This is an amazing property. I love the way you can sit on the deck by the pool and overlook the gulf. We saw many dolphins and even several manatees. Wow! The only issue was that they were way into the mask mandate, even though Florida was supposed to be “open”. They discontinued things like daily room cleaning and cookies in the lobby,… Read more

The only issue was that they were way into the mask mandate, even though Florida was supposed to be “open”. They discontinued things like daily room cleaning and cookies in the lobby, claiming it was due to “covid”. Didn’t make much sense. When this is all over, it is a great place to go. Great restaurants all around the property, in walking distance. Read less

We brought the entire family down for Spring Break in April. the hotel location was perfect for us as we prefer to walk if possible. With one exception (the aquarium), we never touched the car during the trip. The staff was very friendly and while pool chairs were at a premium, the gentlemen around the pool worked diligently to fid seats for our family. Around the pool, the waitstaff was available friendly when needed. We had a one bedroom suite which offered stunning sunset views. The room was plenty big for 2 adults and 3 young children. The room was clean upon arrival and stocked with plenty of towels since housekeeping came every other day. Overall, highly recommend. Read less

Felt compelled to write a review for OSR as many reviews are not representative of our experience. My wife and I stayed at the resort April 30-May 3rd and had an amazing time. The staff was professional, helpful and accommodating. Particular shoutout to the service staff who were beyond attentive and friendly (Emily and Lauren for poolside service and Ethan at breakfast). The food is about what you’d expect from hotel food. They were unfortunately out of several items when we visited (pizzas, cheese plate), which was disappointing, but didn’t hinder our overall enjoyment. We ate at all three restaurants during our stay. The Opal IPA was tasty, as was the coconut blueberry mojito. The views from virtually anywhere on the property, including the room balcony, cannot be beat. There’s also easy access to beautiful Clearwater beach and live music every day we were there (soloist and guitar - talented, too!). Hotel has signs posted regarding COVID protocols and mask-wearing. Unfortunately, not all patrons comply, but I don’t fault the hotel for that. Room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable, and each floor has fresh cookies, bottles of water, and fruit daily (amenities included in the daily resort fee). Beautiful shower and nice customized toiletries. I would recommend staying on Clearwater beach, as the traffic on and off the island was insane. We didn’t even rent a car - just took car services - as there’s really no reason to leave the resort. Even on the busiest day, Saturday, we were still able to get pool chairs and the towel service men were very helpful! Yes there were kids, but it wasn’t overwhelming. Some reviews noted people were in the pool area who were not guests, but we didn’t experience that. Everyone we saw was wearing a wristband and even when we first arrived (not having been able to check in yet) they wouldn’t let us in the pool area without the bands. Overall, would recommend this resort to families and couples from all walks of life! Was inclusive and enjoyable- we look forward to returning! Read less

Overpriced hotel considering the lack of true amenities when paying over 500 a night. Rooms are great and all considering it was a recent build. Overpriced hotel considering the lack of true amenities when paying over 500 a night. Rooms are great and all considering it was a recent build. Issues is when you step into a place like this you should be treated with white glove service. Main reason we are here is because my pregnant wife wanted to stay here so she can easily get a prenatal massage which we were only able to book at 9am on our departure day.. I got a call 18 hours before the appt saying it was canceled bc therapist called in sick which is good but they staff was not able to make up for this horrible experience that my wife now has to go thru. I would have stayed at the God dam motel across the street if I knew I was not getting a massage for my pregnant wife. F Opal sands.... last note, the lady at the spa had the nerve to direct me to the Wyndham spa???? Why the hell would you yell me to go to a competitor and not even you sister facility who was unfortunately booked as well. Way batter places than the opal to stay at. This place is NOT worth 500+ a night. You have to even pay for beach chairs and umbrellas. Stay elsewhere at all costs Read less

So we came here not knowing we would be paying $700 a night for glam trash. It’s a lovely hotel with amazing views ruined by loud unmasked guests, crappy music blasting almost 12 hrs a day literally starting at 8am! The food is pretty good and the gym has 2 pelotons which was great. However, the idea thus hotel has the caliber to be named an award winning resort (really Condé Nast?!) is a joke! They don’t even have a newspaper to buy (yes I’m a proud snobby New Englander who wants to read the newspaper daily! ). There are almost never any chairs at the noisy, loud, kid infested pool and they are so close together it seems they forgot about the pandemic. The masks are not enforced even inside by both guests and staff. Apparently this is a Florida thing so highly recommend not going here unless you want spring break vibes and drunk ppl all around you with no masks and loud music blaring 24/7. I asked them if they could start the music later and turn it down, staff might as well laughed at me. This morning there was a jet ski presentation that was sounded like 20 motorcycles circling the place. I guess there no such thing here as quiet and a chance to enjoy the tranquil sea sounds - what a waste of a beautiful property! Read less
