I have stayed at many Fairmonts and this one definitely lived up to the hype I have been giving this hotel chain. Read less

Both nights had huge lobby parties that spilled over into the lounge. Apparently no reserved tables for hotel guests. Couldn’t use parts of my own hotel essentially, or the two free welcome drinks from being a club member. Nice free perk that’s impossible to use. Room had a bed though which was nice. As a side note the valet experience is also off-putting with most cars double-parked on a busy street and staff often hard to find. Drive the extra hour to Banff if u want to stay in a real Fairmont. My wife and I took a weekend away from the kids and decided to stay at the Fairmont Palliser downtown Calgary. What a great decision that was! Their staff are very friendly, helpful and their attention to detail is superb! (As witnessed in our review photo, they had Mr. Goldblum welcome us to our room! ;) We booked a single room with a king-sized bed. It's very comfortable and the linens soft. There was a safe in the room we could use free-of-charge too! Full set of connections to the TV if we brought a laptop or gaming system. We went to several restaurants and bars, plus shopping, and only had one city block to walk North or South from the Palliser! (Still some walking to be had of course, although no more than 10 city streets!) All-in-all, we've had an awesome weekend and will definitely do this again in the future! Thank you Fairmont Palliser for hosting us on our mini vacation! Read less

This is the third Fairmont hotel I've stayed in Alberta (I've stayed in Fairmont, Banff twice and once in Fairmont Lake Louise) We stayed for one night due to a friend's wedding in the same hotel. I was not truly impressed by how their Front Desk in handling queries like mine. I had repeatedly called if we can do an early check-in due to the wedding and the answer was always the same - it’s not guaranteed. While I do understand that it’s not guaranteed - I don’t understand why they can’t say, just come and we'll accommodate you in every way we can, which is Customer Service-bar none. They should have just said replied in a positive way over the phone and not leave us hanging that should we go there early or not? As it is, it left a bad impression that they cannot deliver good customer service although they did deliver by accommodating us early. Food – I didn’t like the food during the wedding reception. Prime beef was served which was too salty for me – didn’t even eat half of it. Their beet salad didn’t taste good either and their dessert was nothing to be desired. As this is a 5-star hotel, there is no complaint regarding the room size or amenities in the room. Read less
