Queen Kapiolani Hotel

Honolulu, Oahu

Virgin rating

The hotel

Named after the beloved wife of Hawaii’s last king, Queen Kapiolani is something of a Waikiki landmark, paying homage to Hawaii’s majestic heritage and unique culture with a modern twist. Overlooking the sandiest stretch of Waikiki Beach, guests can enjoy stunning views of Diamond Head from the balconies of their newly renovated rooms, each and every one of them furnished in breezy Island style. As a change from the beach, laze beside the pool instead, dipping in every now and again to cool off. Although there are restaurants all around you, the hotel’s own Kulana is highly recommended, not just for buffet favourites but for its sweeping panoramic views! Pre-dinner, chill awhile at the Deck Pool, sipping on your favourite cocktail – a Mai Tai perhaps?

An EXCELLENT hotel! All the staff and agents were incredibly nice and hospitable. Truly, once you step foot in the hotel they treat you like family. A great experience for all those who are looking for a weekend getaway to celebrate a long holiday break.

Queen K has a great location at the quiet end of the Waikiki strip, opp the zoo and facing Diamond Head with Denny’s on one corner and starbucks on the other. We had 2 rooms with adult daughters in one with 2 queens and we had a king room. Knotts coffee shop is in the lobby is great and ice and water freely available nearby. it seems all the rooms have a small fridge. Warning for aussies… the cocktails at Deck are stronger tasting than we are used to! Staff at reception were very accomodating and every enquiry was dealt with quickly. Read less

This might be my favorite hotel in Waikiki, for so many reasons. The staff is fabulous, from desk clerks, to valet service to housecleaning and wait staff. This might be my favorite hotel in Waikiki, for so many reasons. The staff is fabulous, from desk clerks, to valet service to housecleaning and wait staff. I love the location, at a quieter end of Waikiki, just next to Kapiolani Park. We loved drinks and food at The Deck, with views of Diamond Head and the ocean, and we were regulars at Knots Coffee Shop in the lobby. We had a little balcony overlooking the park and ocean, and our room was spotless and spacious. The interior decor of the hotel is fresh, lively, airy, and beachy without being kitschy--the artwork and historical photos and info are fascinating as well. I took advantage of a few free yoga classes on the pool deck in the warm morning sunshine, overlooking Diamond Head--heavenly. Just around the corner is anything you'd ever want in Waikiki, but it's so peaceful not to be in the middle of it all. Just a short walk on the beach brings you to the Barefoot Beach Cafe, with great food for takeout or picnic table dining (no alcohol, just casual, great food). This was our first time there, but we'll definitely return. Read less
