Mount Irvine Bay Resort

Tobago, Caribbean

The hotel

Once a sugar and coconut plantation, this seemingly endless estate covers 18-acres of tropical gardens and a neighbouring golf course, which features distractingly beautiful sea views from every one of its 18 holes. Just by staying at Mount Irvine Bay Resort, you become a member of this exclusive and award-winning golf club, and enjoy reduced green fees. It’s one of the personal touches that make this private hideaway different from your average Caribbean resort. Sophisticated yet carefree, you can flit between its beach, large pool, five bars, and three restaurants, all at your leisure. But the waterfront is the hub of the resort, with surfers to watch, snorkelling to experience, and annual events like the Barefoot on the Beach New Year’s Eve parties and April’s Jazz on the Beach fringe festivities.

Perfect location for snorkelling. The hotel has great history, as previously used as a Sugar Mill. Beach adjacent to hotel. Great staff, clean hotel, room includes a safe, free of charge. Could not ask for more. Definitely return to Mount Irvine Bay Hotel. A perfect holiday start to finish. Ami room 63

This staff is attentive and appreciative of feedback. After I gave them a less than stellar rating, they took every measure to ensure I had a comfortable stay and fun excursions. The reception desk helped with the booking of tours and informed me when there were problems (unfortunately the island experienced power outages and lack of water). Additionally, I was upgraded to a cottage with much better amenities. And although the location is perfect-within walking distance of the beach-the hotel still requires a bit of sprucing up. The fixtures, furniture and paint could all use a touch of TLC. Finally, there is a fine breakfast served daily by warm attendants who will make you full with laughter, but I would not stick around for dinner. In sum, this hotel is brought to life by its helpful and patient staff; if the surroundings could meet the quality of the service the hotel would receive five stars. Read less

Peaceful and relaxing setting. The golf course slopes gently to the sea and the bay below. The breakfast is served on the patio of the Old Sugar Mill and the scenery is idyllic. The room was just right as well, and the room I had looked out to a grassy area with other rooms discretely situated so there was no sense of crowding
