W Dubai - The Palm

Dubai Beach, Dubai Beaches and beyond

The hotel

Arguably the globe’s coolest name in hotels, the W has finally hit Dubai’s coveted Palm Jumeirah neighbourhood. Seriously stylish, it brings the W’s famous VIP vibe with it, with audacious design and décor; Michelin-starred masterchefs at its signature dining venues; a spa that mixes chilled massages with playful party-prep treatments like coloured lashes; and chic hangout spaces like SoBe – a rooftop bar with 360 degree views over Dubai’s skyscrapers and the Arabian Sea. The fashionable feel continues down at W The Palm Dubai’s WET Deck, where you’ll find a pristine sandy shoreline, DJ booth, and space-age cabana pods sitting on pool-top platforms.

The W Dubai is an absolutely stunning property and our experience was made all the more delightful by the fantastic staff at the property. We were there for work, and over a weekend, and the pool staff in particular make us feel very comfortable. Willis was an absolute rock star, ensuring we were well fed, hydrated and cared for. Thank you!

Me and my husband stayed in the hotel for 1 week and it was the best holidays in my life. When we just made a step in a hotel everyone met us with soo big smile as they were waiting for me all day long, I really feel myself so special . What i was absolutely impressed with is the way a lady ( Anastasia) made check in for us. I have no idea from were all that kindness, smile and so special touch was coming from but she made me to fill as a Queen. She explained about every and each corner of the hotel!!! Every and each day we were coming with a lot of questions (as it was our first time in Dubai) to her and every time Anastasia gave us suggestion where to go and what to see. We also faced small problems in our room and again Anastasia was that one who helped us to solve it in next 15 min. looks like she was working there 24 hours and just for us. But unfortunately we didn't see her on our check out day as we were living early in the morning. I hope this review will reach her! We also wanted to thank all people who are working in such an amazing hotel- great service!!!! We are going to come back very sooon!!!! Read less

Starting from the modern car parking/valet area, the amazing lobby with modern décor, enjoyed walking around in the hotel enjoying the vibes of the place. Friendly and welcomed staff at the check in, room was upgraded to better view and higher floor, the room is big and beds are comfortable, very modern and clean rooms. The service is excellent; Staff always comes round the rooms and ask if we need water or towels. Hotel located in palm jumeirah, near to Atlantis and water park, far away from the city. The pools are amazing and kids pool is available close to kids club, to be honest pool beds not that comfy, cabanas has minimum spend even for hotel resident!! Highly recommended for short escapes and pool parties. Read less

From the U.K. and so wanted some winter sun in January 2020 Been to a Dubai a few times before and previously stayed at the one and only Royal mirage and the le royal Meridien which were both better Pros of the W The rooms are lovely and nice and large even the basic room and the balconies are lovely and large too. The lighting in the rooms have little touches like when you get out of bed in the night some little lights come on automatically etc so the rooms are really good The service is good too much like elsewhere in Dubai Cons - pretty much everything else when compared to other Dubai hotels. Don’t get me wrong it’s nice enough and nothing is terrible but it’s just not on par with the other hotels of a similar price We read the reviews and decided to come here but I’m afraid to say it’s a bit of a let down In reality The biggest con is (and I can’t quite believe this!) but there isn’t a swimming pool!!! Look closely at the pics online and you’ll see that the big swimming pool isn’t actually a pool it’s loads of tiny, tiny pools for each cabana etc. You can’t swim between them so there isn’t a pool. The swim up bar isn’t really that as there are no seats in the pool and that bit is in a place called The wet deck but it’s small and in the shade all the time. A hotel of this size needs something bigger than a paddling pool! Location wise there is nothing within walking distance so instead of staying on the palm I’d suggest travellers look towards staying on the mainland near JBR the walk. It is however peaceful on the palm Food wise the food is ok. Breakfast a bit cold and chipped cups are a bit of a let down but nice enough. There’s really only 2/3 restaurants for in the evening so if you’re coming for 7 nights that’s a bit of a let down. I’d argue there is only 2 (Akira Back and Sobe) as the other one is also a lunch place. In our first night we went to Akira Back which is meant to be their star restaurant. Food and service good enough, not amazing but good but the venue felt more like a Mexican all inclusive than a high end restaurant. We were on the half board package so the evening meal was included but what really wound me up was the drinks prices. At Akira Back we were handed the drinks menu and most bottles of wine were 500 AED or more which is over £100 a bottle. Don’t get me wrong we can afford it but I just felt it was just extortion and so almost just didn’t order a drink out of principle. The cheapest bottle of wine was 210 AED which is ok is but most drinks eye watering. It’s trying to be ‘cool’ but just doesn’t quite do it nor does it know what it wants to be. It’s strange sometimes because sometimes in say London or Vegas you are in a venue where you don’t mind spending a lot of money on champagne, whisky or a nice bottle of wine if the venue and surroundings feel right but in Akira Back it just didn’t feel good enough to spend that kind of money on wine. A pint of beer round the pool in the day is nearly £15 again I get drinks are expensive in Dubai but it just spoils it for me Overall it’s a nice hotel but not as good as the reviews suggest. If you’re looking for a party hotel then the Cosmopolitan in Vegas is better and if you’re going to Dubai I’d suggest the le Royal Meridien next door to the Ritz Carlton is noticeably better for location, food, restaurants and the beach etc. It’s strange as I wanted to like this and like the W in London and Barcelona but this one just fell flat a little Save your money on this one folks Read less
