to us. Also at the Spa while existing my hand was trapped in the glass door and they just stood there, nobody came to my assistance. The Spa reception staff was defiantly the low point of this resort, I would not recommend going to the Spa. A big shout out to Julia and the other guest services staff, Clemente and Dianna they were very helpful and kind for any requests we had. Read less

Had such a great time! Enrique And Raul are the best bartenders!! Took great care of us! Will be coming back soon! 😍 The staff including Raul is very friendly and helpful. The views qere amazing and the food was good too! Definetly a great experience!
