I will first start this off by saying my family has always wanted to stay at the fox because of the beautiful spa facilities and the location. However I was under the impression the jacuzzi would be open and it was not. I will try to recount the details in chronological order so as to provide an extensive account of our stay here, and how it very rapidly went downhill. When we arrived we were given two “queen” rooms that we had requested, but upon entering the rooms the beds were a twin at best and topped with only one substantial pillow that wasn’t at all comfortable to sleep on. The rooms are small but standard yet there is no tea or coffee in the rooms, no iron or ironing board (you will have to ask for these) and the wallpaper is peeling off the walls in the bathroom. Furthermore, there is no air conditioning in the rooms and the windows don’t open so you have no ability to get fresh air when the room is 100 degrees. Last thing about the rooms is that the blinds don’t properly shut so there is about a 2 inch gap at the bottom where light shines through. Subsequently, we complained because we felt that we were being overcharged for what we had received. We were met with rudeness and told to cancel our reservation and move hotels or, pay even more money and upgrade. I have never had that said to me in my life and so we searched for other hotels in the area but by that time it was 6pm and nothing was available. The last thing that was just rather annoying was the breakfast. Breakfast is in the restaurant in the hotel which is open at night and packed with people. Given that, you would think breakfast wouldn’t be a “grab and go” mediocre sandwich but we were sadly mistaken. Overall I would not at all recommend staying in this hotel, for the quality of the rooms and the location pay and extra $50 and stay somewhere else. Read less

We spent two nights here and overall enjoyed our stay. While there is an elevator from the parking level to the various floors, if you have an outside facing room that does not really help. We found two sets of stairs needed to be climbed to get anything in and out of the room. It's only an issue because we have a large stroller for two toddlers. The room is also on two levels and there is no effective way to keep small kids from climbing up and down. This was a surprise to us upon arrival and were told there were no single floor rooms we could switch two. Beds were comfortable and with two levels comes two TVs which allows for kids and adults to have separate viewing when needed. Due to COVID the pool/spa was closed which was another big blow for us. We'd been looking forward to using their unique pool assuming they had a way to manage distancing issues. Since it was closed during our stay I assume there is not practical way to open it and remain safe. Cleaning staff also do not enter your room while you are there which again makes sense but we had to figure that out on our own. We'll probably try The Fox again some day when things are more back to normal. Read less

We have been to Banff for our ski trip 21 times now, but this was our first stay at The Fox. The room was very clean and quiet and the front desk service was helpful and friendly. We were given free continental breakfast at the connected Chili's restaurant everyday during our stay which was fine and very convenient. Cons: Room was extremely small, and there is only one elevator for the hotel which is often filled with laundry and cleaning carts. (Fox Hotel designers really goofed on that one...there should have been a separate, "behind the scenes" elevator for housekeeping staff and carts!!). Also, the pillows on the bed were so full that I woke up with a kink in my neck the first night; the staff did bring me a slimmer, softer, pillow though which was much better. When I asked at the front desk about the pillows, the employee told me that she had heard the pillow complaints before from others. The hotel is located quite a bit of a ways from the center of Banff, but we are walkers and didn't mind the long walk every evening, even in the very chilly weather. Overall, we would stay here again for sure, but maybe upgrade to one of their suites. Read less
