The hotel

Hotel Zephyr offers 355 guests rooms in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf and this supremely comfortable hotel is within walking distance of many San Francisco attractions, including Chinatown, PIER 39, Cable Cars and Ghirardelli Square. There's also a fitness centre to keep the body beautiful, open 24-hours so there's no excuse not to at least check out the facility. There is no restaurant on-site, but worry not, there are plenty in the immediate vicinity. Stroll along the wharf, sipping clam chowder from a bread bowl or perhaps head to Chinatown for some delicious Dim Sum. Like the dining options, the shopping opportunities are endless with something for everyone of every age. Infamous Alcatraz Island is well-worth a visit as is Ghirardelli Square with its famous chocolate factory. When you're done sightseeing for the day, your hotel room offers a welcome oasis from a city that seemingly never sleeps!

Great location. Close to attractions. Able to walk to most things we wanted to see and do. Great game room for kids. The fire pits were a nice way to end the evening. Rooms were fairly large, with comfortable beds.

The right location to go around San Francisco. Near the wharf, hop-on hop-off tours, tram terminal and restaurants. Although we were caught in the middle of changing room number system that caused a stranger to enter our room.

It is a great location for the heart of the wharf and affordable in price. The rooms are comfortable, nicely appointed, and further the overarching theme of the "fun" hotel with magnetic dart boards. It's a perfect spot to stay by the bay. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Prepare to pay an extra $25 a day for their "complimentary" services. Other hotels in SF area do not charge this.

They charge an "urban fee", which is $25 a day for their "complimentary" services. Complimentary services usually means given to a customer WITHOUT charge, but not at Hotel Zephyr. You get to talk to a concierge (when they are there), a newspaper, and K-cups in your room, along with use of their game room and gym. Oh, and they will give you 10%… Read more
They charge an "urban fee", which is $25 a day for their "complimentary" services. Complimentary services usually means given to a customer WITHOUT charge, but not at Hotel Zephyr. You get to talk to a concierge (when they are there), a newspaper, and K-cups in your room, along with use of their game room and gym. Oh, and they will give you 10% off at their overpriced camper or restaurant with very limited selections. We elected to skip a day of cleaning for the environment, and when I asked for my "complimentary" bottle of cheap off brand water that I already paid $25 for, they told me I would have to pay $2 more, or I could go to the 7-11 and buy my own. WOW! One morning there was a fire alarm and we worked our way down the back stairs to the outside. We were not met by any staff with instructions or any indication if false or real, and when the alarm went off and we went back to our room, the cleaning people were entering the room. Why did they not evacuate? What a joke. There is not enough front desk people, so plan to wait, and if you have a simple question, you will have to wait in line with all the people checking in and out. The concierge can't help you. If you call, you will be put on hold forever... not sure if they pick up because I hung up after 12 minutes of my cell time. The room was clean, but small, noisy and dated, and our shower curtain rod was barely attached causing the shower curtain to let roll to the center. The only thing going for it is its décor and location. Stay away unless you want to pay way more than what you get in return... there are a lot of other hotels to choose from that know what complimentary means and seem to actually want you to stay there and return again some day. I will not return to the Hotel Zephyr. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great location for fisherman’s wharf

Feb 11, 2019 steveng_1313Aud Brisbane, Australia

Stayed a few nights at Hotel Zephyr. Heat location to fisherman’s wharf and all that has to offer. On block back from the water front made an ideal for exploring around the coast. Rooms are little noisy as we could hear other rooms around coming and going. Hotel neat and clean with a nice games area next to the lobby.
