Quite tight for us but was generally fine and well equipped. The decor is a little bit dated. The location is fantastic. Walking distance (10 mins) into the centre of Banff, a shuttle bus stop directly outside (the hotel supplies a pass for this) and cR parking right outside the rooms so really easy and convenient. The hotel staff are really helpful and knowledgeable. They booked tickets for things for us and advised on timings. Breakfast is included and is very good. Would definitely recommend. Read less

I am not sure if this review was affected by the fact that we had just stayed in a really good hotel in Calgary and our expectations were set too high but we found the whole Fox hotel experience disappointing. The hotel itself is nearing the end of the main drag as you come into Banff. The structure , like many in Banff is heavy on the wood decor and in places was looking a bit tired. That said they were in the process of decorating so that may well have improved. There seemed to be only one lift and if the hotel was busy then you could have a bit of a wait for a lift. Worth noting if you are unable to take the stairs. The rooms themselves were decent enough although basic and in need of some TLC. It does have aircon though. The staff were warm and friendly , like most Canadians we met on our trip. The breakfast was complimentary and more than adequate although be prepared to do battle with others for the waffle makers. The one evening meal we ate in the restaurant was substantial and filling. As mentioned the location meant a reasonable walk into the main shopping area although there is a bus you can catch and the hotel will give you free tickets to travel on it during your stay. Image of the Tripadvisor rating Rustic Banff hotel unsuitable for people with limited mobility

The hotel was cute and rustic carrying the fox theme throughout. I did not consider Chillis to be a suitable hotel restaurant and never ate there. My big isssue was the number of flights of stairs we had to take to get anywhere. The elevator was no help. This was compounded by having a room on two floors. I am disabled and use a stick so this was all very difficult for me. I asked the hotel staff if we could be moved to a single level room but this was not available. On the positive side our room had a kitchenette with fridge. The hot tub area was very attractive but the water was far too hot for me. Read less

The Fox is not cheap - but then pretty much nowhere in Banff is. The restaurant is a Chili's franchise. I didn't eat there. There is a central courtyard with timber staircases. There is an elevator and SOME of the rooms are probably on the same level that the elevator comes out on. But some are NOT. Our room was around the side of the building,… Read more

There is an elevator and SOME of the rooms are probably on the same level that the elevator comes out on. But some are NOT. Our room was around the side of the building, with wooden steps going up to the door. My friend walks with a stick, and had difficulty with these steps. I had to carry our suitcases up them. We'd both packed light, but even so, trying to get up the steps with a big case was not easy. If you're over 60, or have physical disabilities it would be a problem. The suite was on 2 levels. Upstairs, a small kitchen/dining area and a seating area, downstairs was the bed room The stairs inside the suite were narrow and curved and I had trouble negotiating them with a large case. The decor was a little scuffed but it was generally clean and presentable and everything worked. The main attraction of the hotel is its hot tub/pool in the basement - which is based around a natural hot spring. It's very beautiful, although I did find the water a little too hot. At one end of the hot pool the ceiling is open (up to the courtyard), so you could even sit in there at night and look up at the stars. The location is on the main street, about a 10 minute walk to the downtown area. There is also a local bus service that stops at the hotel.I didn't have a car, so I can't comment on parking facilities. Read less

We had 3 days in Banff before our trip on the Rocky Mountaineer. Fox Inn was a great place to stay. Comfortable room with amazing views of the Rocky Mountains. Buffet breakfast was really good and set us up for the busy days we had. Used the natural heated pool - just what was needed after a hectic day sight seeing. Jack on Reception was so very helpful as we finally arrived after 10pm following our flight into Calgary and transfer to Banff. His help was very much appreciated and his knowledge of Banff was extremely useful. Would recommend this Hotel Read less
