The hotel

In mid Montreal’s entertainment quarter, this elegant hotel is filled with treats to distract you from its enticing urban surroundings. Dip in its indoor pool – a glorious sunken space flooded with light from the glazed ceiling and steps from an al fresco ‘terrace with a view’. There’s a second terrace at Bivouac, serving up views over Quartier des Spectacles. Of course, it’s the location you came for – and Doubletree by Hilton Montreal delivers it. Connected to Complexe Desjardins, it gives almost instant access to more than 100 shops and eateries, and to a subway station for city sightseeing. You can even head out for a run along Mount Royal or Canal Lachine.

It's important to say that this is a very nice hotel, with pleasant staff. The room (single king) felt quite modern, with a nice bathroom and walk-in shower. It's important to say that this is a very nice hotel, with pleasant staff. The room (single king) felt quite modern, with a nice bathroom and walk-in shower. The room is a very reasonable size, with couch, long table for desk, mini-fridge, and Keurig (but no dairy creamer). The main issues are around navigation. The first is minor, but irritating without knowing the property layout. I was dropped by Uber thinking I walked into the hotel, but that's not the case. I ended up in a sort of limbo on floor 3, vertically between the hotel on floor 6 and the mall on floor 2. It was late-ish and I had no idea what was where. Signage was poor to non-existent. The second issue is around people moving; The attached photo shows a crowd waiting for one of the 4 elevators to go up from floors 6 to 20 at 17:30 today. This is my third day, and I've seen this situation all three days. Yes, time dependent, but when I needed to go down from my room to floor 6 this morning at 7:30 it was a 5 min wait. Of less impact is the restaurant/bar. The two nights I went there, only one bartender was working, and while he was a wonderful host he was clearly stretched thin. It was evident he had the ability to look past people already there to focus on new arrivals. And, assuming it is hotel policy, the martini I got was about 2/3 full in a traditional normal-sized glass. Another misleading issue is room service, which appears as a choice on the TV menu but is actually restricted to breakfast. The hotel's location is great for the convention center (Palais des congrès), which can be reached entirely from interior passages. Read less

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights at the DoubleTree in Montreal. We had two rooms, one of which was for our adult daughter who was traveling with us. This is a very large hotel connected to a shopping mall and it is in a great location. It is easy to walk around downtown Montreal for shopping, restaurants, the Port, etc. (Definitely check out the Time Out food market, just a few blocks away on St. Catherine's St.) The parking garage for the hotel is very convenient and reasonable. What I want to point out, in particular, is that the staff of the hotel was extremely responsive and friendly. We interacted with two concierges who gave us excellent restaurant advice and multiple front desk personnel to straighten out some issues with room keys. At one point the battery had to be replaced on one room's door and the maintenance team was there within minutes. We really enjoyed our stay, thanks so this very receptive and supportive team. Minus 1 star because the mattresses were to mushy. But that’s common across doubletrees I find. Also the reception desk is not on ground floor and then the rooms access requires another elevator ride which is a little annoying

Room was good very spacious, check in was poor ! we arrived early for check in , apologised but they advised our room was ready , on arriving at our room there was a do not disturb sign on the door and the key would not work ! leaving my husband a 2 cases in the seating area on that floor i went back to reception , to be told my key was faulty , after several attempts to convince her the room was occupied she finally rang the room and yes it was , after several deep breaths she gave me another key 15th floor and said she would waive the " early check in fee"[ no mention at time of checking in ! ] i then had to ask for another key to use in the lift which would take me to the 16th floor where my husband was , she was clearly frustrated with me but no more than I with her and the hotel ! The hotel restaurant and bar were closed for the duration of our stay ! We did ask for a late check out and were advised to ask the next day and asking again the next day were advised to ask the following day but they didn't foresee any problems , our last day [check out was at 11.00am] we asked to keep our room even if meant paying extra , and advised we could keep it until 12noon ... 1 hour extra ! but could otherwise use facilities of the pool to freshen ourselves , which in itself was a joke no offer of a towel nothing only put in the lift pressed the button and then left to our own devices to find the changing area ! Can you call us a taxi to the airport we asked , oh ask the doorman downstairs , young boy there looked round saw there were no taxis and said there aren't any ! didn't offer to ring for one and there aren't many passing as the street in front of the main door is blocked off due roadworks , fortunately for us a taxi was dropping a lady off at the hotel and we jumped in .... customer service none existent I'm afraid we will never come back Read less

The management team took over all the stations, from unloading our luggage, bringing it to our room, checking us in, etc. They were even able to give us a room right away and upgraded us to a suite. Everything was clean, its a great location with good amenities. And of course, the cookies!! Would highly recommend this property. Read less
