The Don Cesar

St Pete Beach, Clearwater & St Pete

The hotel

The stomping ground of celebrities past and present (think F Scott Fitzgerald in earlier years and Justin Timberlake more recently), The Don CeSar Hotel is regarded as Florida’s legendary Pink Palace. Registered with the Historic Hotels of America, it effortlessly blends the Great Gatsby era of pampering with modern European grandeur. Picture-perfect in every way, the beach is a wonderful place to relax or indulge in a variety of exciting water sports – kite surfing anyone? There are also 2 beautifully furnished beachfront swimming pools to take advantage of, so grab a good book and some sun cream and enjoy! Whilst you’re busy, chilling out or enjoying a pampering session at the spa perhaps, the kids will be having at ball at Camp Cesar. Enjoy the family-friendly touches – there are kid’s menus and even a cupboard full of toys to play with! Even a dedicated retail shop carrying all the essentials to keep kids and teens happy and active. At Camp Cesar, however, they’ll have the time of their lives, participating in beach crafts, seashell hunting, castle contests and pool games. Dine around The Don at one of our many restaurants or lounges. Enjoy dining al fresco for Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner at Sea Porch, experience an exquisite evening at Maritana Grille, or take in the stunning sunset views with coastal cuisine and cool cocktails at Rowe Bar.

The rooms are small but housekeeping is exceptional. The location is wonderful as is the white sand beach. I enjoy the beach yoga with Elizabeth tremendously. Donald at the hair salon is excellent. He knows what he is doing and you come out with a smile. The pools are great but filled with children and if you have children that is a plus. If you don't, not so much. Sea Porch, stay away. The service is awful even if you just order soup and salad. Be prepared to wait over 40 minutes for the salad. Wait staff blamed the kitchen. Go, enjoy, soak up the sun on the amazing beach. We enjoyed our stay at the Don Cesar. The pool and beach area wasn’t over crowded, the guys working the beach area were great. Especially Jukobi, he helped us get situated and wasn’t worried about a tip bc we had no change. Great guy and has really good customer skills. We looked forward to our next visit.

Friendly doormen, valet parking, and champagne at check in all await you. However, do not be surprised at the large bill at the end of your stay, it comes with whole package. We spent a weekend at the Don CeSar celebrating my mother’s 80th birthday. It real is lovely. Our room was spacious and the amenities were great. We didn’t pay for an ocean view, but had a slight one from our window. The beach is fantastic and the attendants were helpful in finding an umbrella, since the sun was very hot. We ate a satisfying lunch by the pool and an ample breakfast in the restaurant. Overall, an expensive, but very good stay and experience. Read less

We stayed at the Don Cesar for 4 days in May 2019, kids had a great experience and had a blast riding kayaks and jet skis! Food was great, rooms were very clean. Blake was the best, he was extremely helpful!

We arrived early but the men at the door were great. Even better our room was ready early . We had been up since 345 AM and had not eaten so we went to the sea porch for breakfast . My husband and I each ordered the omelet . Unfortunately they put my cheese in his omelet . Not a good start . Our room was very nice , small bathroom , no view but very clean comfortable bed , nicely decorated etc. we went out to the beach and were told that the servers would be around for ordering food and drink . The server that was working on 5/10 was working hard at trying to get a date . He would sit with the young girl groups for 15 to 20 minutes . Totally ignored us . When I mentioned it to the guy putting umbrellas up who had said to let him know if we needed anything he said oh it’s a big beach ( by this time there were not many people on the beach ) and we could always walk up and get a drink . These were the only 2 people we found issues with . The server on Saturday had many more people to cover and did so efficiently and without excuses. He was great . The beach was great , we ate several more meals at the sea porch and they were good. The alcoholic beverages were pricey ( which we expected ) but also full of mostly ice . The frozen drinks were very heavy on the sugar light on the alcohol. Overall this was one of my favorite beach vacations though and would definitely return to this hotel . Also we were not aware that this was a topless beach . A women who was obviously very well know to the staff on 5/10 walked out with only a string bottom on. If this is allowed it should be noted somewhere . I felt bad for the numerous families there with little kids . Read less
