Omni San Francisco Hotel

San Francisco, USA

The hotel

Enjoy a boutique atmosphere at the Omni, thanks to its Florentine Renaissance architecture. Built as a bank in 1926, the hotel is suitably grand, with Italian marble and Austrian crystal chandeliers in the lobby. A great way to orientate yourself with the city is to join the free Saturday morning walking tour — find out about its history, architecture, legends and more. Happily, you don’t need a guide to find your way to Bob’s Steak & Chop House, which serves up some of the best steaks in town. Bob’s Bar is also popular; check out the monthly cocktail special, created using only local ingredients.

I love this hotel. Not only is it stunningly beautiful, the staff are incredible. They always make our stay seamless. No problems, always available to help and star personnel! One person in particular, Philip, stands out this time. He was so helpful and thoughtful. We are celebrating our anniversary and he went all out. Thank you so much… Read more

Stayed there a couple nights over NYE after a long flight from Europe. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great food and drinks in the restaurant. Check out their gingerbread house!

The lobby is a great place to receive your San Francisco friends and have a drink before trotting over to the Tadich Grill or some other great restaurant in the financial district. I blew into town rather late in the evening and dragging myself off A 16 hour flight so I was delighted to be informed that the Omni’s chef is known for a delicious burger as well as other comfort food for the road weary traveler. That was not an over statement and it tasted like mana from heaven! Read less

The Omni marked our final hotel stay for a RTW trip that we took in December. We chose this hotel, based on previous experiences here, and enjoyed our three nights except for some drawbacks to our room. Staff, from the cheery, helpful doorman to Housekeeping were all topnotch. Every employee with whom we interacted proved to be upbeat, friendly and happy to provide assistance. The hotel's elegant lobby beckoned with lovely seating areas and a huge, gorgeous gingerbread house that was on display for the holidays. Complimentary hot cider and gingerbread men waited to be consumed. We loved the location on California Street in the Financial District with cable cars clanking by but requested and received a room in a more quiet location. Plenty of restaurants stood in the area and it was a short walk to the Ferry Building. Chinatown, North Beach and Union Square were also fairly close-by. Our nice-sized deluxe room on the 14th floor proved to be immaculate with a most comfortable bed. It featured 1920s decor, plenty of storage space and a flat-screen TV. Though plush robes waited in the closet, there were no slippers. I missed having a grab bar in the bathtub and could not use the safe, which sat on the closet's high ledge. I had to rely on my taller husband, which was sometimes quite inconvenient. There was a problem with our door lock and though an engineer came to look at it, we had to be extremely careful to ensure that the door locked when we left the room. The WiFi was unreliable and I got thrown off the Internet constantly, which was most annoying. These drawbacks would not keep me from returning but they prevent me from giving Omni a 5-bubble rating. Image of the Tripadvisor rating Lovely hotel. Valet parking a bit expensive.

Lovely room, location, staff and room. Valet parking a bit expensive at $65, but worth it when time is of the essence getting in and out of the hotel. Staff was super friendly, Christmas decorations were fabulous.
