Carly Reid (not sure of last name or spelling) who works in the canoe rentals made our entire experience! She is personable, energetic, and so very sweet! After learning of our very rainy backpacking trip, she made sure our time at Lake Louise was memorable. Her unexpected kindness made our trip! Thank you!

If you have to save up for one hotel on your Canada holiday, this is it. We had a one night stay, arrived at 10am and it is the highlight of an amazing trip across Canada. We visited mid-September and the numbers of people took our breath away. Lake Louise is so popular, they are managing traffic 5 miles out, thousands and thousands of people everywhere. It is bliss to go back into the hotel and emerge again as the crowds thin. When you see Lake Louise, you just have to say, "wow!" All around you people are saying just that. We hiked uphill for 1.4km to the lookout point and the view was phenomenal. Once down, we walked along the flat alongside the lake. As we were hotel guests, we were given a free hour's canoe trip and it was great fun (and we are in our 60s). It was a day so well spent, we will remember it forever. Having arrived early and doing what we did, a second night was not necessary. As it turned out, it rained horrifically when we woke so nothing more could have been achieved. Oh, hotel wise! Huge, nice staff and our "room with a lake view" turned out to be a "room with a view of a tree and a lake somewhere behind". Janelle went the extra mile and we ended up with a fabulous room on 7th floor and a great lake view. Her understanding was appreciated and we will always remember Lake Louise and the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise as one of life's highlights. Read less

We booked a table for two at the Fairmont Restaurant for the following day, stating a request for a window table. The lady taking the booking was polite, but offered dinner only for 6 pm or 6.15 pm. She mentioned that we may have a window table, but not 100 % sure, ok. Giving the tight timing of 6 or 6.15 pm only, we had reasons to assume to get a window table. We showed up 6.15 pm sharp to be lead to an elevated, dark level of the restaurant, a long shot from the famous windows. When enquiring why we could not get a table near or at the windows, the lady told us that we had come too late, as the tables would be given on a first/come, first/served basis. We were double disappointed because not only could we not get a table anywere near the windows, we would have been the only ones to be seated in the dark area for our dinner. Fnally, the lady offered us a table in the bar area, second row from the windows. Drinks and butter knife arrived in no time, but no bread, however, the food arrived in under ten minutes, whirlwind fast. Our bison ribeye steak with asparagus and risotto were of quality, but precooked, hence, the good quality steak was unusually dry, no juice of the steak anywhere, the asparagus must have been cooked an hour ago and just reheated, turning cold quickly. Forget this restaurant, try as alternative the Lakeview Lounge, line up, have a drink and wait for a guaranteed window table later on. Read less

Stayed for two nights in a lake view room so the view was gorgeous but the room small and bathroom was tiny. Had one breakfast which was not 5 star and expensive. Small choice of cereals and hot food was also a buffet which looked and tasted like it had sat around for ages. Waitress got us a pot of tea and then we never saw her again so plates… Read more

Small choice of cereals and hot food was also a buffet which looked and tasted like it had sat around for ages. Waitress got us a pot of tea and then we never saw her again so plates were just piled up on our table. Pool area dark and a bit dismal. Wouldn’t return bearing in mind how much we paid. Read less
