Hotel Zephyr

Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco

The hotel

Hotel Zephyr offers 355 guests rooms in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf and this supremely comfortable hotel is within walking distance of many San Francisco attractions, including Chinatown, PIER 39, Cable Cars and Ghirardelli Square. There's also a fitness centre to keep the body beautiful, open 24-hours so there's no excuse not to at least check out the facility. There is no restaurant on-site, but worry not, there are plenty in the immediate vicinity. Stroll along the wharf, sipping clam chowder from a bread bowl or perhaps head to Chinatown for some delicious Dim Sum. Like the dining options, the shopping opportunities are endless with something for everyone of every age. Infamous Alcatraz Island is well-worth a visit as is Ghirardelli Square with its famous chocolate factory. When you're done sightseeing for the day, your hotel room offers a welcome oasis from a city that seemingly never sleeps!

I decided to wait two weeks before I submitted my review as I asked the Hotel to contact me several times and they didn't. Oh well. Upon checkout I was assessed a $25 resort fee that I am disputing and am expecting a refund. During check in, I was never told about the fee and the benefits of such fee (2 for 1 drinks, discount to tours etc.). Had I known, I would most certainly have taken advantage, but given the check in process, I was left to essentially fend for myself. When I checked out the woman checking me out showed no empathy or concern for my dispute and when I asked for a manager she said none was on duty so I asked for a call back. I liked your hotel, and I liked the location and would like to stay again, but I will not stay or recommend the hotel unless I get this $25 fee refunded. I know it's not much, but this is a customer service issue now and considering the poor check in process, I deserve this refund. I'm big on reviews so I plan to share this experience unless I get a response and a refund. Thank you. As highlighted above, my checkout experience was poor. Your front desk clerk told me that my resort fee was highlighted when I booked online and she was right, however, the booking did not mention what was included in the resort fee. Had someone told me, I would have put that resort fee to use. Again, she was on the front lines of customer service and could easily have made this right and she didn't. Instead she hid behind a flimsy online mention and then told me that she couldn't speak to my check in experience but I should have known what was included in the resort fee. Please refund my money and do a better job with check in and check out. You're a hotel on Fisherman's Wharf, this wasn't and won't be the last time to have large crowds checking in at once. See above. SF has plenty of other similar hotels that I'm sure would be happy to have me and offer better customer service. Read less

Wow - took one hour to check in and then way overpriced. Check in at desk took 10 min just for us. Supposed to be the tech capital of the world and they were having technical difficulties — really. That was a bad start. Then they wouldn’t even acknowledge you as a person but asked for your Id and credit card but not your name. Didn’t happen… Read more

Stay somewhere cheaper and drive here 😉 Read less

Do not stay here. Let me rephrase that, if you are an adult with 3 bratty children or like to throw money in the trash then yes, stay here. Dirty, broken, nasty, noisy, uncomfortable, disgusting. It's close to the warf and that is what you pay for. Seriously no idea how this place gets any other stars than one. Trashiest hotel, it's a motel. For… Read more

It's close to the warf and that is what you pay for. Seriously no idea how this place gets any other stars than one. Trashiest hotel, it's a motel. For the amount you pay and then what you pay on top of the regular room fee is ridiculous. I knew about all the extra fees before we got here so I wasnt surprised and honestly it's a city, they gouge you. It's the state of this god forsaken place that infuriates me. For over 700$ for two nights (including all the extra fees) it should be so much more than a run down, broken and nasty motel. Go to the holiday inn up the road, dont make my mistake and ruin your vacation and pocketbook on this terrible establishment. Read less
