Hotel Zephyr

Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco

The hotel

Hotel Zephyr offers 355 guests rooms in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf and this supremely comfortable hotel is within walking distance of many San Francisco attractions, including Chinatown, PIER 39, Cable Cars and Ghirardelli Square. There's also a fitness centre to keep the body beautiful, open 24-hours so there's no excuse not to at least check out the facility. There is no restaurant on-site, but worry not, there are plenty in the immediate vicinity. Stroll along the wharf, sipping clam chowder from a bread bowl or perhaps head to Chinatown for some delicious Dim Sum. Like the dining options, the shopping opportunities are endless with something for everyone of every age. Infamous Alcatraz Island is well-worth a visit as is Ghirardelli Square with its famous chocolate factory. When you're done sightseeing for the day, your hotel room offers a welcome oasis from a city that seemingly never sleeps!

I wouldn't stay here again, especially for the high cost. In a nutshell, this hotel is actually a motel that looks pretty in pictures. I assumed there was a massive renovation based on the trendy pics and overall decor but once inside the rooms/ halls, realize they literally just updated the paint and decor to look good in pictures. I'll just list top 5 reasons to not stay here, especially with little kids: 5. AC is right next to the bed and blasts in your face. It also doesn't cool down the room enough when the sun is out so the room gets pretty hot. 4. Parking is $58/night + $8 tax. Almost $65 a night! Rip off. 3. Related to #1, room smelled like old smoke and just old rags. 2. Smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in. 1. Dirty. Outside of changed sheets, everything about the hotel room gave me the creeps. Toilet wasn't thoroughly cleaned. Shower curtain smelled of rags. Any cleaning consists of changing sheets and towels. There was dust and stains in the bathroom which is indicative of the overall hotel. I stayed in a room close to the garbage room and any time I passed, got a whiff of trash. Area to, near parking lot has never been cleaned. Read less

Place charges an "amenities fee" of $25 plus adds a bunch of other "taxes". At check out I showed them my reservation booking through Price Line stating taxes and service fees were included and they told me Price Line was… Read more

Well we phoned the hotel 5 times with lots of questions due to this being our first time in the states and I must say Jackie the operator was just great never transferred our calls to other departments and gave lots of information and answered all of our questions, cares and concerns. She also followed up with airport transportation since the concierge was busy every time we phoned. I just hope all the staff there are as friendly and helpful. Cant wait for our trip and hope we get to meet Jackie just so we can thank her for all of her help and patience. Read less

A great location for a hotel, literally only a few feet from the bay. The hotel decor is a little off beat and interesting. But it does seem a little run down with peeling paint dirty bathroom walls. The hotel staff; concierge, cleaners and housekeeping were friendly and fun. But the reception desk staff were all cranky, almost rude. During our… Read more

During our three night stay we talked to three people who worked reception and none seemed happy or to enjoy their job. Overall an OK hotel, but a little overpriced. Read less
