We stayed at the Fairmont Palliser for 3 nights as part of our Canada travels for our honeymoon. On arrival we were upgraded to a signature suite which was very kind of the staff. Our room was absolutely stunning! It was very spacious with a large bed and beautiful bathroom complete with a jacuzzi tub. Staff were fantastic from the moment we arrived taking our luggage to our room. We also were left some chocolate covered strawberries which was a lovely much appreciated touch :) The Hotel is within walking distance from downtown Calgary and there are lots of nearby places to eat and shops. We didn’t try any hotel food/drink so unable to comment on that. The only small negative we would say about the hotel is that as it’s so centrally located, it’s right next to a railway track too, it was quite noisy at night with traffic and trains. Can’t always be helped in a city though! Highly recommend this hotel for anyone thinking of booking a little luxury in Calgary. Read less

A good welcome & efficient check in & we were upgraded to a larger room, which was a nice gesture, The room was good although a few trains rumbled past overnight, but double glazing lessened the noise so did not disturb us much. The lighting system was not good in that there was no master switch & one had to switch every table light off individually with fiddly little switches, which were very stiff. Also no heated towel rails in the en suite bathroom - extraordinary omission in a hotel of this standard! But plus points - lovely spa & pool, which we much appreciated. & excellent, efficient lifts (elevators) But other things should have been better for this standard of hotel. Breakfast was very expensive ($35 inc tax) & not up to the mark. Yoghurt & fruit lovely, but very poor standard orange juice & coffee - & no tomatoes on the buffet, all accompanied by awful muzak! And in the bedroom: no usb sockets, very mean with milk/creamer to go with the excellent coffee from the generously provided free Tassimo & no free Spring water (although the cold tap water tasted OK) Also very expensive valet parking ($40 per 24 hours). So sorry all in all balancing up the good points & bad - only average Read less

It is quite close to a pedestrian street where all sorts of restaurants and pubs are lined up. Even Thai, Indian and Vietnamese food is available in the neighborhood. The Calgary Tower is just down the street. In summary, it's an ideal base for exploring downtown Calgary. Read less

My only negative comment is the rooms at the rear of the hotel back onto a railway track with trains that run thru the night, so depending on whether you’re a light sleeper this may affect you, other than that it’s a beautiful hotel .
