The rooms have great views. The Service is great. Rooms renovation is great. The staff were very pleasant, especially Housekeeping Sameer. He went out of the way to make sure the room was kept in pristine condition and my stay was enjoyable.

It is hardly happening that we give 1 Star ratings, but this so called top of range Waldorf Astoria at the Palm in Dubai justifies it unfortunately. We came from the Waldorf Astoria at DIFC (please refer to my 5 start rating there) and were hopeful to find an equally great Hotel, but our disappointment started already the minute we arrived on site. No assistance with luggage (ok, I can manage myself), bad English speaking receptionist without any feel for hospitality and how to welcome guests, no recognition of (Diamond) status etc etc. We saw already the upgrade given in the app before we arrived and we were happy about it. However, when we arrived they found out that our daughter is 15 and not a baby anymore (obviously they were not able to read my booking) and then they let us know that they ran out of extra beds (can you believe this for such sizable Hotel ?) - so, in the end we did not get upgrade, fine - I am used to this in the meantime. It was more the way of communication that upsets me than not getting a better room. Room as such was quite basic (a difference from earth to moon compared to DIFC), but fine again. Executive Club was mega crowded, many families with young kids, quality of food was at best average and the beverages were 1.99 GBP Salisbury wine level. Staff was halfway friendly, but again you didn't feel welcomed again. Breakfast at the Club was mega busy and it took sometimes 20 Minutes to get a coffee, but that was fine too as we had to wait for a table for 4 anyhow. The Pool was overcrowded as the Hotel offers day memberships and you have all the expat families with many kids coming during day time and keep the area busy and more importantly loud. Gym has no atmosphere, SPA area was dirty and moldy, balcony furniture was to ugly to sit on, not every day sun-down service, room not cleaned by afternoon (only when I called at 4pm), no late check-out possible (despite my membership) and again, it was the rude way of telling it to us than the fact that we had to leave the room by normal check out time - I can go on and on. Not sure why people give 5 stars for this property. This Hotel seems to have a massive Leadership issue (management was anyhow not visible). Anyway - we have been there twice, first- and last time. Amazing food, especially lamp chops. Waiters Krishna and Ashen were very professional and attentive, always on time to refill our glasses. Music was at just the right volume, loud enough to enjoy and silent enough to have a normal conversation.

We love this hotel so much, it is the 5th time we have been to the WA and every time we know why we come back again and again. The service, the cleanliness and the above and beyond way we are treated is superb. Special shout outs to Nikhil in Social, Akram, Taimur, John and Dennis at the beach and Alex and Lukhuir at Lao. They made our experience even better. I came to celebrate my birthday and it was fantastic, I had told some of the staff that I was celebrating and subsequently had a chocolate cake, a vanilla cheesecake plus smoothie then on Thursday I had a banana fritter dessert in Lao and in Social a pastry dessert plus petit fours to celebrate. A special mention to Tilak who serviced the rooms and made fantastic figures out of the towels. We cannot wait to be back and see all of our friends at the WA. Read less
