Mount Irvine Bay Resort

Tobago, Caribbean

The hotel

Once a sugar and coconut plantation, this seemingly endless estate covers 18-acres of tropical gardens and a neighbouring golf course, which features distractingly beautiful sea views from every one of its 18 holes. Just by staying at Mount Irvine Bay Resort, you become a member of this exclusive and award-winning golf club, and enjoy reduced green fees. It’s one of the personal touches that make this private hideaway different from your average Caribbean resort. Sophisticated yet carefree, you can flit between its beach, large pool, five bars, and three restaurants, all at your leisure. But the waterfront is the hub of the resort, with surfers to watch, snorkelling to experience, and annual events like the Barefoot on the Beach New Year’s Eve parties and April’s Jazz on the Beach fringe festivities.

Very welcoming and rum punch was nice touch and delicious. Room was standard, we were given one of the cottages but it worked and was very spacious. Had 2 beds and sofa bed. Breakfast each morning was delicious and the common areas are very modern and comfy. Great Beach is directly across the street and good bar with tasty menu and even better drinks. Would definitely stay here again if we return to Tobago. Read less

Rain all day, bummer! Decided to take a nap... at approximately 2:30pm, lights off, AC off, NO WATER, current went! We decided to go out for food and drinks. Returned to the hotel at around 7pm, whole place in darkness! Seeing flashlight and lanterns! I had to count to 10... about 100 times! They asked us to give them an hour, T&Tec is trying to rectify the issue. Decided to go back to lime and returned to the hotel at mins to 10. DARKNESS!!! Here are some of the things the GENERAL MANAGER told me that made me completely lose it! I'm asking him if I'm expected to sleep here in the darkness. His reply, "I sleep in darkness every night, don't you?" How am I going to shower, I haven't showered. His reply, "There's a shower on the golf course". "You have to understand this isn't my fault" So I wanna know if it's mine! Anyways I made him understand that I'm NOT staying here! I have never received customer service like this ever in my life! Needless to say I was on 100! Mt. Irvin Bay Resort will NEVERRRRR get my money ever in life again! Read less

A chilled hotel with a lovely pool and direct access to a beautiful beach. A quiet area, so this is a place to stay to get away from it all. A short drive to bars and nightlife. Ideal for couples and families.

Here goes nice welcome with a rum punch for me and my partner on check in but it went downhill from there has the room was a bit dated the was rust in the sink and bath phone not working no fridge in room no netting’s for flies mosquitos etc . So we asked for a room change which the lovely Joelle at reception was happy to oblige she was very helpful the room was basic but hotel advertised it has superior to me it was basic ac was not working properly we had it on nearly all our stay and rooms were still humid. Breakfast was slow not much choice egg lady seem like she didn’t want to be there we always had to wait for our eggs which is totally wrong bacon was hard and cold there were no coffee we had to ask every day .. they should be asking us when we did get coffee no cutlery so had to ask for teaspoon the Custormer service was in my opinion embarrassing .. also had to contend with birds flying around the tables eating the scraps on the plate has the staff were slow to clear the tables.. the tablecloth needed ironing we saw birds pooping on the chairs while having breakfast it was not a nice overall experience ... the evening meals we had in the hotel restaurant was overpriced and bland the fish was tough to chew my burger bun was dry just a all round bad experience at this hotel would not recommend .. has the staff were not engaging the whole set up seems unprofessional to us will never go back to this hotel Read less

She learned our names and personally greeted us Everytime she saw us, she's definitely a gem. Nicholas was gracious enough to show us to our room. In all honesty this resort lacked a few amenities that I'm used you. The staff made up for it by making you feel like family. After expressing a few minor concerns to Vidya she immediately stepped in and went above and beyond to make sure the remainder of our stay was excellent. We've made a lifelong friend in her. Russell at the pool side bar was awesome. Carlene the housekeeper did an great job with our room. Overall this resort is a hideaway that's great for getting away to relax and enjoy it's amazing scenery. Read less
