There are spa treatments, games of pool, complimentary WiFi, invigorating gym, sauna, and steam room sessions, and dips in its indoor pool – a glorious sunken space flooded with light from the glazed ceiling and steps from an al fresco ‘terrace with a view’. There’s a second terrace at SIX Resto Lounge and Wine Bar, serving up views over Quartier des Spectacles. Of course, it’s the location you came for – and Doubletree by Hilton Montreal delivers it. Connected to Complexe Desjardins, it gives almost instant access to more than 100 shops and eateries, and to a subway station for city sightseeing. The hotel knew they were booking 2-4 floors worth of rooms to kids in a hockey tournament, so plenty of kids plus adults would be there. They had no where for the kids to play and would not let families rent out places within the hotel for kids to hangout instead of running around the hotel. The lifeguard would not let people into the pool area if there were already 30 people in the pool area even though sign clearly posted 30 people in the pool. Knowing that all these kids were coming you would think the hotel would be better staffed to accommodate more than 30 in the pool area meaning only a max of 15 in the actual pool because each kid needed one adult with them. When we arrived we were "upgraded" to a "nicer" floor and room because of some booking conflict. The room had a smaller window than some of the others, but mostly the bathroom door didn't stay closed...it was a barn door style sliding door that was not mounted properly and slid open constantly. Clearly nobody cared enough to maintain the room properly. The room had no tea bags in it. When we asked at reception, we were lied to: "one of the Nespresso pods in the room is tea." There was no such pod. We asked again in the morning and heard "sure we'll send that right away." None were in the room when we returned. We asked yet again and heard "we'll send some tea bags right up." Nothing ever came. It wasn't until we contacted the head office that somebody arrived within minutes with tea bags. I know tea bags are pretty petty, but the message we received when first we were lied to, and then brushed off with no follow-through...well...it sends the message that the staff just don't care about the customers. And all for something that is automatically in every other hotel room in the world. Otherwise the room was clean and had a nice enough view. Taking 2 elevators to reach the room from the street is a bit of a burden. Read less
