Banff Aspen Lodge

Banff, Alberta

The hotel

They may call themselves a ‘base camp’, but that’s definitely only in spirit — not in style. Thanks to its location, Banff Aspen Lodge is favoured by those wanting to pitch up and experience all the attractions of this popular ski and spa town, from its snow sports to its famous hot springs. But its style is far from ‘base camp’. Smart and swanky, its rustic-meets-chic décor is matched by a series of extra touches that make an ‘outdoorsy’ holiday uncharacteristically comfortable, like complimentary WiFi, ski and bike storage, the coffee and cake-stocked Whitebark Café, and a steam room and sauna for soothing adventure-weary muscles. You can start your day filling up at the complimentary breakfast buffet, with its local bacon and sausages and home-baked treats. And you can end it in an outdoor hot tub with a crackling fireplace.

Stayed in Banff for one night. A day before our visit I noticed a way cheaper rate(120 a night cheaper) online for a better quality room. I called the hotel and talk about service, even though I had a non cancelable room they totally honoured the new price and room upgrade. When we arrived the lady even recognized m by name and I told her how impressed I was. The lodge is very modern. She even upgraded us to a better king size premium room. Room was very nice and modern. Very large with a nice balcony looking out to Banff avenue. The bed was very firm( which I personally like). The hotel offers free parking and free breakfast. They have 2 hot tubs outside in the middle of the courtyard. We went for a 30 min soak. Very hot and nice. The tub we were in even had a fireplace. Only negative the tub had a lot of sand in it. Definitively needs some attention. Breakfast was a buffet with the standards eggs, bacon, yogurt and fresh baked goods. Nothing luxurious but certainly nice to hold you over to lunch. Location is right in Banff village and you can walk anywhere from there. Due to the amazing staff and location I would most definitely stay again and recommend to anyone looking at this property. They even have a nice coffee shop in the lobby. ( got coffee lovers) Read less

Loved the hotel. Ended up staying twice. Big modern rooms, comfortable bed. Large television with lots of channels. Room has a fridge and Nespresso coffee machine. Breakfast was superb, they make their own muffins and oatmeal. Different flavours every day. Staff everywhere just first class.

Ruin our wedding anniversary celebration. I booked a suite room with 1king and 2 single because my kids are coming with us. Room says 4people but when I checked in fd told me that I will be charged for 2 extra person/ night. It doesnt make sense to me that I already paid for a room with high room rate than standard room with 3 beds for 4 persons and I have to pay additional at c/in. If I only knew that is hotel policy i will just booked a standard room and just pay extra for my kids which is cheaper. I was trying to explain it to the desk person but her only answer to me is "its hotels policy"! What kind of costumer service is that? When I c/in to the room theres left over drink in the fridge and god knows how its been there so we decided not to use it. Room was extremely hot! Bed sheets not even fit the mattress and curtain is not closing, lights from outside is pissing me off. Read less

the rooms are clean. however, going to my room, i have to traverse an open corridor, which is very nice and overlooking the pool, but caught me by surprise as it was cold and i was not dressed for it. the staff are honest, helpful and friendly. breakfast is good. very accessible to public transportation.
