Special shout-out to our server Christine S! She was so professional, efficient yet friendly. I personally was a waitress for many years through high school and college so really appreciate it when someone is going the extra mile and taking care of everyone. She and her team were fantastic and memorable. The food is always special with homemade pastas, fresh fish and the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant are really special. Try to eat here during sunset for amazing views. Highly recommend for a special night out in Clearwater. Read less

The restaurant was struggling a little in the service area. We are not sure if it is due to trying to restaff from COVID. The breakfast buffet was the way to go for variety and price. The pool serving staff was awesome, friendly and efficient. The Sandbar after dinner was a great spot to relax, have fun and watch the sunset. Matt keeps the Sandbar alive. Two things not terrible but not at the top of our list are the pool is too small for the number of accommodations at this hotel and though you have easy access to the beach, it is the public beach. Now maybe we are comparing it to our stay at Opal's sister hotel Sand Pearl in Sept of 2020 where the pool is amazing and a section of the beach is strictly for Sand Pearl guest. Both of these hotels can be a little pricey but you get what you pay for. We like a little more upscale but not over the top elaborate.. We felt both of these hotels fell into this catagory. We were there on a crowded Memorial Day weekend & masked staff were pleasant & unfailingly polite. We ate outside the Sea-guini with marvelous food, enjoyed good food & drinks at the Sandbar & ok food at the Pool Bar. We had the best day lounging gulfside by the pool, watching the manatees below and being waited on by smiling staff. The beach… Read more

The hotel and its amenities were fine. The staff was fantastic, extremely helpful and courteous. However, the beach is TERRIBLE. It’s a public access point so extremely overcrowded. The hotel and its amenities were fine. The staff was fantastic, extremely helpful and courteous. However, the beach is TERRIBLE. It’s a public access point so extremely overcrowded. If I am at a resort, I want private beach access. In addition, my kids were bored quickly with the ocean. It’s like a lake. We have traveled to panhandle and east coach beaches and both had different amounts of waves, but still waves. This is like a lake with a ripple. Again, the hotel is lovely but if a beach vacation is what your family is wanting, this is not the place. Read less
