I visited Cuba numerous times and the first visit at MMV made me realize what means a “gem hotel.” I named this place the hotel of happiness, since I have never stopped smiling and feeling happy from the moment I arrived until I left the hotel. There was lovely staff in that spotless location, which was ready to support our needs. Additionally, they spoiled us with fresh and tasty food and interesting entertainment. I am looking forward to spending another vacation at the 6the level of the hotel. Emily Read less

Well done to all the staff. We spent a fair amount of time in the lobby bar and the service was mostly good except around supper time.Too many guests and not enough staff.Someone took our drinks order then never returned.Increasing staff between six and eight would alleviate this problem. The staff are definitely overworked in that time period. We enjoyed the beautiful beach, the lovely pools and last but not least the courteous service received at this lovely property. Read less

We were there the last week of April, during Easter holidays and although the hotel was almost full, we never felt overcrowded. I’ve been to many all-inclusive resorts in Cuba and I was really pleased with the level of attention and good service of the entire personal of MMV, from the marvelous Yania (forgive me if misspelled please) and the rest of the front desk team, to the bartenders, the servers at the buffet and both the specialties restaurant we went –The Latin Don Ernesto Restaurant and the Casa Burguete French Restaurant both great; to the maids on our floor (big thank you Camila our maid) and the entire maintenance team. It’s really the human factor that makes Cuba a great travel destination. Our room was a Classic Room facing the pool side on the fifth floor and was very nice, love it that this hotel is a one building kind of hotel –not a bungalow style like many resort in the Caribbean – and makes it easy to access everywhere, from the rooms to restaurants, bars, the marina and pools, etc. Yes, the beach is across the street, but just a very short walk crossing a bridge over the main highway or for those with mobility issues or small kids, there’re golf carts to take you to/from the beach. The room layout is great; especially the window from the bathroom to the room, allowing you to take a bath while still talking to your companions in the room or having a drink… our room was in great condition, the furniture may need a bit refreshment and replaces in some case, but overall is a pretty new hotel and it look well kept; actually the AC in our room had a problem the first night but I was too tired to call front desk, and the next day was reported and the maintenance guy came and fixed it promptly the same morning. The pools look nice but lacking a bit of shade or greenery, but lot of people were having fun there; we never went to the pools but just because we preferred the beach and Varadero beach is amazing. The resort’s beach area is wide, with plenty of chairs and shade, we never needed to go early to reserve any chair, nor did we feel the “chairs towel mark” thing on the beach. Varadero beach never disappoints and this time the water was calm many days, crystal clear and warm. Luckily, we were blessed with a nice weather the entire stay, but keep in mind that in Cuba rains one or two hours, and then clears out and sun will be out –unless you go on hurricane season. Probably the not so good part of the stay is the food, but many travelers should know by now that Cuba all-inclusive isn’t a destination for foodies, unless you adventure outside the resorts and go to Havana, which is having a nice culinary rebirth entrepreneur movement. Overall in the MMV we never starved, there’s a buffet (B-L-D), specialties restaurants (we went to two, never had problems making reservations, tho the resort was almost full capacity), a snack bar at the pools and a mini-buffet for lunch at the beach (the least desired). Also, keep in mind this resort is in Marina Varadero and besides it’s what it feels like an extension of the resort with many shops, restaurants, ice-cream parlor and disco, but all out of the all-inclusive deal (extra $$); this give the resort a different vibe. Overall nice stay, pleased with the MMV and the personal who work really hard to make this resort a good choice. Room tip: try to get an upper floor room, 4 or 5 floor (top floor is for The Level) facing Marina is beautiful view but Pool side is quieter at night. Read less

We just returned from our second trip and have nothing but great things to say. The first point is the overall cleanliness of the entire resort both inside the hotel and the grounds. The staff are constantly cleaning. Our room was a 2 room suite on the level floor and our maid kept it spotless with fresh sheets, towels and the fridge was restocked daily. The food was very good and there was no shortage at all. The lobby bar staff were amazing and always had a smile and they had our drinks on the bar before we had a chance to reach it! Rosa and Andie kept us entertained for the entire week. Yeinsy from the sales team is an amazing lady and always worked to ensure our holiday was perfect. So if you would like to have an amazing holiday in a resort where the management and staff work tirelessly to ensure your holiday goes off without a hitch then book a trip to the Melia Marina Varadeo. One more point in 2 separate holidays we saw zero feral cats or dogs. Read less
