Reading the reviews I was very skeptical to stay here. We were given a room right next to the lift being renovated which was noisy at times but not enough to ask to move. Reading the reviews I was very skeptical to stay here. We were given a room right next to the lift being renovated which was noisy at times but not enough to ask to move. As mentioned by everyone else, the lifts are very slow even though one new one is now working. However, the hotel staff were friendly in trying to help with any issues. The main, and only, issue with this hotel is wifi signal. On the first day I could not connect to the main network. The reception connected me to the provider who gave me the password to the secondary network - which was very very slow (barely worked). On the second day I called to see why it was so slow, and they attempted to help but wifi still did not load anything. To use wifi, I ended up having to sit in the hotel reception and use Moxies free wifi. So do not recommend this hotel if you need wifi! Didn't want to waste any more time trying to sort out wifi when I was on holiday! Read less

Don’t stay here until the refurbishment has been completed. Yesterday was our first full day here and there was a problem with the lift. A sign said ring reception and they would send up the lift, which they did. Late last night on return from the stampede there was problem with our room key and after a long wait for the lift we eventually got down to reception. The key was updated and we returned to the room but there was still a problem with the key. We could not ring reception for help after nearly 20 minutes we decided to take the stairs all fifteen flights but when we go to the ground floor the door said do not open, alarmed. We went back to the fifth floor and after 10 minutes a lift arrived. The key problem was solved and staff were very apologetic. Today again the key didn’t work, another problem with the lift!!! We were informed today by reception that last night we took the wrong stairs. I dread to think what would have happened if there had been a fire. On a positive note the room has been refurbished to a very high standard and it is lovely. The staff are helpful and friendly. The food at the hotels restaurant is excellent. Read less

We have had an outstanding bill from Big Foot Construction for $472.50 since 7 DECEMBER 2018. Emails, texts, phone calls etc have not done a bit of good. The last excuse was “oh its been sent to Head Office”. Seriously? This bill is over six months old and we are a small business owner. And Sandman Hotels is not on our charity list for this… Read more

The last excuse was “oh its been sent to Head Office”. Seriously? This bill is over six months old and we are a small business owner. And Sandman Hotels is not on our charity list for this year. Please deal with this. I have also sent an email to head office to no avail. If you talk to Big Foot I am sure they will know who this is. Hint: Locksmith Read less

We stayed here for two nights in July. It's quite a nice hotel, good and well appointed room. It could have been excellent but the hotel was let down by several serious flaws. 1. We stayed here for two nights in July. It's quite a nice hotel, good and well appointed room. It could have been excellent but the hotel was let down by several serious flaws. 1. The elevator call system just did not work and you had to call for one from your room. If you pressed the call button by the elevator, nothing happened. I waited for one for 10 minutes at 3 in the morning and gave up. 2. The shower is pathetic - no volume. And on the first morning it took 10 minutes to get warm water to come through. The hotel front desk told me that was normal if you were the first to use the hot water in the morning in the upper floors. Really? That's how the system is designed to work?? 3. We ate in the attached hotel restaurant - Moxies. The food was very good but when we tried to charge to the room we were told we couldn't without knowing our 6 digit reservation number. The waitress said it was the hotel front desk's fault for not giving this number to us? Really??? The room key was not good enough to prove we were at the hotel and the waitress suggested we go to the front desk to find out the number so we could then charge to the room. Beyond the waitresses pay grade to go sort it out for us. On the plus side, the hotel front desk staff were excellent, informative and helpful. But they could not solve the flaws I've listed above. A shame as otherwise the hotel would be 4 or even 5 star. Read less

people at front desk were so rude, the man at the front desk rolled his eyes at us because we didn’t understand a question and was overall very useless and rude. the front desk definitely needs to be taught better customer service because 3 out of the 4 people we talked to were horribly rude and condescending. also very sketchy and slow elevator.
