The hotel

The Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket occupies a stunning location, overlooking a secluded part of Karon Beach. Very nice people, amazing dining options and breakfast. The breakfast was amazing wide selection and we were also looking forward to seeing Ida. Ida was very nice and always looked after us. The pools will keep you entertained forever with lazy river, rock jumps, two slides, spas, swim up bar and even an adults pool. The beach is so beautiful and close very short walk away from resort. Amazing architecture and designs. Staff were the best! : I couldn't believe how good Tina and Villi were at their job they were the best entertainment team ever! They were so nice and got everyone engaged and involved. They always made my day and everyone else's making us laugh and smile all the time. I appreciate them lots. I must say all the pool staff were nice especially sit. Going Down to breakfast was always a joy knowing Ida and Cd were they to look after us, always friendly and Charlton was also a great guy. The hotel has a good location on the beach but is located a 400 baht / 10 min taxi drive from the shopping and dining options of Patong, Karon beach town isn't within easy walking distance either. Karon beach is quiet by comparison to Patong. The building & rooms are clean but dated, with decor in various shades of pink and apricot. The water play and pool facilities were excellent & our son played in the pools, slides and lazy river constantly. Room cleaning was sporadic. Amenities not always replaced. Front desk and kids club didn't speak very good English at all. Trying to organise experiences, front desk would say 'you can call them' - of course normally the front desk would be delighted to call for customers and help confirm arrangements and timings etc. Disappointed by this, it was of no support at all. Terrible check out experience. After dealing with a mistake on our bill, we were told that taking the hotel taxi to the airport would be 1200 baht. We waited for 20 minutes and when it arrived, suddenly the price was 1900 baht and then, running late, we then had no time to organise another option ie local cab. Very annoying. Some research on google confirmed that a taxi from Karon beach to Patonga airport should be around 950 to 1200 baht, so we were well and truly ripped off. Leaves a bad taste and would not stay again..... Obviously the hotel gets a commission from this taxi company (I would guess around 700 Baht per trip)! Read less

I had an amazing stay and experience, the rooms were so nice with a great balcony view, comfy bed, cool big nice bathroom with a bath, delicious food, awesome fun big pool, and great service. The design of the resort is just stunning and makes you feel so special and you can legit walk out of the pool to the beach with waves and is a good beach to swim at, called Karon beach with parasailing and umbrellas down the other end. There were plenty of gorgeous sunsets that we saw from the balcony, pool, and beach. The resort had nice pathways with a river with fish in it and nice plants and trees. It’s a great location to travel to different activities like going to Patong and Kata which is really helpful. The hotel had security and would organise transport for you to get around with a nice lobby, entrance, seats, Starbucks cafe, gift shop, travel information table, and toilets. It is a big resort but it isn’t that busy or noisy so it’s really nice when walking around, swimming and eating at the restaurants which has amazing food choices to choose from. The pool has a fun section with 2 jump rocks one big and one small with deep water so you won’t touch the bottom, 2 slides and a little one, and has a waterfall. The pool had plenty of seating, sand, spa, adult pool, and a swim up pool bar. The resort had a spa place and a gym as well which looked good but never went in. The resort supplied swimming gear, towels, and things you can hire like a sea scooter. The entertainment was really good, Tina and Vili were very friendly, fun, happy, kind, and entertaining while in the pool and around the resort. We played many pool games, sport games, aqua aerobics, nice chats, and adults could play too. It made our stay and time happier, enjoyable, entertaining, and fun. The whole resort (Everyone) had great customer service and staff as well from the cleaners to reception, food truck, buffet, restaurants, pool bar, and had good English and were so kind. Ida, CD, David, Sat, Charlton, Santa, O, and many others were just very accommodating, caring, fast, friendly, approachable, calm, and happy! They all made our stay so very special, happy and enjoyable. I would recommend this resort to anyway coming to Phuket Thailand! Read less
