Do not miss staying at this hotel! Beyond luxurious! One of our favorites forever! The lobby area can be a little busy, don't miss the lounge above the main lobby for quiet time. It has complimentary coffee, a fireplace and comfortable seating. It's a good hideaway.

We booked gold floor for two nights and also happily received a large room facing the lake. The only thing I couldn’t get was a blue sunny sky. Oh well. This is an iconic hotel, unbelievable scenery, good service, and completely overwhelmed by tourists not staying at the hotel. Despite premium pricing which a hotel such as this deserves to charge, they also feel compelled to allow bus loads of tourists to add 100s if not 1000s of people to their property. When we checked in at noon, there was not one seat unoccupied in their huge lobby for my wife to sit while I checked in. Every seat was occupied by mostly elderly tourists, mostly napping. I could be accused of being older by some, but I don’t nap in hotel lobby’s where I am not staying. The line for the bistro was out the door while people sat on window ledges to consume the lunch they either bought at the bistro or brought with them from the outside. There are signs that say “hotel guests only beyond this point” However, many of these tourists either can’t read English or just ignore the signs. The restaurants have signs that say hotel guests are seated first which is true, but the restaurants are overwhelmed by the numbers. Once things settle down in the evening when the tour busses leave, all is much calmer. On a positive note, the guided canoe trip in the evening was a treat and would highly recommend using the complementary hiking poles available from the concierge if you plan to make it to the tea house. All in all, a truly magical place spoiled to a large extent by vast numbers of tourists wandering the hotel who are not guests. Read less

Carly Reid (not sure of last name or spelling) who works in the canoe rentals made our entire experience! She is personable, energetic, and so very sweet! After learning of our very rainy backpacking trip, she made sure our time at Lake Louise was memorable. Her unexpected kindness made our trip! Thank you!

If you have to save up for one hotel on your Canada holiday, this is it. We had a one night stay, arrived at 10am and it is the highlight of an amazing trip across Canada. We visited mid-September and the numbers of people took our breath away. Lake Louise is so popular, they are managing traffic 5 miles out, thousands and thousands of people everywhere. It is bliss to go back into the hotel and emerge again as the crowds thin. When you see Lake Louise, you just have to say, "wow!" All around you people are saying just that. We hiked uphill for 1.4km to the lookout point and the view was phenomenal. Once down, we walked along the flat alongside the lake. As we were hotel guests, we were given a free hour's canoe trip and it was great fun (and we are in our 60s). It was a day so well spent, we will remember it forever. Having arrived early and doing what we did, a second night was not necessary. As it turned out, it rained horrifically when we woke so nothing more could have been achieved. Oh, hotel wise! Huge, nice staff and our "room with a lake view" turned out to be a "room with a view of a tree and a lake somewhere behind". Janelle went the extra mile and we ended up with a fabulous room on 7th floor and a great lake view. Her understanding was appreciated and we will always remember Lake Louise and the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise as one of life's highlights. Read less
