Opal Sands Resort

Clearwater, Clearwater and St Pete

The hotel

The Gulf of Mexico greets you at every twist and turn of this coastal chic retreat. The clever curve design guarantees a waterfront view from every guestroom, with floor-to-ceiling glass and private balconies maximising the impact. The to-die-for Clearwater Beach setting’s echoed in the sand and sea colour scheme, and in the artworks created and curated by artist Christopher Still. But, step outside, and the real thing’s right there – with Gulf views from its zero-entry pool, accessorised with a hot tub, palm trees, and ocean-blue loungers. The seafront scene also welcomes you to every dining and drinking venue at Opal Sands. From the beachside tiki bar to Sea-Guini, with its fresh seafood and Italian-inspired selections, you’ll find the perfect pit stop whether you’ve been putting your feet up at the spa or putting them down on the complimentary bikes.

Vilmary made checking in a breeze. Jenny, the concierge is extremely attentive and catered to my needs. Amanda was training a new server, but was very attentive. She made sure I had the perfect omelet. J.J. at the bar is the MAN! Makes the best drinks ever!.

We stay in Clearwater at The Opal Sands Resort for the first time 11/8/19 through 11/11/19. The resort is very beautiful, clean, and is located in walking distance of everything including the marina. It is also one of the few resorts that is located right on the beach so that you do not have to cross the street. The view from our balcony was picturesque and there is a open free pantry on each floor with water, fruits, and snacks that is refilled every day. The pool is lively but not too loud with plenty of seating along with a bar. Right next to the pool there is a grassy area with cornhole that has amazing ocean views. There is also a large hot tube located on the other side of the pool area. On the lower level below the pool there is a Tiki hut surround by sand that has great food and drinks with daily live music till about 9 pm. The service at the pool is wonderful and there is always plenty of clean towels. Lastly, and most importantly the food is really amazing at this resort. We ate all over Clear water and found the best food to be at Opal Sands. From the salmon at breakfast, the extremely large lobster rolls, to the peel and eat shrimp at the Tiki bar everything was delicious, fresh, and amazing! Very high class resort that I would recommend staying at. Read less

So the things that take it down to a four star are small, but matter none the less. My family and I stayed for a week and for the entire week there was a broken piece of equipment (leg lift weights) in the gym, a broken sink in the public bathroom and not once was the glass on the balcony barrier cleaned (people before us that occupied our room… Read more
So the things that take it down to a four star are small, but matter none the less. My family and I stayed for a week and for the entire week there was a broken piece of equipment (leg lift weights) in the gym, a broken sink in the public bathroom and not once was the glass on the balcony barrier cleaned (people before us that occupied our room clearly had a toddler who left dirty hand prints all over it). So, three things that were not cared for in one week’s time. Yes, I agree with a previous reviewer that the fee for a coffee on the first floor is outrageous. You certainly expect to pay a premium but $7.50 for a very small latte? Now for the good stuff : the decor throughout the hotel is lovely. The hotel staff I found to be always friendly. Pool was clean and relaxing. Access to the beach fantastic. Love the fact the pool towel service people don’t treat you like you’re about to steal the towels (my experience at other resorts where you have to practically sign your life away to get your hands on one). Sea Guini restaurant just amazing in every way. The pantry is a nice touch: drank plenty of water and ate more fresh cookies than we should have ! The view from our room was gorgeous. Would I stay again? Absolutely! Is the place perfection? No it isn’t but I haven’t found a Clearwater resort that is and I’ve been there numerous times. Read less

Opal Sands is a gorgeous property with awesome people - staff who truly pay attention to detail. I’ve stayed at dog-friendly places before but the Opal Paws program is truly the best I have ever experienced! The overnight fee includes a dog blanket that I used to ensure Bean could be close to me but keep the premises especially clean, too. The… Read more

I’ve stayed at dog-friendly places before but the Opal Paws program is truly the best I have ever experienced! The overnight fee includes a dog blanket that I used to ensure Bean could be close to me but keep the premises especially clean, too. The package also included great info on any needs like emergency vet services, groomers and dog walkers nearby. They have a special door tag, doggie cushion, water bowl and treats too. I would highly recommend this pet-friendly luxury hotel. Read less

We decided to visit Opal Sands for a quick trip to the warmth of Florida. We we're lucky to receive an upgrade to a one bedroom suite. The hotel is very clean and well kept. The staff is awesome. Definitely enjoyed talking to Nick out at the Sand Bar. It wasn't great weather but the staff did everything they could to still make the trip fun.
