My only regret about this hotel is not having done it with my kids when they were younger. The Christmas festivities and decor on offer is the best. It is quite literally magical. Regardless, it still swept us all up. The decor whilst a little old in style was well kept and the Suite was quite spacious for a family of 4. We ate in all the… Read more

Regardless, it still swept us all up. The decor whilst a little old in style was well kept and the Suite was quite spacious for a family of 4. We ate in all the outlets, loved the Swiss restaurant, loved the cafe off the lobby and enjoyed very much the Christmas and New Years Eve special banquets. We also enjoyed the hot springs pool out in the snow, so civilized to have it attached to the indoor pool area. Read less

The hotel is a jewel in the middle of the forest. Historic landmark. Service is excellent including the car valet service , checkin staff, concierge, and housekeeping. Concierge suggested going to surprise corner for photos of the hotel which if u stay at the hotel is a must do. Sunday brunch buffet was very tasty with beautiful Mountain View’s through the windows. Enjoyed the heated outdoor pool which was heated to 95 to 100 degrees F , basically largest outdoor hot tub in the world. Downtown Banff with shopping and restaurants is short drive away or long walk but walking in Jan not possible. Saw snow sculptures for weekend event. Skiing at sunshine ski resort 20 to 25 min away. Easy, flat , straight drive. Mt Norquay even closer and while Norquay is smaller the views from the top are sublime. I highly recommend what I did with an afternoon of sunny but cold afternoon skiing. If u get down blacks then go out to the lift closest to highway 1 for great views. The hotel did have a water pipe leak because of an arctic blast. They moved us to another room emergently - two single rooms in place of our larger suite. And moved us again back to our original suite style room but on higher floor with Mountain View. This was done as well as can be expected under unexpected flooding conditions and the staff at the front desk did all they could and did compensate us with credits for our lost precious vacation time due to moving twice. Take pics from the terrace on the back of hotel of bow valley and take pics from surprise corner of hotel. Xmas card worthy photos. Enjoy the indoor and outdoor pool. Will definitely come again. Keurig coffee capsules in the room. Nesprrsso seems more fitting for what otherwise is an outstanding hotel. Highest rec. Read less

My husband had a conference at the Banff Springs hotel and we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff are very friendly and considerate and prompt to respond to any request. Our window offered a fantastic vista of the Rockies. The room was spacious and had all the details we could need. We enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi, and soaking in the hot pool outside in the winter among the mountains is quite idyllic! I took the opportunity to join in on the guided snowshoeing activity offered by the hotel and loved every minute of it. Harry was our guide and he shared interesting information, kept us moving at a good pace for the group and was rather entertaining. He even provided a hot chocolate break along the way! The conference facilities were terrific and the food was excellent and served by very lovely and attentive staff members. When I mentioned my dietary limitations at the banquet they had no problem with bringing food that I could eat and thoroughly enjoyed. We noticed the drain in our tub was slow and within minutes of my husband offhandedly mentioning it to a staff member in the hallway, the repairman was in our room and had it fixed no problem! Overall we truly enjoyed everything about our stay and indeed felt like royalty in the Castle in the Rockies. Read less

As expected hotel Fairmont was beautiful! Not only the property was picturesque, hotel staffs were super friendly and helpful. Free Shuttle services to the Banff downtown and to the ski slopes were convenient. We felt the hotel accommodations were exclusive. We were lucky to have snow in December in Banff as It was snow wonderland!
