My first time travelling alone, to LA none the less. Felt completely lost and Maria at the front desk and Curtis literally could not have been any sweeter, more helpful or thoughtful if it wasn't for them I'd have been way more stressed and clueless! Felt at home right away. Not to mention the most glorious bath tub and cool rooftop bar helped too.

We are loyal Kimpton users and this hotel is honestly the worst we have ever stayed at, which pains me to stay because we typically love Kimpton hotels. When in Los Angeles, we typically stay at the Kimpton Everly in Hollywood, but decided to change it up since this one also advertised having many of the same amenities including a happy hour and rooftop pool. The rooftop pool actually belongs to the restaurant on the rooftop, not the Kimpton. Because there are restaurant tables completely surrounding the pool, it's extremely awkward for anyone to actually get in the pool because there are people eating all around you and no lounge chairs whatsoever. There were no people in the pool at all, and my significant other and 2 other couples who were behind us felt so uncomfortable even trying to get into the pool we all left. On top of that, even if we wanted to go in the pool, the restaurant told us they were packed with reservations. Granted, it was 4th of July, but it was also only 5:30pm and only TWO other parties were at the restaurant at the time, meaning, over 90% of the tables were open yet they said they were full. We ended up going back up there just to look a little later and there was STILL no one in the restaurant. I went downstairs to talk to the manager about how disappointed we were that we were advertised a rooftop pool that wasn't actually usable and were just dismissed with no resolution. If you're going to come to stay in Los Angeles with the desire of having a pool, DO NOT COME to this hotel. Read less

I have stayed in Kimpton hotels in Cali, Salt Lake City, Chicagoland and couple other cities I don't remember offhand. Loved them all...except Kimpton Hotel Wilshire. They should really think about taking the Kimpton part off this establishment. Shame on me...I didn't read reviews. I just saw Kimpton close to the concert venue and I booked. My bad. This tiny hotel has some great staff on the hotel side (thus the 2 stars). Most were pleasant and helpful but they could not cover for issues you normally don't have at "nice" hotels. The room was humid. Not like I'm going to sleep well humid. More like this has got to be causing some mold issues humid. There were stains on the carpeting, stains on the comforter and stains on the sheets. I kid you not. Even the room service menu was threadbare and worn. None of the attention to details you would normally expect. We had to call down for another set of sheets but since housekeeping was gone for the night, Security brought them and we remade the bed ourselves. They said they would compensate us somehow but never did. Roof top bar and restaurant served "just ok" food with poor service and amazing views. But nonetheless, I kept my happy face on up to the point my Fiancé got stuck in the elevator. When she finally did get out, she was faced with the choice of going up 6 flights of stairs to rejoin me or wait until they fixed it. Not a good look. Read less
