TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
The Grand Hyatt is most definitely a 5 star hotel in all aspects. We have stayed here on 3 occasions and each time it gets better. It's a convenient 10 minute taxi ride from the airport ( 30-40... Read more dirhams ). The lobby is spectacular. Check in was very easy and efficient and the front desk service was very warm and welcoming. We always have a city view room and purposely book room only (through Hyatt.com) so we can order b'fast in the room with views of the Khalifa tower ! We have eaten at Manhattan Grill - Andiamo Italian - Pannini - each restaurant we cannot fault. The spa and gym are both very good. The pool areas are excellent with plenty of loungers. Service is good with cold flannels, fruit juice and ice lollies handed out. For a stop over or short trip the Grand Hyatt is a perfect choice. Read less

Okay here goes, long time coming. Overall amazing place to stay, some issues do need addressing though. If you have young kids and are worried - do come here ! About 10 mins from airport... Read more , creekside park and Wafi mall nearby, Dubai mall about 15 mins drive otherwise isolated location. Large grounds, gardens, around 4 swimming pools, 2 pools dedicated for kids. Kids club, sauna, several restaurants, shops etc. Arrived about 10am for check in, booked Grand Deluxe room (inc club access), were escorted by reception person to club lounge to have breakfast as room not ready. Staff excellent in club lounge, very welcoming and friendly esp as we had two young kids with us (3 and 1). Got checked in within half an hour although normal check in is around 2pm. On 2nd floor, room very large, 2 kings, sofa, plenty of space for kids to run, walk in closet, huge bathroom, two sinks, shower and bath separate. Club lounge very well stocked, separate family area with tv and cartoons (although no sound for most of the time?), no restrictions on timing kids enter. Plenty of food at breakfast and evening. Outside serving time they leave fresh juices, fizzy bottles, different types of milk(very handy for little kids at night) and cappuccino / coffee machine available. They also leave variety of fruit available outside of serving hours. Staff don't hound you or police you, very easy going and it seems like they actually bother to know whose part of club lounge, were never asked for room number etc. Great service. At one point in the middle of the night we were looking for batteries and one of the staff members had it sent to us very quick. Another time we missed timing of breakfast but they still brought us food. Ate at Market cafe restaurant, kids eat free with paying adult. Great Arab and Italian food. Not impressed with Indian especially the biryani which was a complete waste of money. Cons On the first two days the Arab concierge we asked for info was really really helpful, never saw him after that but the rest of the concierge were very disappointing. I went to ask for Friday prayer timing and was blatantly told the wrong timing. He didn't know and had to ring his colleagues to find out. Nevertheless he told me 12pm which was an hour ago and actually was impossible to be correct. Quite annoyed at that. I did leave my phone in one of the taxi, the hotel actually has a policy for the people that get you out of taxi check it for you to ensure you don't leave something which I thought was brilliant. Anyhow, I managed to leave my phone in there, my fault entirely, within seconds I reported to the Indian concierge who I felt really dealt with the issue badly. I told him all the details and it took them over an hour to even check their CCTV for the taxi. I had to keep coming back to check progress as I wasn't convinced they were treating it properly. He then reported it to the RTA authority to investigate - fine, and told me I would be informed of updates. Restless after another hour I came down to find out, spoke to another concierge and he said they would let me know. I had to insist on him to check with RTA and when he did they had wanted to speak with me only for me to repeat the whole story again! So couple of hours wasted. Went to reception to get some more help or handle on the situation and all I got was a blank 'the concierge deal with lost and found' and that's it. I know it was my fault leaving the phone but the least I expect is a bit of reassurance and that someone is dealing with the issue properly as it is a very stressful situation to be in. Anyhow another hour later I kept ringing my mobile from hotel room and the taxi driver picked up. Very honest man, he came back to hotel to return the phone and guess what...he said he had rung Grand Hyatt as he thought I may have left the phone hours ago but no one acknowledged a missing phone. Had issues with TV in room, although Bang and Olufsen it kept switching off. Happened at least on 3 occasions and the kettle stopped boiling. Might be a good idea to provide a larger tv seeing how far the beds are from the tv. The hotel didn't offer any complimentary late check out seeing as we were paying around £400 a day for the room nor a transfer service. Little bits really do make the difference! Apart from that everything was perfect at this place, very welcoming to kids, would consider coming again but reception/concierge service needs to improve and they definitely need some sort of a dedicated incident management person. Even if I had not got my phone back, it would have been helpful for them to just take a moment to sit me down and talk through the process and my options, and maybe even provided me details for my home network operator so I could cancel the phone. It was a total mess the way it was dealt with. Hats off to the guys getting you in and out of the taxis, they work very hard and are a credit to Grand Hyatt. They repeatedly took the pram in and out of the taxi without asking and helped take the kids into the hotel. Beware of the taxis though, some of them don't know where they're going and sometimes they try to get you to change your mind on where to go because of perceived traffic or not enough money generated so make sure you tell the person calling the taxi for you to check with the driver. Also for little kids would be nice to see some toys in the family section, the fixed ones in a corner or something. Would be a good touch. Check out was smooth - bags picked up straight away when called, taxi made ready for us. Read less
