Banff Aspen Lodge

Banff, Alberta

Virgin rating

The hotel

They may call themselves a ‘base camp’, but that’s definitely only in spirit — not in style. Thanks to its location, Banff Aspen Lodge is favoured by those wanting to pitch up and experience all the attractions of this popular ski and spa town, from its snow sports to its famous hot springs. But its style is far from ‘base camp’. Smart and swanky, its rustic-meets-chic décor is matched by a series of extra touches that make an ‘outdoorsy’ holiday uncharacteristically comfortable, like complimentary WiFi, ski and bike storage, the coffee and cake-stocked Whitebark Café, and a steam room and sauna for soothing adventure-weary muscles. You can start your day filling up at the breakfast buffet, with its local bacon and sausages and home-baked treats. And you can end it in an outdoor hot tub with a crackling fireplace.

Quiet, comfortable room with very comfy bed. Helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast is buffet and very good. Ski bus stop at the hotel next door, and ski storage in reception (you can rent a padlock). Bars and restaurants a couple of blocks away. Would I go back? Yes!

This boutique motel is totally awesome. Great amenities, fantastic price, super room layouts for a family of four and one block from the strip. Also, out of eight different hotels in two weeks (an epic saga along the powder highway), these beds were the most comfortable by far!

Hotel was pleasantly nice. Nice atmosphere. Hotel stuff very friendly and helpful. Hottub was great after a day of snowboarding. Quiet hotel. Had a patio off the room which was a nice addition. Would recommend!
