This was one of the worst experiences in a hotel that I have had. The internet and TV went down for one day and continued into the next day. They said that it was out of their control, but this did not happen to the entire area or block. It was only this hotel. They chose the supplier and had no emergency provisions with the company. So they had to wait until the service department opened on Monday morning. The electricity was a little squirrely. Several of the plugs would go off and on. This occurred for different plugs and different devices. We called the electrician who switched two lamps on and off and said he had no idea what was wrong and left. There was no microwave in the room. If you wanted anything heated you had to go down the hall and use the communal microwave. The hotel advertises that it is pet friendly so we traveled with our 2 1/2 pound dog. The daily fee for a dog is $75. We stayed three nights and were told that the room would not be cleaned during our stay. I questioned why there was then a daily fee and not a fee just for the stay since presumably there is a special cleaning that warrants the $75 fee which would have been fine with me. The person who checked us in explained that they charge such a high daily fee to discourage people from bringing their pets. And the area on the hotel property to walk a dog is a patch of grass about 5 feet by 5 feet. Not at all pet friendly. Because I complained, they did reimburse me for the pet fee but no consideration for no TV and no internet. We were just out of luck paying $311 a night in what was supposed to be a Premium King room. Read less

We had a lovely weekend at the Opal Sands. Great location with beautiful views. The hotel was kept up very well and the rooms were large and well appointed. My only disappointment was having my favorite Ralph Lauren bathing suit completely ruined due to strong chemicals in the hot tub. After my bathing suit was completely bleached from royal blue to faded blue and white, we would not use the hot tub again for the remainder of our stay. When I brought it to the attention of the front desk to ensure someone would address the harsh chemicals in the hot tub, I was just met with an insincere weak apology. The chemical smell was still extremely strong the next day which led me to believe nothing had been done to correct the issue. Fortunately I was able to purchase another bathing suit online to replace the one ruined by the hot tub. It was an additional expense I could have avoided if there was at last a sign at the hot tub to warn people that the chemicals may have an adverse effect of bathing suits. We do have a hot tub at home and have used plenty of resort hot tubs without any issues in the past. I would stay again, however, I would not use the hot tub and the customer service is very poor considering the fact that it’s such a beautiful resort. Room 811 Sept 13-15 Read less

He greeted us, took our luggage, and helped us quickly check in. He was so friendly and extremely helpful! The pool was immaculate and had the perfect view! Jace helped us setup our chairs every day, always remembered us, and frequently checked on us throughout the days. Megan (the waitress at the pool) was awesome, made great drink recommendations, and made sure we were always taken care of. The room was so pretty, and we had an amazing view on the top floor. I highly recommend Seaguini whether you’re staying at the hotel or not. Great espresso martinis and wine list, we had the seafood ciopinno and lobster pasta for dinner which were excellent. We’ve stayed at multiple hotels in Clearwater before, but Opal Sands is by far our favorite! We will be returning! Read less

Megan and Sydney at the pool and Stephen in the restaurant were all the very best servers, people, etc that you could hope to find. I see a recent negative review regarding that weekend, and I actually recognize the person who wrote that post by them saying those same comments to staff nearby and who was screaming not family friendly words at an incredibly peaceful, proud, mask wearing group of vietnamese-americans who were simply celebrating their immigration from communist Vietnam to the United States where they have the freedom to wear whatever hats, shirts, masks, and wave flags (never in anyone's face) that they want. I enjoyed watching the celebration and talking to some of these kind folks and learning their story. I'm sure the Opal Sands did not endorse views one way or another, but it was a fun celebration that they allowed to take place! The angry reviewer was right in that no masks were worn in the pool, but I mean DUH, it's a pool at a resort, you knew what you were getting into. Stay home if you hate having an amazing time! This was our first experience at the Opal Sands, and we decided we will be returning each year for a family vacation. Bravo Opal Sands, bravo! :) Read less

I did not feel safe for my family to be in the lobby or the pool area. We did not enjoy hearing the Trump chants or seeing the flags being waved in our faces.
