Mount Irvine Bay Resort

Tobago, Caribbean

The hotel

Once a sugar and coconut plantation, this seemingly endless estate covers 18-acres of tropical gardens and a neighbouring golf course, which features distractingly beautiful sea views from every one of its 18 holes. Just by staying at Mount Irvine Bay Resort, you become a member of this exclusive and award-winning golf club, and enjoy reduced green fees. It’s one of the personal touches that make this private hideaway different from your average Caribbean resort. Sophisticated yet carefree, you can flit between its beach, large pool, five bars, and three restaurants, all at your leisure. But the waterfront is the hub of the resort, with surfers to watch, snorkelling to experience, and annual events like the Barefoot on the Beach New Year’s Eve parties and April’s Jazz on the Beach fringe festivities.

The exterior of the hotel was beautiful, I really liked the layout and design. However, my room was a bit disappointing as the lighting was really poor and wasn't a fridge/chiller. The bathroom needs a bit of work. On a lighter note, the staff did a great job in tidying up the apartment. The customer service was generally okay. The kitchen staff… Read more

The bathroom needs a bit of work. On a lighter note, the staff did a great job in tidying up the apartment. The customer service was generally okay. The kitchen staff were really friendly and the food for breakfast was delish. The Swimming pool was amazing, with its depth ranging from 3ft to 10ft and it was open from 6am to 6pm.(i wish it was a little later). Check-in and Check-out was simple and quick. The mt Irvine beach was a 5 minute walk away and it was lovely. Read less

I stayed here for 12 nights and it's a beautiful place. I love that it was away from all the bustle and just across from the beach. The staff was very pleasant and especially Carvey our housekeeper and one of the sweetest lady in the restaurant name Joanne. They, among others made our stay most comfortable. I'm sure I'll be back again!

Stayed here with my wife on the occasion of our 51st wedding anniversary. We could not have chosen a better place to stay. The resort setting and ambience is lovely. The staff were wonderful: from Tia in Reservations, Avion at the Front Desk, Maria in the Restaurant, to Andrew at the Beach Facility: all the staff were cheerful, polite and helpful. The seabathing at the beach across the road was probably the best on the island and the complimentary beach chairs and umbrella (good sturdy ones) were most welcome. For golfers, the highly rated Mt. Irvine Golf Course is adjacent to the hotel. The location with regard to restaurants and beaches is excellent - no more than 10 minutes by car from the best in the island. I recommend renting a car for your stay since there isn't too much within walking distance - except the fabulous hotel beach of course. I recommended the upgraded Deluxe rooms which have all facilities, including a medium-sized fridge and a modern combination safe. Good value for money. We felt safe at all times. The only downside was the unavailability of many items on the restaurant lunch menu - but I guess this is affected by occupancy levels. It really didn't affect us much since we had a car and so many bars and restaurants are mere minutes away. I would certainly highly recommend the Mt. Irvine Bay Resort and will be returning. The staff at the bar were very unfriendly. They did not say hello or good morning. No atmosphere at all. I don't understand the fee to use the bathroom if you are ordering drinks at the bar. The lady who served us was just so rude she made the stay come to a bitter end.

The hotel's employees were quite amiable and customer-oriented - worthy of commendation. Breakfast was standard fare; I had no complaints about the quality. Lunch and dinner were okay, but I would be hard pressed to justify the price for dinner. Room was comfortable, and relatively clean. Lunch and dinner were okay, but I would be hard pressed to justify the price for dinner. Room was comfortable, and relatively clean. The outdoor facilities were in good condition, with nice views of the sea from the restaurant. The general ambience was of peace and quiet. I would visit again, but would purchase dinner elsewhere.
