over the past few years we’ve stayed at the AC Marriott, just a block farther down Wilshire from this hotel... for some reason we decided to try the Kimpton this stay and thoroughly enjoyed it, in spite of CoVid. I am very sad that I hadn’t done it sooner and it will most definitely be our go-to spot going forward since our son lives up at La Brea and Wilshire. this is a small boutique hotel with only five full guestroom floors and a very small reception area but the valet parking is much nicer and more efficient than the AC Marriott, the staff is lovely and eager to help and accommodate us especially with Covid… The pool was open and somebody was up there attending to the bar and food needs (unlike the AC Marriott in September)... The morning breakfast box, again because of Covid was very diverse with locks and bagel and cream cheese and yogurt and fruit on the yogurt and a piece of fresh fruit and a muffin and I forget what else and that took care of us just fine. When you ask for anything instead of a robot delivering it to your room as happens at the AC Marriott due to Covid, A human being brings it to you here. They have a nice little happy hour option again even though it’s Covid but no socialization on the second floor quiet space. We would definitely go back and even the general manager wrote me a lovely note in response to some things I asked for which couldn’t have been sweeter. Thank you all. Read less

We were there to celebrate a special occasion, and they upgraded us to a nicer room too! The food at the pool was amazing. The main problems were (First) the 4th floor smelled really strong of marijuana on the first night and it game me a headache because I had to walk all the way to the end of the hallway to get in and out of my room, then the next morning it smelled like Febreze trying to cover the smell of marijuana. (Second) there were leaves and scraps of napkin in the pool. The pool was beautiful, as long as I didn't look closely at the water. I think you can even see the paper in the picture... Read less

I love this hotel - I came here all the time for brunch and dinner over the years - great food and lovely staff. I write this review after staying as a guest of the hotel for 1 night as a staycation. Thought it would be nice to get out after the restrictions lifting in Los Angeles but in a safe way given the small intimate environment at this particular hotel. As a caveat, I recognize that many of my frustrations were likely because the staff has been overworked, stressed out and tired and it sucks. I feel so bad for the staff. I could feel the exhaustion after speaking to several. They need help and more support! 1. Check in was fine but once I got to my room (I stayed in a 1bd suite), I noticed the dining table was dirty. I called down to the front desk and they had someone come up and clean. 2. The restaurant closed at 8 and there’s no room service. To be fair, I should have noticed in the small print of a text that was sent to me that rooftop dining would end at 8 but I checked in at 5, asked about the rooftop and the front desk never mentioned once that they closed at 8. I got there at 8:08 and they wouldn’t accommodate. 3. The next morning, I tried to call the front desk re breakfast and have my free breakfast delivered to the room (no breakfast made before 11 which sucked - just breakfast boxes). I went downstairs because I couldn’t get anyone on the line and was told that they were out of breakfast boxes :-/ thankfully it was just a few minutes before 11 so they took my order for cooked breakfast but it took them 45 minutes to get the food to us so...yeah. Free breakfast was supposed to be included as part of my room rate but they were out of breakfast boxes and charged me for the cooked breakfast (the free breakfast was continental). It should have been free. 4. At 11 am there was no one on the rooftop to take food orders and the roof was still being cleaned and none of the chairs were up. It was like the hotel wasn’t even open. 5. They ran out of coffee. I mean come on. 6. The food was brought to us in to go boxes. I guess they aren’t serving food on plates. They also didn’t serve alcohol until The menu says otherwise. Guys, this sucked. 7. I have extended checkout as a rewards member and my key wouldnt work after 12. So I had to go back downstairs. 8. had a deal with my room - $10 parking. They charged me for two cars at $39 each. I called after I left to complain about the bill and being overcharged for parking and the sales woman acted like she was doing me a favor - it was wild, especially after the stay I had. This hotel is not ready to be back open for a staycation. Understaffed and staff is overworked. It was the weirdest experience and I won’t be back to stay. Read less

I personally love the special in-house cocktail and breakfast morning coffee. We feel very welcome and will definitely come back when COVID goes down a bit in West side of LA. Read less

We recently stayed at this hotel for approximately 10 days. We had a unique and special need that was accommodated beyond our wildest dreams. I can’t thank them enough for the TLC they showed us. I recommend them without hesitation.
