The price has gone up substantially, the food quality and variety has gone down, and the service was terrible. No one at the carving station and no one collected our plates when we went up to the buffet for more food. We had to move them over to the side. For the crab legs, there were no crackers or seafood forks at the buffet nor did our server offer any. Our server didn't even bring us waters. We'll not be going for brunch there again. The food and service at Rundle Lounge was good, thankfully. The hotel and amenities are still top notch. Read less

My daughter and I escape to Banff once in a while and have stayed at a few different places. The Banff Springs is our favourite. It's an easy walk to town, but there's so much to do and see in the hotel, you don't even have to leave if it's too cold out. We had a very sweet welcome on the Gold floor. It's a splurge, but worth it given the food and lounge. My only suggestion is to have a few more food options for kids who want simple fare. All staff is very friendly, and the welcome bundle and note prepared by housekeeping just blew me away. Very nice touch! The room was very spacious and relaxing. This stay was very hard to leave. Overall a great Saturday night getaway to Banff, this is a landmark property full of character and history. We took a nice walk along the trails, enjoyed very reasonably priced happy hour drinks and snacks at The Vermillion Room, and soaked in the amazing outdoor hot pools - a truly magical experience. Room service was pricey but the staff very kindly comped us some extra ice cream which was a very nice touch. The Vermillion Sunday Brunch is also pricey, but outstanding service, quality and selections. My main suggestions for improvement would be that the rooms do need an upgrade, in particular adding in better technology tools like a smart tv, or a universal USB plug block for ease of charging devices would make a lot of sense especially given the international guests this property draws. Additionally, we really wanted to take advantage of the tobogganing, but we didn't get a response as to the times or locations despite requesting this info during check in process. However we still kept ourselves busy with the hot pools, walks, and even a fun exploration of the main castle building. Walking through the maze of corridors on the eighth floor afforded amazing views from the turret windows out to the mountains and was fun to explore this very unique property. Overall would definitely recommend for a great getaway. Read less

We recently stayed at the Banff Springs. This was the 4th year in a row we have driven out for a couples weekend and my birthday celebration. We were "upgraded" to a delux (?) Fairmont room. Unfortunately the room was poorly laid out, the bathroom was small, there was not even enough counter space for a shaving kit and toothbrushes. We ended up on a noisy hallway, with doors slamming every 5 -10 minutes through the days. I am unsure if this was housekeeping coming and going from rooms or guests coming and going. We were disappointed to learn that the Hotel was only lightly booked that weekend, leaving us to wonder why they would stack us into a busy corridor. We have, in the past, enjoyed using our upgrade certificates to access suites and upgraded rooms, this was the first year we did not have this made available. The complimentary drink does not provide the same level of experience as upgrading to a nicer room. We were not asked by the staff at the front desk how our stay was, I did not get the sense that staff have nearly the same level of attention to detail as they have in previous years. I'm not sure we will consider Fairmont Banff Springs for a 5th trip or if we will look for another special experience in the Canadian Rockies. This is disappointing as we have been loyal to Fairmont due to the previous high quality of service. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Good hotel . Staff need to care more

Hotel is beautiful. Staff are not that caring for the customers. Slipped on the ice very bad that should have had salt and gravel right beside a staff member and no help was given . Also had a huge spit like substance in my drink at the rundle lounge. Other then that the hotel is beautiful and rooms are fantastic.
