Forget Paris and Milan, hitting the slopes in stylish ski wear is where it is at...
Or for those new to ski, get up to date and become a layering pro. Find out more with Virgin Holidays and our hot tips and recommendations!
For those who are new to ski, getting up to speed with layering techniques is a must. There are three key layers to know: wicking, insulating and protection. Start with the wicking layer, which should be made of synthetic material so it can "wick" moisture away from the skin. Insulate with wool or fleece, and protect with a super waterproof material. Lastly, don't forget key items such as gloves, goggles, sunglasses, head-gear, and neck gators.
Bring a bit of fun to your ski wardrobe with some fun and colourful fashion trends. From colour-blocking with a bright splash of colour to choosing a stylish pattern to mix into your outfit, you can be rocking the slopes in no time.
For those wanting to up-the-ante, look for outfits with some luxe trims and accents. If cool and classic is your thing, we recommend solid colours such as black, navy, and forest green.
Sunburn, chapped lips, and broken bones. No thanks! These could all be avoided with some quick and easy protection items. Apply sunscreen and carry lip moisturiser in your pocket to help counteract the effects of dry air and wind. Protect your eyes with goggles or glasses and wear a helmet and wrist guards to help avoid injuries on the slopes.
There are tons of ski apps available these days that can help you with just about anything. Some of our favourite ones include: Ski Tracks for daily performance measurment; Instagram for pictures, videos, and ski inspiration; RealSki 2.1 for in-resort locations and runs using augmented reality; and Ski Club of Great Britain for the latest resort conditions, snowfalls, and news. Plus, look out for resort apps - Mammoth and Park City are just a couple available.
Capture the stories, memories and moments with some great photo gadgets. GoPro cameras are synonymous with video action on the slopes. The HERO4 is the latest edition with wi-fi capabilities and can be strapped to your helmet or chest.
For those after a point and shoot, the Nikon Coolpix AW130 is ready for ski action with shockproof, waterproof and freezeproof features. For those wanting to use their iPhone like a digital camera, the Belkin Live Action Camera Grip is a great little device to have on hand.

Payments are being prioritised based on when the request was made, working in order from March 2020 onwards. We will always try to process refunds at the earliest opportunity, for requests before August our maximum timeframe is 120 days. As we are steadily reducing the maximum processing time for each new request, for refund requests made in August, we expect the maximum processing time to be 80 days, from the date the refund is requested. For those requesting a refund in September, we expect it to be processed within a maximum of 60 days, and then reduce to 30 days for refunds requested in October, before returning to normal levels.
To finalise the amendment, one of our customer advisors will phone you. We need to work through amend requests in departure date order so we can prioritise those with the most imminent travel plans, so you may have a longer wait than usual until we’re able to ring you back. We will help everyone that wants to move their holiday.
You can contact our team by emailing feedback.backhome@virginholidays.com to discuss options on unused portions of your holiday. If you need to contact our team about amending an existing holiday or requesting a refund please log in to manage my booking.
