Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort

Aruba, Caribbean

The hotel

When you’re beside one of the world’s most talked about beaches, it is only right you spend every waking moment on the sands. That’s why Amsterdam Manor even lets you dine with your toes in the pearl-white powder – on tables lit by romantic tiki torches, with the sound of the frothy surf rolling in. And it’s not just its restaurant that’s beach-top, it also serves up Caribbean-side cocktails and light lunches at its beach bar, and weekly movie nights on the sands. Just over the coastal road from Eagle Beach, the main hotel’s a showcase of Aruba’s Dutch Colonial architecture, with its cheery yellow buildings capped with burnt-orange tiles, and it’s home to another fabulous bar, the culinary global theme nights of Mangos, and a pool that does its utmost to beat the lure of the beautiful beach beyond it.

We wanted to stay on Eagle beach and have flexibility to get out around Aruba. Your hotel allows us to do that. The hotel is in a great location and provides all of the services we need for a relaxing holiday as well as access to any trips around the island.

The Amsterdam Manor is in the low rise hotel area in the beautiful Eagle Beach. It is very low key and much more quiet than Palm Beach where the high rise hotels are. We visited there during the day and it was packed with people. We always had a palapa and chairs available. The staff was very friendly. The room was a good size and we were very glad to have a kitchen. We didn't cook full meals, but had breakfast and lunch in the room. It was perfect for that. There's a stovetop microwave, toaster and crazy coffee machine. The only negative was the bed situation for my children was different than expected. It wasn't a fold out couch; it was a trundle style bed, but there was only a very thin mattress (if you could even call it that- that you unrolled out of a cabinet). For my teenagers, this was like laying on a board. We ended up having one daughter sleep with us in the king and the other stacked the 2 mats together and managed OK. And the bathroom didn't have a vent and the shower was open into the room, so it was wet all the time and very steamy. Not a reason not to stay here, but something to mention. We loved being able to walk directly out to the beach and could easily run back to our room. The road in front is a non-issue if you are worried about it. Minimal traffic and cars stop for you to cross. Both restaurants were very good. Expensive for breakfast which is why we ate in our room. We walked to Super Food and it had a lot of familiar options-- a little more expensive than home, but that was expected. (Make sure you take your own bags.) What surprised me most about the trip is that the entire island seems to shutdown by 10pm. Town closes around 6pm. I'm used to going out to shop or do other activities at the beach and that wasn't going to happen here. Aruba is beautiful and worth visiting at least once. The people really do seem to appreciate having the tourists there. Read less

The web site showed a big beautiful bedroom with full kitchen, when we arrived it wasn't anything like the site. I canceled my remaining nights and used hotels.com and found Amsterdam Manor with exceptional 9+ star reviews. Booked the remaining nights and wondered how I missed this place before when I was in Aruba? Wonderful helpful staff that go the extra mile to make sure the guests have the most pleasured experience while on vacation. Room had a beautiful view, it was spacious. The A/C was almost too cold and it got chilly a few times. :-) The white soft sandy beach was just across the street as was just perfect. For sure will stay here again as they treat guests like Kings and Queens unlike the Marriott where you are just a number. Read less
