The hotel

Fairmont Palliser first opened its doors to guests in 1914 as one of the Canadian Pacific Railroad Hotels. Today it’s one of Calgary’s landmark buildings, offering a superb range of amenities and luxury accommodation in the heart of downtown. Dining at the Rimrock is essential whilst here, an incredible Tudor-style restaurant with barrelled ceilings and massive stone fireplace. Don’t miss out on the hotel’s award-winning Sunday Brunch, served in the grand lobby and accompanied by live piano music – book early to avoid disappointment. For drinks and entertainment, there’s the Oak Room, a cosmopolitan meeting space, serving tapas and cocktails along with some very cool jazz. If you want to pamper yourself, RnR Wellness Spa offers the latest beauty treatments whilst the Boulevard Club features a eucalyptus steam room, 12-person spa and an indoor heated swimming pool.

Historic hotel but good luck actually finding the valet parking. So arrived frustrated. Booked 2 nights for a package that included a deluxe room, dinner credit, wine, goodies and a $100 gift certificate for shopping. Not checked-in to a deluxe room, no wine in room, no goodies. Three calls later, wine came late on day 2. Dinner was fine but bill does not provide any detail so not sure the package credit was applied. We were provided a list of vendors on 17th Ave. who would honour the gift card. The shops and resturants we tried did not really know what to do with the gift card. It was useless. Final insult, we were charged for two nights for the package rate. Cannot recommend at this time. Read less

Stayed one night, only one block over there were a number of restaurants to choose from for dinner. The hotel was very nice and all of the staff we encountered were lovely. Would definitely stay here again.

Will definitely stay in this hotel when we visit downtown Calgary again. Love the jazz band on Saturday. The endives salad is a must try in Hawthorn Restaurant. The Calgary Tower is steps away and so is the main library.

Very comfortable stay and close walking distance to and around downtown area. All the staff are very friendly and very helpful. There was easy access to parking which was right next door at the Calgary Tower.

Also at this pricepoint, WIFI should be complimentary...at least basic speed. The climate control is the real issue here. Its non-existent. I'm not even sure why they have a thermostat on the wall - it does nothing. It wasnt broken - just appeared locked out from user adjustment. Unacceptable at this price point. Read less
