Where is it

In the heart of the Riviera Maya, overlooking the award-winning white sands of Akumal Beach. Akumal, “place of turtles” in Mayan, is home to one of the largest green sea turtle populations in Mexico. Close to the area’s most unique sites including an authentic Mayan village, the world’s largest underground river and just 20 minutes from the famous Playa del Carmen. Close to Tulum Ecological Site. The world’s second largest barrier reef sits just 150 metres off the resort’s beach. Transfer time from Cancun Airport: 60 minutes.

Felipe kept the drinks flowing on the beach and had the best personality! Such a wonderful man. Augustin, the beach concierge went out of his way every time we saw him to make us comfortable. Sarai at the preferred lounge was tremendous and I could not believe she remembered our names and used them every time we saw her around the resort. I wish I could remember his name, but the man who provided our turndown service had such an amazing attention to detail and was incredibly friendly. Everyone at this resort provides service that is really wonderful. Although someone mentioned that the resort was at 95% capacity, we only found it to “feel” busy one of the days. Otherwise, we never had trouble finding a beach chair and truly felt relaxed. Spa - wonderful Shows and entertainment staff - so fun! Tours with Amstar - excellent Bike Tour through the resort - worth it! Snorkeling from the beach in front of the resort - Turtles! Town of Akumal - so cute and within easy walking distance Loved it! My husband and I stayed at Secrets Akumal at the end of March 2024. It was incredible! The resort is absolutely beautiful. The landscaping and the lush gardens and walkways make this place so special. Even though we were there while it was at 80% capacity, it never felt crowded. The staff were simply the nicest and most helpful people I have ever encountered at a resort. Every interaction was 10/10. They were simply there to make sure you enjoyed yourself and had everything you needed. We did not stay "preferred" and did not feel like we missed out on anything. The pool concierges were so helpful and would always make sure they found you somewhere to sit and kept an eye on you all day to see if you needed more shade. The drink/food service at the pools was spot on and you never had to wait very long for a drink. The food in all the restaurants was delicious and plentiful. We ate at all the restaurants and had no complaints. I wish I had written down the names of all the incredible staff members, but there are literally too many to list here. Our building concierge Alexandra was so lovely and greeted us each day with a beautiful smile and was always asking if she could help in some way. She even decorated for our anniversary The pool concierge Daniel always took good care of us. From the bellmen when you check in and out, to all the servers and bartenders, and everyone in between, they were all top notch. We did go on the free bike tour while we were there and that was lots of fun and informative as well. Last year we visited Secrets Cap Cana and left that resort saying "that will be tough to beat", however, Secrets Akumal did! I would definitely love to return in the future Read less
