Hotel Zephyr

Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco

The hotel

After a multi million dollar renovation, the Zephyr has been transformed into a modern, quirky hotel with a nautical theme and laidback vibe. In the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf, you can walk to PIER 39 and Ghirardelli Square (did someone say chocolate?) or jump on a cable car to explore further. Hidden at the back of the hotel is Fire & Brew, a casual restaurant with a sociable atmosphere. There are lots of dining options close by too — grab a clam chowder bread bowl or head to Chinatown for delicious dim sum. When you're done sightseeing for the day, your hotel room offers a welcome oasis from a city that seemingly never sleeps!

I and my wife stayed here for a few days whilst visiting San Francisco. The hotel itself is clean and well located from Fisherman’s Wharf. Staff are friendly enough and are communicative via email in the event of questions. Nearly all California hotels have a hidden 'service' fee but this hotel it was totally worth it. There is tons to do downstairs in the lobby. We played games and roasted marshmallows. Just hung out with grandparents who were in the hotel across the road but preferred to hang out here. Altogether lovely experience. It seems pricier then neighbouring hotels but with the hidden costs at other hotels u will end up paying about the same and this one is worth it. We had a great time. Thank you!! Read less

We are regular world travelers. We know our hotels and are pretty tolerant. This hotel however feels like a total scam. It’s been “updated” with wallpaper and paint but still manages to feel like an aging 70s beach motel. The noise from the pier and the traffic is super loud even with the balcony doors shut. The doors are original so sound dampening is nonexistent. We paid over $400 for a king room with bay view balcony. Well it’s actually just a parking lot view with the bay in the distance. And if you sit down you won’t be able to see anything because the railings are so high. The railings are also dirty as are the doorways in the room - dirty fingerprints. The bathroom is tiny and outdated, the pillows are cheap, the hallways are long and dark. The only nice thing is the staff - very friendly. We just checked in and are trying to find another hotel. The hotel is very well positioned to walk to all the attractions around San Francisco. They do give you water and a smores kit which is a nice touch I'm afraid that's the only positives we can really give. - We were upgraded to a Bay View Room but this was after our third attempt at asking (This was our final stop on our honeymoon so wanted to end on a high). Most people on the desk we found were quite dismissive - Bay View Room view is nice, the room does feels dated and old, and bathroom is very small. We asked for a kettle for the room for a hot drink and there are no kettles- Something we found strange - Parking is hugely expensive, luckily we dropped our car early so didnt need but 58 dollars a night is steep. Look locally for other cheaper options We personally would not recommend this hotel Read less

We were greeted very nicely and given 2 cans of sparkling wine, some water bottles, coupons and a S'Mores kit. The room was clean and comfortable. The front staff and concierge were also extremely nice and helpful. There are no food/coffee amenities on site. There is a Keurig in the room, but that is all. I do wish they had some sort of "snack" bar for purchase or even some coffee outside of the the room coffee. It is very conveniently located and we were able to walk to mostly all tourist sites from this location. All in all, it was a good experience! It is expensive (as is all of California), but was fun and will definitely stay there again if we ever end up in SF again. Read less
