The Don Cesar

St Pete Beach, Clearwater and St Pete

The hotel

The stomping ground of celebrities past and present (think F Scott Fitzgerald in earlier years and Justin Timberlake more recently), The Don CeSar Hotel is regarded as Florida’s legendary Pink Palace. Registered with the Historic Hotels of America, it effortlessly blends the Great Gatsby era of pampering with modern European grandeur. Picture-perfect in every way, the beach is a wonderful place to relax or indulge in a variety of exciting water sports – kite surfing anyone? There are also 2 beautifully furnished beachfront swimming pools to take advantage of, so grab a good book and some sun cream and enjoy! Whilst you’re busy, chilling out or enjoying a pampering session at the spa perhaps, the kids will be having at ball at Camp Cesar. Enjoy the family-friendly touches – there are kid’s menus and even a cupboard full of toys to play with! Even a dedicated retail shop carrying all the essentials to keep kids and teens happy and active. At Camp Cesar, however, they’ll have the time of their lives, participating in beach crafts, seashell hunting, castle contests and pool games. Dine around The Don at one of our many restaurants or lounges. Enjoy dining al fresco for Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner at Sea Porch, experience an exquisite evening at Maritana Grille, or take in the stunning sunset views with coastal cuisine and cool cocktails at Rowe Bar.

The Don is our go to beach spot. It has a relaxing vibe and good drinks, and the staff are always great. Chris down at the beach rentals went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for a great afternoon. Can’t wait to come back again soon!

Always nice to return to the Don. They are constantly upgrading the property - which is good and bad. The Maritana Grill and the Lobby bar/sitting area were totally closed for renovation. While I am sure it will be beautiful, we were never informed of the closed spaces BEFORE we arrived, or when we booked. No compensation for the lack of… Read more

This hotel does not deserve all the great reviews. The physical property/grounds/pool are lovely. But the rooms are seriously in need of a redo! Especially the bathrooms! No fans so mirrors are fogged for a half hour and water doesn't drain fast enough in shower, so youre standing in 4inches of water. Tubs are ancient. Blech. But the worst is… Read more
This hotel does not deserve all the great reviews. The physical property/grounds/pool are lovely. But the rooms are seriously in need of a redo! Especially the bathrooms! No fans so mirrors are fogged for a half hour and water doesn't drain fast enough in shower, so youre standing in 4inches of water. Tubs are ancient. Blech. But the worst is that there were bugs in my room- multiple small ones on the windows that we did not see till we woke up after first night there. My husband lost his mind when he saw a bug in one piece of luggage that was placed on the dresser. He had trouble getting it bc it moved so fast and thought it was a roach, I went down to front desk not knowing what to do. We wanted to check out instantly, but we had two couples waiting for us by the pool and didn't want to ruin a whole day by moving hotels. Not only that but I foolishly booked through a third party and was not confident we'd be able to get our money back. The older man who runs the front desk should not be in the position of being the face of the hotel. We had already met him when we checked in and waited 25 min on a line of one. He struggles with the computer and is not friendly or welcoming. I told him the bug situation. There was no reaction nor apology. He simply looked at the computer to find another room for us. I asked him if bugs are a problem at the hotel. He said no. Finally, he gave me keys to a different room. Ironically another guest walked up and reported he had an ant problem in his room! So there you go. When I got back to the room I called the offices behind the front desk. I spoke to a women who was more apologetic. She said she would give us a $200 credit towards food/beverage. We decided we'd just throw out our luggage and send our clothes home via fedex. We are serious bug phobes and have friends that have brought home bugs from hotels. Anyway lost luggage, 85$ to ship and oh get this. Our bill did not take off the $200 and when I complained to another front desk man, David, at the at our departure he told me that there were no notes on our reservation with anything about that! He tells me, "Oh you should always make sure they put a note like that with your reservation!" I said, "No, that is your job!" Anyway, basically, they did not make good on the credit and we just gave up because friends were waiting out front to drive us to the airport. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Read less
